      1. Not sure what, if anything, these verses have to do with the topic, but as far as I can tell this passage was written to combat an early form of Gnosticism. Those particular Gnostics claimed the Son of God, who was a purely spiritual being, did not become a man as the Bible teaches, but somehow temporarily joined up with the man, Jesus, between the time of his baptism and his crucifixion. Here’s a modern translation with a little more context:

        How happy I was to meet some of your children and find them living according to the truth . . . I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world.       I tend to take those types articles with a large grain of salt as there are dissenting views to counter the writers points. Just because someone says it is so does not make it so.
