  1. If you think Global Warming is bad wait till there is Global Cooling.

We don’t have a carbon dioxide surplus, we have a CO2 deficit.

    1. We only have a CO2 deficit if you like land based life. Depending on how you crunch the numbers, we were within 1 million to 90 million years of CO2 levels dropping enough that tree line becomes sea level. Ocean based life would survive that. Land based life, aside from some outliers that mostly eat from the sea, like polar bears, would become extinct.

      1. At 150 ppm everything is dead. I am not sure ocean life would exist without nutrients from the total ecosystem.

        1. in air, yes. Water is a denser medium. I don’t know what the aquatic equivalent of treeline would be, but are there are krill eating whales north of where tree-line is on land?

      2. If ALL the ice on the planet were to melt, sea level would rise 230 feet. Hardly “tree line”. Where does this nonsense come from? Baghdad Bob or Joseph Goebbels?

        1. I took his comment to mean that “Tree Line” is the upper limit of where vegetation would exist and nothing to do with the elevation of existing tree lines which vary with latitude.

        2. Joey: ask a biologist or botanist about the level of CO2 necessary to maintain photo-synthesis at sea level. Tree level is the elevation (or latitude, or distance from the open desert) at which trees can grow. It’s a variable. I’m not talking about sinking the plains under the ocean, I’m talking about the atmospheric levels of CO2 dropping too low.

It’s not an elevation thing, it’s that air is very diffuse. Water is a much thicker medium that should be able to support photosynthesis at lower CO2 levels simply because the density of water means more molecules will be in contact with the leaves.

If you use IPCC data about CO2 levels over the last 30 million years and plot them as a log function then there’s 50-90 million years before land based life becomes extinct. If you use all available data, including ice boreholes to capture the minimums during recent glaciations, then the straight line function says 1 million years or the log function says 20 to 60 million years.

Humans burning and releasing CO2 have staved off the big extinction. For now.

  2. So the question now is:
Since there really has been no global warming, is the decrease in hurricanes because of stability or cooling? So global warming may really be “bad” by causing an increase of hurricanes, but we won’t know until the global temperature actually increases.

  3. All that’s happened is that thanks to reliable air conditioning, well-heeled parasites wishing to escape high taxes and cold temperatures have built their “dream homes” directly in the path of hurricanes—homes rarely built to withstand a storm.

Climate change is merely the insurers’ excuse to stop paying out whenever some dingbat’s knockoff of Tara is torn to kindling.

People who have lived in Hurricane Alley for generations, and understand what a cruel, violent woman mother nature really is, are the ones squaring their shoulders and cleaning up after the big storms—and saving the trophy wives’ necks. Pity they won’t be able to sell their homes at any price either.

    1. Funny all that…for Decades we’ve been concerned with streamlining our vehilcles to “lessen WIND RESISTANCE”…and yet it seems no ones thought about doing similar to homes that face hurricanes on a regular basis..??

In Metal Fabrication Round edges – Radii – Circular forms have a much higher inherent ability to survive stresses. That same general principal applies here as well.

Stupid is as Stupid does…at the very least for the Rich. The poor who cannot afford designer homes…not so much

      1. R. Buckminster Fuller was thinking along these lines 75 years ago, with his design for the Dymaxion House.

He also designed the Dymaxion Car.

  4. Looks to me like a cycle and of course we do not know just what the cyclical pattern would be for a hundred thousand years. As AC has said “dream homes” built where a hurricane is likely to strike creates more damage, and add to that the population increase, and increases in housing developments, well, more damage. The population has increased from about 2.3 billion in 1945 to almost 8 billion today, logic would dictate more deaths and more damage from a storm. By the way that worst in a hundred years nonsense is just that. Why not the worst in 500 years, or a thousand years, or more. Meaningless drivel.

  5. It doesn’t matter. Until you can get people like Nancy Ross to abandon the “everyone is basically good” fallacy, and actually believe things like everyone who has ever sent a donation to the Liberal/NDP/Green party is fundamentally evil and anti-human, no progress will be made.

Been giving them the benefit of the doubt for what, 100 years? Stalin got it, Pol Pot got it, Maduro, Castro, they all got the benefit of the doubt as they were filling mass graves.

Until you realize that the long march through the institutions took the CPoC party down about 15 years ago…

  6. The big floods in China a couple generations ago measured deaths in the hundreds of thousands or millions, not dozens. Katrina the worst recent catastrophe in our part of the world had 1200 deaths mostly caused by human stupidity as opposed to nature. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to live in a city that sunk to 18 feet below sea level protected by an earthen dam that washed out when it overflowed.

  7. With the UN conference coming soon, the news media blitz has started…I listened (only for a short time), that we are all gonna die and the temperature is going to go up 3.4 C by the end of the century…. ya…right….changed the radio station…

  8. This is inconvenient. You are not Climate Scientists(TM). This data needs to be adjusted for your proper interpretation.

After we correct and homogenize the data we can run it through a digital AI hammer filter. Aha ! It now clearly resembles a hockey stick and there is consensus that hurricanes are increasing at an unprecedented rate of 27.872635287638273 per century. Canada can expect an even higher rate due to it’s tropical connections. This will impact polar bear survival rates and those cuddly baby seals.

  9. When you are being preached to by one of the Global Warming cult members don’t just sarcastically dismiss them by saying “OK Doomer” because that would be rude.

    1. BECAUSE SCHEER IS CLEARLY ON THE OTHER SIDE.

SCHEER CLEARLY HAS THE SUPPORT OF EVERY MEMBER OF THE CPoC.

BECAUSE YOU ARE MAKING CAMPAIGN DONATIONS TO YOUR ENEMIES WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

  10. We are in an interglacial period. A warm period between much longer and colder periods that grow massive ice sheets and drop seas a 100 meters or more shallower. The reason humans have been able to a spread, multiply and prosper is due to a global warming.

  11. CAGW is a HOAX.

It’s no more complicated than that. Co2 is a minute, trace element in our atmosphere at 0.04. Empirical data (that hasn’t been “smoothed”, adjusted, or stripped of all historic context) proves there is no “crisis” occurring because we; drive cars, heat or homes, and build things.

It is a shame … all the money and Human Resources we are WASTING on this Socialist farce. Hint: CAGW hysteria is just a glimpse into the hellish dystopian societal malaise under Socialism.

  12. A university professor, a climate policy researcher, a local Green Party candidate and a psychologist who studies climate change denial (no, you can’t make this stuff up) come together to “fact check” a local politician who has gone rogue (denies climate change).

    My favorite …

The claim: CO2 makes the earth greener

Fact check: “This is infuriating,” says Dyck. The earth might be getting greener, but that’s not a good thing.” Greener means a melting of the rapid melting of ice fields and glaciers and decreasing of the albedo effect, which is the ability of the earth to deflect heat. When ice melts, the earth absorbs more heat, and the cycle of warming speeds up.

So the university professor is infuriated that the earth is getting greener (which is not a good thing). And that is a fact!

    Follow-up fact …

The claim: Deserts are greening and droughts are being prevented

Fact check: In fact, deserts are expanding, many places are becoming more arid, and weather patterns have caused massive fires, such as those in Australia, California and British Columbia. Reports by the World Food Program show people are starving because of droughts, and plants and trees are dying because they’re not getting enough water. “This is the silliest thing I’ve ever heard,” Dyck told CBC News.

In the same article these experts have managed to contradict themselves (in the very next paragraph – you think they could wait a few paragraphs).

“The earth may be getting greener” … “In fact deserts are expanding”, “more arid”, “massive fires”, “plants and trees are dying because they are not getting enough water”… but … “the earth may be getting greener”.

  13. Jesus Christ, you will adapt or freaking die. We/you/anybody has zero control as in 0000000 control over the environment. get over yourselves, you do not have the ability to influence the climate of this planet any more than you can influence the climate on venus or mars. Get over yourselves. Stop with the stupidity.

    1. Humans do not have the ability to change the climate of the planet, yet we do have the ability to pollute the atmosphere (and water and soil) at a very local level (like dumping raw sewage into the St Lawrence). We refuse to fix the local problems while claiming to be solving problems on a planetary scale. Morons leading idiots following deceivers…

  14. I just trudged out in the snow and refilled the feeder for those little dinosaurs who adapted after the big extinction. Now if birdbrains can adapt why can’t humans? Oh right. Birds don’t have politicians and professors among them. We’re doomed.
