Maybe because the information is hidden in small print on page 415 of the voluminous report and omitted in the Summary for Policy Makers? The implications of the mismatch of model vs. reality may be serious: It is common practice in all fields of modeling to test models first on existing data, i.e. a known development, before using them as predictive tools. Models first have to pass the ‚hind cast‘ or ‚history match‘ before they qualify to be used for predictions. According to the IPCC, the climate models seem to have failed this test, appear to be on the road without driving license – so to speak – and are therefore unfit for future climate predictions.
Buried on page 415 in small print, no kidding. That’s an admission that the whole enterprise is bollocks.

It was warmer during the MWP with less CO2. Yet now CO2 is a problem. The facts show that CO2 has no effect on global temperature.

I have always said that I could never bring myself to accept the notion that CO2 is the earth’s “thermostat” until somebody explains why Greenland was warm enough for Lief Erickson and his buddies to farm there for about 400 years before it got cold again, and that whatever caused it to be that warm then cannot possibly occur again. And I always note that polar bears didn’t just evolve after it got cold after the MWP, which means that they must have survived in the absence of ice.
We have proxies for both temperature and CO2 for thousands of years, they are not well correlated. So CO2 has not controlled climate in the recent past. But that does not mean that increasing CO2 could not become the controlling factor in the future. The question is how much is required to become dominant ? 400ppm or 4% or more – nobody knows ? We don’t have a spare planet and a time machine to test it.
Hello reality here. If CO2 has not controlled climate in the past by definition means it won’t do so in the future.
What changes? You are begging your own hypothesis. You have evidence to disprove but give that has no weight?

I once sat in a session put on by Ontario ministry of natural resources where they were presenting about climate data to use when evaluating risks to infrastructure.
Essentially, the dataset was an average of all of the world’s climate forward models.
When asked how well the models simulated the historical dataset, the presenter said that it doesn’t do a very good job of modeling the instrument data from the 20th century, but all of the models agree generally in their future modeling results…

This point has been made countless times over the last several years, yet professional climate modelers consistently claim that models don’t need to have predictive power to be useful (and they often try to obfuscate by using the term ‘projection’ instead of ‘prediction’). Any reasonable person would call this pure bollocks, unless of course the term ‘useful’ is used in reference to filling one’s bank account.
The climate models don’t work. That actually falsifies the theory of AGW – Popper’s falsifiability criterion.

One factor that has been overlooked in the zeal to blame CO2 on climate warming is the fact that water vapour in the atmosphere has a far more significant immediate impact on climate than CO2 does. If we could factor into the equation the amount of water vapour that industrialized mechanical irrigation has introduced into the atmosphere since the end of WWII that is done on a daily basis we would be inclined to stop all industrialized mechanical irrigation. We could conveniently kill two birds with one stone here. By stopping irrigation we would reduce the worlds food supply which would produce a massive famine possibly killing more people that Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot combined. Just think how much healthier the planet would be if a billion, billion and a half, or even two billion people were removed naturally from the food chain. Just think how much happier the survivors would be in not having to put up with all of the zealots that have been screeching that the sky is falling!
There have been many warm periods in earths history. It is a cycle that happens since the beginning, and always driven by the Sun. Why did they suddenly decide to capitalize on this current warm cycle? Climate models are not meant to be predictive, they are meant the to test a hypothesis against observation.

Alaska’s Mendenhall Glacier is melting and retreating, exposing the trunks of ancient trees. Carbon dating has revealed that some trees were growing more than 1,000 years ago, and others about 2,000 years ago. In other words, the Medieval Warm Period and the Roman Warm Period were both warmer than our Modern Warm Period, and were warm long enough for forests to flourish where a glacier has been. That earlier warmth was natural, with no human emissions.
