What I question is why anyone would be filming a commercial aircraft in the Tehran sky around 6 AM in the morning. No other activity going on. Seen two separate videos from different locations of this “hit”. No accident from my POV. Plus, why IS a commercial flight operating while Iran has launched missiles just recently? Couldn’t wait/cleared to fly by Iranians?

It might well be true that many of those killed were Canadian passport holders of convenience, but that is hardly the point, in my estimation. What we have here is a rogue regime intent on making war with its neighbours and repressing its own people, while apparently unable to close an airport during an air battle. It doesn’t really matter from a criminal negligence perspective how the aircraft was downed (although I’m over-the-moon happy on that score because the regime looks like a collection of idiots — maybe Soleimani was the brain of this outfit, after all).
The position of the Canadian government should be that the Iranian regime, in negligently disregarding the safety of the travelling public, needs to be held to account. I’d start by endorsing and adopting the additional sanctions being imposed by the United States, which I’d be shocked if Trudeau has done or is even contemplating. Following that, I’d maybe petition the International Criminal Court to take a break from investigating Israel and western militaries and have a look at some real war criminals.
But that won’t happen: Flight 752 is an out-of-the-blue (no pun intended) toxic and unwanted entanglement, from Trudeau’s perspective, in an issue he was hiding in some central American country to avoid, and he doesn’t know how to handle it, so he’s focussing, as a means of slithering through, on the “investigation”, whose conclusions were pretty much written earlier today. Which is just great, as well: so he’s behind the eight-ball on that one, too. Not a very good 48 hours for him, or a very good two weeks on the whole situation.
