I told you to keep the faith. The Nationals did one for the record books, they lost all three home games, but won all Four on the road and the Series.
Congratulations to the Nats.

Ms. Ross,
Do not give up hope for a Nationals win. My Minnesota Twins won two World Series, even though they lost every road game, TWICE! 1987 and 1991. Maybe the Nats will do the unlikely, and win every away game, even though they lost at home. That would be one for the record books.
Too bad I didn’t believe in my own prediction. I wonder how much I could have won at the sports book?
The Nats psyched out the Astros big time! You were right rd!
The Bronfmans must be sorry they sold the Montreal team.
Oh, what a game! The Astros changed pitchers 4 times. The first one was a sour puss after that. Scherzer, chewing gum like the Mad Max that he is, Soto dancing and hamming it up, all the guys jumping up, what a remarkable turnaround. Watching the celebrations! Oh, what a Night!
Wish I had bet some moolah too!
The Astros won the first six innings, but lost the game.
Through six innings, Greinke had a one hit shut out, and the Nats left one runner on base.
The Astros could have put the game away. They scored twice, but left nine runners on base. Vince Scully always said, waste not, want not.
Then came the seventh inning. Greinke got one out. Gave up a HR. That was only the second hit. And walked the next batter. That was only the fourth batter he put on base. And the Astros’ manager took the ball from him. Greinke had made 80 pitches. The very next pitcher, on his second pitch, gave up a two run HR to put the Nats ahead. After that, the roof caved in. In the meantime, the Astros couldn’t get anyone on base anymore.
I don’t understand this modern baseball. I mean Greinke isn’t chopped liver. He won the Cy Young once. In the old days, if Sandy Koufax did what Greinke did, you would never take him out. You figure he would have a one run, two hit complete game. And most of the time, he would.
The Astros have the best top three starters in baseball. And they didn’t disappoint. But it doesn’t matter. The game is all about relief pitching. If I were general manager, I’d pay for the best four guys I can get, who are asked to only throw smoke for one inning, but can pitch three days in a row. And I’d work out a rotation for them to pitch the last three innings of every game if need be. That’s how you win games these days. It’s strange. It’s the only game where when the chips are down, some of your highest paid players aren’t around to do their stuff.
OldBruin, you are so right; modern baseball is sometimes hard to figure out. Congrats to the Nationals, although I was cheering for the Astros. I have no sentimentality for the Nats having been in Montreal previously. Totally different team.
Funniest thing I saw this series was a little person fan (can I say midget or dwarf?) in Houston holding up a sign that read, “I wish I was as tall as Altuve.” I nearly wet myself!
Excellent analysis my friend. I haven’t been following baseball closely since my kids left the house … sorry to say, but this American is ALL-IN for the EPL now. Answer me this … did Houston management buy any top relief pitchers for their final playoff run? Smart teams do that. It appeared as though Houston had worse than average relief pitching at best.
Oh and how I loathe baseball “by the book”? Playing the “odds” and the “stat book”. What happened to baseball “instinct”. People instinct? If the Mgr. asked Greinke how he “felt” (after only 80 pitches) and he said “I’m spent”, then fine … pull him. Otherwise, let him pitch his way out of trouble. I missed the inning when he was pulled. Was he missing the zone big time? Or did he just miss some close pitches, or not get the call? What did his catcher have to say? Sometimes you just have to play your best “hunches” … like putting a shockingly-injured Kirk Gibson up to bat at the end of a crucial game. Arrrrrggghhhh ! That scene still haunts me to this day.
PS … I loved seeing Verlander SUCK. He was an absolute A’s killer in every fricking post season we ever forced our way into! Suck it, Verlander!
Wow, Kenji, EPL you said? That’s something else we have in common. I am an avid Liverpool fan, and I just revel in their success so far. I am not going to gloat any more, not knowing which team you root for. Liverpool are (as they say in Britain) the only top level English team to regularly visit Hong Kong. That has been true for over sixty years. That’s one of few bucket list items I have, to make a pilgrimage to Anfield, preferably for one of those rare occasions they have three home games in eight days.
To change sports, per Nancy Ross above, “The Astros changed pitchers 4 times. The first one was a sour puss after that.” I didn’t notice that. I was watching the game while being at the UCLA exhibition basketball game, and can’t really pay attention full time to either. (The winning HR was hit while we were singing the National Anthem.) But I suppose she’s talking about Greinke. I won’t blame him. He wasn’t wild in the seventh, except against Soto, whom he walked on five pitches. I believe the umps had been told to always squeeze the zone on the team winning, to make the games more interesting. Or maybe as hot as Soto is, it was one of those unintentional intentional walks, with dire consequences Greinke did not anticipate.
To Ontario Kate: well, I wish I was as tall as Altuve. Given that, my favorite game to play was basketball growing up (ha, growing up in a manner of speaking). Go figure. But that’s par for me. I majored in physics, the only subject I couldn’t get an A in high school.
@ 12:43 pm OldBruin
You didn’t notice that Greinke was a “sour puss” after he was sent to the dugout? I was glued to the TV and saw the game on a 60 inch screen. The astute cameraperson kept panning to the Astros’ dugout and zoomed in and aimed at him dead center. This happened at least 6 to 10 times and the long face on him turned to a definite scowl. He not only knew the camera was on him, but he sat still and stared into it. He didn’t look away, didn’t talk to anyone and seemed too livid to even spit any gangreneous sputum, as he probably had none left!
OB, you’re correct about Greinke’s anger, having taken my written word for it, Greinke was probably angry with Greinke. That is, for letting young Soto ‘get’ to him.
It threw him off his game! And how! He walked Soto, as you say, “(whom) he walked 5 pitches.”
Hurrah for Biesbol! Nothing like the game of “beisbol” as abtrapper writes and how my Hungarian driver actually pronounced it.
Hurrah for Biesbol !
OB … thank you for not gloating over my lingering Kirk Gibson misery … some day, I may let it go. It’s rough being a lifelong A’s fan.
Because my kid was a raving Henri fan, he adopted Arsenal. I went along with him, and generally liked Wenger’s approach to the game. But Wenger had gone stale, and while I generally appreciate what Emery is doing … but have no patience for his completely dysfunctional defense and mediocre midfield.
Sorry, but I probably most admire Man City these days … with Liverpool a close second. Call me a fair weather fan … but it’s MORE than that … it’s coaching, tactics, and sensational players. Good lord! What Pep has done for Sterling! Made him into one of the top 5 players in the world (IMHO). I similarly love watching what Klopp has done … love the attacking style … love that he bought the best defender in the world … love how he survived and THRIVED Cutino’s departure.
I simply admire the top managers in the game, watching how they approach the game, and how they train and manage top talent.
Kirk Gibson, that close to a WS MVP with one at bat, and exposed Jose Canseco for the selfish oaf that he is. After the game, all Canseco could talk about was his grand slam. He didn’t care that the A’s just lost.
Somehow that’s a perfect intro to my favorite Red, Bobby Firmino. He is always smiling, always so happy when something good happens for Liverpool, no matter who did it. I don’t think he has a jealous bone in his body, unlike most Brazilians, and especially Coutino. I remember when his injury replacement Origi scored that winning goal against Barca, he was the most excited Red. I really believe Coutino was addition by subtraction. And it’s great Liverpool got so much money for him that they can go after players like Virgil and Alisson, players now acknowledged best in the world in their positions. Of course, they and Fabinho are what make the outside defensive backs’ adventures possible.
Klopp exemplifies the modern soccer philosophy of always pressing. He has made Alexander Arnold and Robertson the most valuable outside defensive backs in the world, because of their work on offense. Reminds me of the couple of Alexander Arnold-Son duels in the last game … in the Spurs defensive zone. Son was defending against Alexander Arnold! And yet Liverpool leads the EPL in defense, and has not conceded more than one goal in any league game.
Anyway, re Liverpool vs City, let me lay this on you. Liverpool is six point ahead, having played everyone else in the top eight in the first round robin except City and Palace (who I think is just renting space up there until they encounter better opposition.) On the other hand, City has only played Palace. That means to complete the round robin, while Liverpool only has to deal with Palace and otherwise lower teams, six of City’s remaining nine first round robin matches are against the top eight. They would do well to emerge with a 3-2-1 record there in, but still dropping seven more points. If Liverpool can win at Anfield against City, the race is essentially over. Yes, this early.
I will though, acknowledge that Liverpool gave up on Sterling, and he has blossomed with City. But I’d rather take the Liverpool model, who have somehow managed to find the winning goal every game, rather than City, scoring 17 in three games against hapless opponents, yet cannot find the goals to level against Norwich and Wolves.
On Arsenal, have you noticed the interesting coincidence that Wenger’s first name is Arsene? Actually, the up and coming team may be Chelsea, with Abraham, Pulisic, and Mount averaging 21 years old. If they can learn to meld like the Liverpool front three, Chelsea can look to a lot of goals for many years to come.
OB ! You know your stuff on the soccer (futball) pitch. Along with multiple other sports. But you’re Chinese … a highly-educated, pocket protector physics geek Chinese student *smirk* … you’re supposed to have been practicing the violin, not watching and participating in sport! Ha. I’ve never believed in stereotypes … but they ARE funny, you have to admit.
I DO have a feeling that we will be hearing refrains of “You’ll never walk alone” at the end of this season. However! Let me caution you … there’s been a slight dearth of goals this season, and Liverpool have snatched victory from defeat or draw TOO MANY times already this season. Some say … that’s the “luck” or “character” required of a championship team. I say it is flirting with danger. And it seems Mo Salah is not gonna find his form of 2017-18 anytime soon. But Mane appears to be more than capable of taking up the slack.
You will want to know that my EPL Fantasy team is stacked with Liverpool players: Mane, Firmino, and Van Dijk (I HAD Robertson, but he’s not yet found last season’s form – in scoring). I can only have 3-players max. from any team. I also have; Mount, Abraham, and HAD Pulisic … until he surprisingly got dropped from the squad. Chelsea is the SHOCK of the EPL this season IMHO. It’s one thing to survive the departure of Cutino, but surviving the loss of Hazard? That’s amazing. Lampard is impressing … and is gutsy with his youth squad.
As to stereotype, a (Chinese physics Ph.D., they are dime a dozen) friend claims I do not have a single musical cell in my body. So much for violin, piano, whatever. Anyway, when I was growing up, we were too poor for any of that stuff.
Full disclosure, not only have I never had a pocket protector, I have never owned a slide rule. But I did have a HP-25. I loved that little “computer”, and programmed the heck out of it. My colleague borrowed it and my book of programs to support a launch at the Satellite Test Center in Sunnyvale. The upshot was the USAF wanted to classify my programs! for being faster than their mainframes. Of course not having a pocket protector meant that I did ruin a few shirts with ink stains. That part definitely supports the nerd stereotype.
Not only sports. I wasted too much of my youth also on games like chess, bridge, pool. Even fusbol, that table soccer game that showed up at the school pub one day. Alas, I got better at them than physics, and barely squeaked through the latter. Funny thing, people really involved with one or the other of those games told me that I should be taking it more seriously!
Salah suffered that horrible injury against Real Madrid in the Champions’ League finals last year, and I don’t think he really ever fully recovered. His production hasn’t noticeably fallen off only because Liverpool got so much better, and he has more chances. But he isn’t as precise with his shots. Against Tottenham, I noticed he wasn’t even the usual Energizer Bunny on the pitch. I hope that was just fatigue. Here is the flip side to what you said. Liverpool has been doing it with an off form Salah, and losing their World #1 keeper for eight games. Quietly, Liverpool made the most important acquisition just before the season by signing the Spaniard keeper, for free!, who has been doing a yeoman’s job. But Alisson allows Liverpool to be more aggressive in their pressing, if the game vs. Tottenham is any indication. Liverpool led 21-11 on shots, 13-4 on shots on goal, though only 2-1 on goals. The win was totally deserved, and was not a rout only because the Spurs keeper had an unreal game.
Gloating over a Spurs win? Talk about a top 6 team headed for the bottom 6. Wasn’t your keeper at West Ham? Who couldn’t possibly afford to pay two top class gk’s … but sure as hell wish they had Adrian back, now that Fabianski has gone out with a long term injury. Fabianski was West Ham’s player of the year last season … enough said about losing him to injury. West Ham are gonna struggle till they get him back … and Adrian gets the BIG STAGE upon which to shine. Yeah, I’ll give Liverpool the nod for THAT free transfer. OTOH … West Ham got Jack Wishere on a Free Transfer. Yeah, nod to Liverpool.
I almost forgot that foul on Salah. I sure remember it when it happened. VAR would have issued a RED CARD to Ramos for hooking and body rolling Salah. Spanish defensive HACK. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing. No accidental contact there. Is that the injury you were referring to?
Hey; that tweet was there one moment and then gone the next. Here is a text version of what was retweeted by Norman Spector:

The real risk to Canada in the existing situation is not Alberta separation under the law but a UDI recognized by the US under Trump and then annexation. #cdnpoli #ablegNorman Spector added,

Exactly. UDI is only a practical option if the US recognizes it and is willing to offer statehood (and military assistance) afterwards.
The real question is why the US should stop there. There is wealth beyond compare from sea to sea, all of it utterly wasted on the “Treaty People”—including the French Canadians.
The birth of a new political entity does not guarantee the continuance of old systems. Alberta would probably be a republic and those ‘Treaties’ would be subject to the new government. When one thing changes everything can change.
Amazing how every limp-wristed liberal is suddenly a Nats fan, eh?
All the victory proved is that the Swamp can outbid other cities for the best baseball players. The President was visibly bored to tears at the game he was forced to attend and listen to a mob of parasites boo him. All at taxpayer expense.
Nats fans gave the rest of us another reason to end all government subsidies to professional sports. The only people who benefit from them are rich bloodsuckers. The rest of us get to watch the bloodsuckers call for the violent overthrow of the President of the United States. If the swamp dwellers love baseball so much, let them form a prison league.
They might even enjoy it. In my experience, spectator sports are only interesting if somebody you know is playing. High school sporting events are the only ones worth watching. Parents actually take pride in their children’s prowess. When they cheer, they mean it. Pity there’s not more money for that.
Please do not comment on something you know nothing about. I know that’s par for you, but you make it painfully obvious you know nothing about baseball.
The Swamp did NOT outbid other cities for the best baseball players. In fact, the Nats lost their best player, the face of their franchise, before the season. Lost him to Philadelphia, if you will. But other players came forward, including a rookie out of nowhere, who really got hot in the playoffs.
Washington didn’t even win its division. Every team in the league championship playoffs had a much better season record. It got hot at the right time. And it was lucky in beating LA in the playoffs. It won against Houston mostly I think the latter was mismanaged. But that’s baseball for you.
Washington went 90% for Democrats every election. So you expect that from people attending the game. But next to hockey players, baseball players have been the most non-vocal professional ball players. They stand for the national anthem, even though many are not even American citizens, as baseball is very popular in the Caribbean and Latin America, and provides some of the biggest stars.
WTF
A Liberal and limp wristed? Why would you jump to such conclusions about anyone?
Get help. Professional help. Sometimes your frank talk is good other times not so much.
The lady that left you did so for a reason, get over it. No one is worth it. You are a bitter old man for nothing. There are some good people here on Earth. It’s not all hell or high water.
You do not impress people.
In fact, we feel f’n pity for you.
Beisbol Anyone?
Real life: Riding in Taxi With Nancy:
Got a ride with an old Hungarian yesterday. He’d been in Canada for a few years. Said that he was a hockey fan. He found that football was uninviting. “How about baseball?” I asked him. Said he didn’t understand it. “What?” I exclaimed.
Digesting his statement, I went on, “well Sir, it’s the perfect game you know.” Never missing an opportunity, I decided to give him a 5 minute explanation of the rules. He seemed interested. When he asked, “how do we know when the batter did a ball or a strike?” Good question. I thought, this guy is putting me on. I said, “there is an umpire behind the batter.” Dead silence. Thinking he just wants to see how much I knew about the game, I went on, and when a”batter strikes out after 4 balls, 3 times, it means he had 12 chances to try for a hit, then he’s out.” Dead silence. I went on, “3 men out and everyone switches places. Outfielders come in, batters go outfield. Nine innings and it’s game over. Unless it’s playoffs, then the game can last d-a-ys, …all things being equal”. Dead silence.
I should just have given him an earful of my beautiful singing:
“Take me out to the ballgame, buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks, I don’t care if I ever come back, it’s root root root for the ballgame…là, là,,là.”
To World Series Winners, the Washington Nationals…. Congratulations!
You psyched them out!!!
It was a good series and the best team won. I underestimated the Nats – they were really something.
I love beisbol. It’s so civilized. No time clock. I have to admit the games are getting a bit long these days.
Anyone remember the Jack Lemmon Walter Matthau movie ( The Odd Couple?) where in one scene one of them went to the washroom or something and missed a triple play? He blamed the other guy for it.
Maybe I have that wrong but it was along those lines. I think one was a sports reporter (Matthau?)
And….how about those Astros playing that texas swing tune, ‘Deep in the Heart of Texas’ during the 7th inning stretch.
I don’t know who does it but that version swings.
Pitchers and catchers report to training camp in February….
I was really indifferent, ab…but the game got more engaging as the evening wore on. That was four good hours! It flew fight by.
Mid way through, when Soto was at bat and he did his little dance, it changed the mood around, and things turned around rather fast! They got the some bases almost loaded and then the guys HOME! The kid came through again.
The winners are elated and crying! Still celebrating as you can imagine, it’ll be an all nighter!
As for the Odd Couple movie- loved It! Blaming the other for missing a triple play meant, perhaps, they were drinking too many beers! Was it an inside joke?
About tonight’s game, I was doing some lip reading when each team were in the dugouts. Here’s some of what I picked up, it’s rather funny:
Scherzer was singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”….
In the Astros dugout, one of the long faced players said,
“effing game!”
Oh well, guys, a play on Yogi Berra’s saying,”it’s over when it’s over!” Toast to Next Year!
Beisbol is the best! It’s the only game (that I know) where the defense has control of the ball. How great is that?! I grew up watching the game with my dad (Expos, of course!) and when Toronto got the Blue Jays, dad and I spent many wonderful afternoons at Exhibition stadium. I credit MLB with bringing my husband and me together (story for another day) so my love of the game continues.
Nancy, baseball is a hard game to explain. If you hit the foul line or the foul pole, it’s a fair ball. A strike is when the batter doesn’t strike the ball. If the batter swings and misses the ball, then it isn’t a ball anymore. Seriously, try explaining the infield fly rule.
Anyway, I root for my Dodgers, and then whoever eliminated them. And I always root for the NL regardless. So I am content. Besides, I daughter and son-in-law root for the Nats.
To abtrapper:
Traditionally in the US, baseball was played by people who never went to college, and football was played by people who did. As you said, baseball is a civilized game, but played by ruffians. And football is a ruffians’ game, which (used to be) played by gentlemen.
Good summary OB. It takes many people within an organization to make it work efficiently to produce the best results. I wasn’t rooting for any particular team but the best team won. It’s all about strategy and knowing when to play the best players, isn’t it.
“It’s all about strategy”
And then the American League removed 100% of the strategy with the designated hitter.
What great observations by the great George Carlin. He is perfection. I love this. When he does the two voices, one ‘softly’ and one ‘HEAVILY’ it is typical of his genius.
Can you just imagine if our school teachers were all funny like him, back in the day? My Chemistry teacher hit herself against the walls to show how molecules bounced! That was pure genius. We all did well in her class because she caught our attention early. She wasn’t so crazy after that. It was brass tacks and all business.
Ah chemistry. It brings back memories of my college days.
It isn’t in the way you think. My typical load in the lower division was physics, math, German, chemistry. Throw in a college requirement class here and there, and chemistry aside, that was the only class I saw girls. But ah chemistry. UCLA had a very large nursing school. And chemistry was required for them. And I had two hours of lab weekly. And the chemistry 1A TA was astute enough and kind enough to partner me with a girl I fancied. And the TA was a little unconventional. She baked our whole lab brownies for Christmas. She gave a surprise quiz with questions like naming barium and sodium compound, or iron and cobalt compound, or name a benzene ring with Fe++ at the spokes. The answers were banana, coffee, and ferrous wheel. Right up my alley.
I was too poor to date. (I lived at home and didn’t have a car.) Anyway I was only 16 as a freshman. But those nursing students brightened up my week. And the TA was very nice too.

dont you mean chemystery?

found out she only taught 1 more year then went into IT. same as me.

A: had to wait for the internet to be invented. had a laugh about that.
found out her first name, Elaine.
told her from her class I learned if I did the work I would get the results
which prompted me to go after my BSc and BA.
one bright spot in a desert of being ignored by the ‘smart’ kids and the ‘rich’ kids.
Being a Marx Brothers movie, it goes without saying that the rest of that production of Verdi’s Il Trovatore is completely demolished.
Whenever I hear a recording or performance of that overture, I start chuckling for some odd reason….
Whenever I ‘see’ the Marx Brothers I start chuckling.
As a kid, I’d drop what I was doing for a Marx Brothers movie, as did the whole family. Too bad they’re rarely shown on TV. I bet a new generation would love it- a newer cult following would emerge. They were big on the double entendres.
One can just imagine how these brothers grew up. They must have received a lot of encouragement from their parents. Naturally, their parents would’ve been proud of their success.
Nice of you to link that. I forgot about that movie, even though I must’ve seen it more than once- it’s so familiar.
Their movies like ANATO and Duck Soup (which has what is easily the funniest scene ever filmed) are frequently shown on TCM.
The thing is that the transition from something as serious as Il Trovatore into Take Me Out To The Ball Game actually works.
How about this? I had no idea there was more to it.
Some are indicating dislike in the video by holding their noses!

L-Someone should forward these two linked video interviews to all the MLAs in Saskatchewan, especially the Premier and cabinet, and former Premier Brad Wall, too.
I’d included those in the MSM too, but quite frankly most of them are scientificly illiterate, simply incapable of understanding scientific method of hypotheses, theories and the role of data in science, and also, quite proud of their ignorance.
In the federal Conservative caucus there were two M.P.s with extensive education in science, both were forced out by Mr. Mediocrity. Though to be fair he did the same with highly educated, intelligent in other fields, too; those would be candidates who’d be clearly smarter than mediocrity.
If anyone does forward the links to elected officials be sure to include this gem of an interview.

Perhaps as Canada celebrates the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, Blackie can remove any mention of the Korean war from the National War Memorial in Ottawa. It would be so diverse.

He’s been dressing-up as a Prime Minister every day for the last four+ years now. It’s his most consistent acting fantasy, outpacing his three-year portrayal of dressing-up as an infant and wearing diapers.
Critics consider his infant portrayal “more authentic”.
The theme on Blackie’s media this morning, is that social conservatism has no place in Canadian politics or society. We must all embrace homosexual sex, pedophiles, abortion, global warming scams, and various leftist policies. And global warming alert. This morning Encana announces they are moving to the USA. The flight of oil companies highlited by TransCanada (TC Energy) a few years ago continues. What Western Canadians largely do not realize is that a lot of the technology these companies are taking with them will never come back. Leduc was a oil technology center. The industry is being sold to the Americans for cents on the dollar.
Since the election Ontario media has been minimalizing the Alberta situation by suggesting that the down turn is more a function of depressed world energy pricing rather than federal government policy. I am sure there is a conviction in the east that the existing hostility will abate or can be managed as is being done right now. Kenney has to go on the offensive now. UDI options have to be discussed and a timeline established.
Westerners have a history of rejecting eastern norms. When the Premier of Quebec claims that eastern Canada funded the oil industry in the West he is lying. The oil industry in the West was funded out of Houston Texas. Yes, the same place our oil companies are moving to now. The soft soaping messages coming out of BNN right now is outrageous. As a Westerner I am outraged.
When the Saudi Arabia transport facility was bombed (allegedly by Iran) there was a significant pop in Western Canada oil companies. I took the opportunity to sell all my oil stocks and don’t see a reason to get back in while Trudeau is in power. Since the bombing these stocks have dropped back about 20% to their previous levels. The Alberta oil industry is in trouble. All the international companies are leaving and long term investment is drying up. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia continues selling oil to Eastern Canada refineries.
Some goof-ball on NPR radio tried to explain how virtually all the problems in Venezuela have been caused by the drop in world oil prices. No mention of why this didn’t cripple Norway or Saudi Arabia, just Venezuela. This guy is an expert.
2018 saw a record in Canada for pick-up trucks and SUVs which now represent almost 70% of all new vehicle sales. Talk about voting for the climate crisis with your hard-earned money.
Since the election Ontario media has been minimalizing the Alberta situation by suggesting that the down turn is more a function of depressed world energy pricing rather than federal government policy.
Prinz Dummkopf’s policies towards Alberta were never about the environment and had zippo to do with “depressed world energy pricing”. It was all about destroying our province as a functioning economic and political region and forcing us into an everlasting state of serfdom and submission to Ottawa.
People should be reminded that when the Avro Arrow development was cancelled the technological expertise departed for the USA. We never recovered that advantage. Hewers of wood & drawers of water we remain.

In other words, 50% came from taxpayer’s pockets … and the other 50% … wait for it … came from taxpayer’s pockets … but it was the other pocket so it’s different. This is how the government treats your tax dollars.

That distress fine has been increased to $130,000 for a first offence and $260,000 for a subsequent offence, both with the potential of two years in jail….
AND
For the first time, the definition of animal distress also includes, “psychological hardship, privation or neglect.”
“… but his voters (Max/PPC) clearly need to be brought back into the (CPC) fold….”
Nope. Ain’t gonna happen. Tell you why.
Right about now scheer-the-steer and his little poli-sci grads in their elf suits are analyzing where things went wrong. Since they are fundamentally dishonest and terminally stupid, their conclusion will be that the CPC has to rid itself of anything that smacks of small c conservatism. They will ignore the votes that went to Max; they will spend no time thinking about those who made a choice to stay home rather than cast a ballot for a bumbling coward. And last, but certainly not least, they will remain, whether willfully or through ignorance, blind to the fact that history (even Canadian history) can serve us up lots of examples where true leaders have gone from relative obscurity to power by having the courage to say what needed to be said and the wisdom to realize that cowering to the press gains you nothing but servitude.
And now this:
He (Peter McKay) went to say that nobody wanted to talk about issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage, “yet that was thrust onto the agenda and hung around Andrew Scheer’s neck like a stinking albatross, quite frankly, and he wasn’t able to deftly deal with those issues when opportunities arose.”
It’s hardly surprising, considering that the House is controlled by the AOCocrats.
I think the issue of Impeachment is a Democratic Strategy to try and keep President Trump’s name off the ballot in some or many states. Just an idea. It will tie up the remaining time in the House into the New Year. Then tie up the Senate next year going into the Election. The President needs to start prosecuting those in the Democratic Party and Deep State for the attempted coup de etat against him.

Time to leave a few problems behind?

The GENIUS of George Carlin …
https://youtu.be/aIkqNiBASfI
And the TA was very nice too.
chemisty?
dont you mean chemystery?
along the lines of mathemagic . . . .
I hated hi school except my gr 11 math teacher, a rookie really really hot babe.
1st crack at calculus.
my marks went from low 50s to mid 80s trying to impress her.
couple years ago I googled her unusual name and lo, she called me !!!!
found out she only taught 1 more year then went into IT. same as me.
asked me, why did you wait this long to look her up?
A: had to wait for the internet to be invented. had a laugh about that.
found out her first name, Elaine.

If there’s one thing that we can all learn from the way the last Canadian federal election was conducted, it was that the People’s Party of Canada was the single party most feared by the Left. Indeed, it is Canada’s only party that is not on the Left itself.

L- I’d subtitle it : an analysis of how not to win an election against the worst, most corrupt, inept Liberal leader in the history of Canada !
How long until they join the Legion and start demanding a place in our national Remembrance Day parade? All with a federal government subsidy of course. After all, it’s a wonderful new community group.

Perhaps as Canada celebrates the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, Blackie can remove any mention of the Korean war from the National War Memorial in Ottawa. It would be so diverse.
You know the Puke would love to don the uniform of a PLA soldier (sans makeup).
We are quietly being conditioned to accept overt and public displays of fealty to the Chinese government with the blessing of our Canadian government (Trudeau) in power. Buying up our land, resources, businesses and neighbourhoods. They, the Chinese, play a long game. A disaster in the making!
Groper is dressing up as a white person today.
Cold with flurries out West, and extreme winter weather coming to Ontario and Eastern Canada. Good thing Blackie imposed that carbon tax on us. In other news, Starbucks in Toronto is hosting a refugee hiring event. Employers will be on hand to interview refugees instead of white racist bastards. Mayor John Muhammad Tory will be attending the event.

Its a long read.
The philosophies of people-hating Malthusian eco-warriors like Sierra Club’s Executive Director David Brower:
‘ “If a doubling of the state’s population in the next 20 years is encouraged by providing the power resources for this growth,” Brower said, California’s “scenic character will be destroyed.”[3]
Brower wasn’t opposed to nuclear for safety reasons but because it would provide cheap electricity for the masses: people he hoped to see excluded from California. ‘

Dianne is not calling out the CO2 scam.
She is just prescribing a different fix from the Liberals’.
The debate over tax vs cap & trade was had 10 years ago.
Harper brought us cap & trade & wind turbines and those carbon offsets that Sock-money buys to fly around.
Lots of money was spent on bean counters and high priced electricity. And then Trudeau brought in the carbon tax.
That was the tag-team plan all along. And Mr. Butts had his hand in it going back to the Harper & McGuinty years.
Meanwhile bad man orange has pulled the USA out of the Paris Accord.
Encana moving out of Canada. Another win for Butts and Zoolander. Had enough yet Mr. Kenney???
https://calgaryherald.com/commodities/energy/encana-moving-to-the-u-s-changing-name/wcm/0668b0e7-b773-426c-a2b3-4bde8ee1ceb7

My favorite line:
“Of the payment, $6.7 million came from taxpayers via the province’s Regional Development Corporation. Thomas said earlier this year that the other half of the licensing fee came from a fund for research and development that is part of NB Power’s regular annual budget.”
In other words, 50% came from taxpayer’s pockets … and the other 50% … wait for it … came from taxpayer’s pockets … but it was the other pocket so it’s different. This is how the government treats your tax dollars.

US House Votes To Impeach President Trump.
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/watch-house-democrats-debate-vote-formal-impeachment-procedures
