    Seems as though no one is making money on electric and self-driving cars these days. Daimler AG (Mercedes Benz) is cutting spending by 1.5 billion Euros.

I suspect that No-fun Nenshi thinks that we’ll all be crying to raise taxes when some service cuts kick in. (hint: very few of us would).

      Then it became $4.5 billion just for the central portion. Not serving the north and only a tiny bit of the south.

      Now it’s $4.9 billion, and we are hearing reports of “potential” problems tunneling through the downtown. And construction hasn’t even started.

      I’ll bet this will cost $10 to $15 billion if it is allowed to continue.

  26. As to the recent London Bridge stabbings, where am Islamic terrorist murdered two innocent people and seriously wounded three more, the Globe and Mail does its level best to disguise the fact that it was a terrorist attack:

    If one clicks on the above link, one sees the actual headline, which reads “Two Killed in ‘Terrorist’ Attack by Knife-Wielding Man on London Bridge”. That is, the terrorist-sympathetic Globe puts, in the headline, sneer quotes (or scare quotes), implying that there is some doubt as to whether or not this was a terrorist attack.

    The insertion of quotes around “terrorist” in the headline is no trivial issue. The actual article is Reuters article, and is decently factual as to facts — and the writers do not use the sneer quotes around their use of terrorist. The state, accurately, that the London police are calling it a terrorist event.

    This is obvious: the perp had been convicted of terrorism years before; he was wearing a fake suicide belt; he is of Arab-Muslim decent. Yet the Globe uses sneer quotes, when the facts are obvious. This support for terrorism is one of the values of the Globe and Nail.
