I agree with you that a carbon tax is stupid. Even if a person believes CO2 causes global warming, a carbon tax does not work. Just look at BCs record.

    1. How can I support a Premier who keeps us chained to the slave ship Canada. How can I support a Premier who believes the man made global warming caused by CO2 scam. How can I support a Premier who supports infant genocide. How can I support a Premier who is a Liberal at heart? Any help?

  1. Read a column in the Globe about how a carbon tax was the only way to ‘cost’ carbon effectively and have the government ‘limit’ climate change. Across the fold was an article about how high energy costs were hurting the poor… You can’t make this stuff up.

    1. Not one tax nor 100 taxes will alter the climate of the planet The stupid morons think starving and freezing will be good for the masses. I hope when all the socialist voters in Canada are finally shown the error of their ways they will turf all these stupid liberals, dippers and greeners. Hungry and cold people will eventually remove the impediments to their survival, elections will cease.

    2. This is what happens when you let economists think for you. They jump to a mechanism that produces the most efficient way of collecting a tax. None of them stop to wonder what the best way of reducing CO2 emissions might be – which is supposed to be their task.

      1. Steve, CO2 does not need to be reduced, it needs to be increased. The more CO2 the greener the freaking planet. That sir is a fact. Stick computer models where sun don’t shine.

    3. Being a leftist drone means never having to say “I learned something today”. That ideas with good intent can cause harm… well, that’s conservative thinking so it must be badthink.

  2. Ah, but his reward is the knowledge that he’s saving the environment for all the Gretas of the world, not that the insufferable brat would care.

  3. A mean old sort, he is, considering that his paternal grandfather, Charles Trudeau, became wealthy when he sold le gazzzzolinn!
    What a hypocrite!

  4. The Floggings Will Continue Until Morale Improves. quote Capt. Bligh.
    Go UDI Alberta Go UDI.

    1. Well Alberta UDI sure won’t happen with Premier Kenny. Look at his first budget. A measly 7.7% reduction in the public sector over 4 years while the private sector has already taken a 20% hit. He is behaving like an orange man instead of a blue man. If he was serious the first year should have seen a 20-25% reduction of the public sector. Like others had predicted, Kenny will not be Alberta’s savior.

  5. The good farmer should be thanking the principled conservatives from outside the Prairies who voted for PPC. Elections have consequences.

    1. What a dumb thing to say. The PPC was wiped out. Completely. And at best – at absolute _best_ – their presence and votes cost the Conseratives less than 10 seats, which would _not_ have changed the ultimate outcome.

About 65% of Canadians voted Lib, NDP, Green, or Bloc. That’s what kept Trudeau in power. That and Scheer’s _pathetic_ campaign. Max certainly had nothing to do with _that_.

      1. Would not change the outcome? Ten seats you say?
What is the current size of Aladdin-Dogmeat coalition? 181. Subtract ten seats and we’re at 171, one seat margin.
At the end of Aladdin’s first round of sodomizing the coutnry there were 9 independents (eight plus Maxipad). Can you extrapolate from here?

        1. You are working on an assumption that all the votes were in 10 riding. The vote was split across 330+ riding and they only had 1.7% of the vote. So maybe 1 or 2 riding was affected at the most opportunistic outlook .

          1. You completely don’t understand what we’re talking about.
In ten* ridings the number of PPC and CPC votes exceeded LPC votes. Hence if principled cretins who voted PPC used their alleged brain cells and voted CPC, LPC would be down ten seats and thus a coalition of LPC and NDP would have one seat margin.

*I thought it was seven but I.M. says it was ten.

          2. Being a conservative requires blaming someone else, anyone else, for your and your tribes’ failings.

          3. UnMe this was a human conversation. Clearly not meant for you and outside your reach, so stay out of it and don’t try to keep up.

      1. Hey Bob. What did being a citizen of Canaduh get me?
FU#$&Ked in the ass again. I think that will probably be the LAST time.
        FREE SASKABERTA NOW !!!!!!
I have been trying to tell you prairie dwellers, Canaduh doesn’t want you, just your money.
Time to respectfully decline, PERMANENTLY !!!!

    1. Well, I guess that is the only upside of this weeks news. Brutally cold winter and North African and Middle Eastern immigrants will mix to make Moronto larger, no immigrants want to see -36*C for too long. Alberta needs to become a free republic to control our own borders and immigration policy. You have got to know Butts and his wife Trudope have BIG PLANS for replacing the Canadian population with the 3rd World. Wake up, Alberta !!!!!!!!!!

        1. …and a Police Force
          …and Collect their own Taxes
…and create their own Pension – EI Fund system
…and Fund their own Health Care

Oh, i think that would be the Firewall now wouldnt it.?
And what’s kenney doing..? SFA but Whinning and going on about consitutional this that and the other thing.

THAT TRAIN HAS LEFT THE STATION JASON
The Election and subsequent hiring of Steven Gibeault (Ex Pembina Institute & virulent Anti Oil Sands PUKE), as the Liberal Govts Go-between on some BS Reconciliation with Alberta-Sask should be a CRYSTAL CLEAR GONG to you that nothing will ever change.

CALL A FKN REFERNEDUM Jason….if only to see what appetite there is in this province…but, to behonest. I think you’re petrified of finding out.?

  6. Gee, there were comments from quite a few neo-Marxist pole smokers on board with “carbon” taxation.
    #CanadianDecline

    1. There is that good old Socialist edumicatshun system, pumping out more good, little Socialists for the Motherland Canaduh. Isn’t it grand having overpaid union teachers indoctrinating your children to be able to freeze to death waiting for the government to come and save them. The future looks rather bleak.

  7. Climate Change taxing is like King Canute putting his throne into the tide and telling it to cease and desist. First, he didn’t understand the mechanism of the tides. Second, he couldn’t control the mechanism of the tides. And third, it was all for show so it accomplished precisely nothing. In the same manner, because none of the climate predictions have come to pass, then first, they don’t understand the mechanism of climate change (mostly the sun). Second, they cannot control the mechanism of climate change. Third, it is all for show and accomplishes nothing. And fourth, it is more insidious than the control of the tides because they are trying to change how all economies everywhere work, and will damage them enough that they may stop working entirely. It is all about control, but not control of climate, just tyranny.

It is well past time to tell these few that the many want them to step off or suffer the wrath of the majority.

    1. Funny, I often make that same comment on the CBC and the mods always block it. Gee I wonder why.

    2. I do believe:
      Christina Figueres & Ottmar Edenhoffer;
Both Top Execs at the UN’s IPCC

Have Categorically STATED; “Climate Change has nothing to do with the Environment, rather we have set ourselves the goal of fundamentally Changing the Planetary Economic Model of the Past 150 Years”

Killing Western Hemisphere Capitalism is their means of killing some 6-7 Billion Humans on the planet to attain their oft desired “sustainable” Planet as envisioned by Maurice Strong and his supporters world wide…Your ELITES.

AGW & the Rest is simply a Hoax & BS Propaganda to attain that goal & TAX the living daylights out of every EuroCentric Westerner on the planet.

  8. $6694.64 if you add up the tax.
$23989.30 for the gas delivered without tax.

    $6694.64 / $23989.30 = 28% tax rate.

In 4 years it will be 50%.

Plus I call BS on the “gas delivery service”. What that does is it takes away the price of the commodity and replaces it with a service that is a monopoly. They can charge you anything for delivery.

    1. Steve

In early 2019 my monthly bill showed $34.55 for cost of gas and $30.58 for carbon levy. That’s a tax rate of 88%!

And people wonder why i didn’t vote for Notley.

      1. Geez Louise…that’s a lot of tax. Ontario is in the process of decoupling delivery from cost of production in the electricity market – so that they can raise the overall cost.

      2. What the? The C-tax levy on its own is over 35%. The highest VAT rate I can find is Hungary’s 27%. The only one I can find north of 35% is Chile’s 50% tax on “pyrotechnic items”; bad news if you want to blast out a roadcut in the Andes or start an insurrection, I guess.

But the charming Mr. Guilbeault tweets “May I remind @PremierScottMoe that 70% of Canadians just voted for parties that support #carbonpricing (oh, and by the way, you lost twice in the courts).”

This is going to be unpleasant, even (or maybe especially) for that 70% (the figure’s actually closer to 64%, if I’m doing the mental math right).

Interesting Captcha – it asks me for buses and shows a u-Haul trailer.

  9. So, when are all you western guys blockading the Environment Canada offices?

  10. We pay our gas bill annually and it showed up on all of last years grain drying. 963 dollars retroactive, and will easily be over 1000 for this year. Here you go justin, now where is my rebate ?

  11. This tax is a fraudulent tax for fake science ! Until we stand up to it the progressive left; they will keep pushing it!!!

Anthropogenic Climate change is a fraud: Scientist to follow; Professor Valentina Zharkova, Dr. Tim Ball, Dr. Patrick Moore, and Dr. Gary Smith——-to mention a few! “How to Destroy the Climate Hoax” Michael Creighton . Senator Marc Morano–” Politically Incorrect Guide Climate Change”

The left have picked the demon CO2 which is ridiculous !

  12. Elections have consequences.

The Harper government plan back in 2008 involved carbon credit trading and cap & trade. Costs were going to be passed on to cosumers. The goal was to reduce emissions 20% by 2020 & 65 per cent by 2050.

The Harper Feds then went ahead and rubber stamped those Wind turbine projects in Ontario that provide the oil sands producers & pipelines with carbon offsets in addition to nice profits paid by electricity consumers.

What’s preferred? The plan Harper put on the table or the Liberal plan? It doesn’t make difference cuz in the end you will be getting walloped with both. We in Ontario already are.

As long as pragmatist voters keep voting for politicians who support the globalist agenda, the floggings will continue.

  13. ok TURDoo 2.0, if *I* purchase a farm and proceed to operate it by REMOVING all carbon from the operation,
    can I dodge the tax?
    whut fcukin imbeciles.
and Im NOT talking about the LIEberals, but the ones who *continually* put them in orifice (note the spelling)

  14. The median voter, again, is not a Saskatchewan farmer.

She is a dingbat from suburban Toronto who hasn’t worked at an honest job since her high-school shifts at Starbucks, and thinks of the carbon tax as a way to both save the planet and put an extra few dollars in her pocket at tax time to spend on her hair and fancy cocktails with her frenemies.

Paying the gas bill she delegates to her father, husband, or live-in boyfriend, as applicable. God help any of them if they ask for the rebate money. If she has a brother on the Prairies, he probably never visits, calls or e-mails any more, having long since tired of being held personally responsible by his sister for global warming. So why should she care?

More to the point, unless Premier Moe knows how to get his hands on a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile he can aim at Ottawa, why should Justin care?

  15. “…unless Premier Moe knows how to get his hands on a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile he can aim at Ottawa….”

Well, one of the first thinks the Western Provinces could do is to start their own Pension Program and divert the money that goes to CPP. It would be less money for Ottawa to piss away.

But the ballistic missiles have to be delivered by an angry populace against federal institutions: blockades, interruptions, non-compliance, etc. Even our bought-and-paid-for press wouldn’t be able to ignore widespread and repeated civil disobedience. It is the only thing that has any chance of waking up our dull urban populations and lily-livered politicians.

    1. Civil disobedience only works when it’s in aid of something our masters wanted anyway. Otherwise, they are rarely above sending in the army with orders to shoot to kill.

The people of the Prairies are not getting their freedom until either they shoot their way out or (far more likely) President Trump decides he’s had enough of that Chinese puppet state next door, and that his legacy should be a united, free and prosperous north America, with the Arctic Ocean as its northern border wall.

President Trump has plenty of those nukes, and Ottawa would only need one.

More probably, American tanks would enter Calgary, Edmonton, Regina and Saskatoon unopposed, to be greeted as liberators. If Justin were crazy enough to try to resist his overthrow, what passes for Canada’s forces would most likely desert en masse or offer their assistance to their American allies in ridding the world of the Dauphin. Even in Ottawa I doubt American cavalry units would face resistance more formidable than a few woke youths with nose rings and bad hair throwing stones, dog poop and curses at the tanks.

I plan to be on Sussex Drive that day myself, giving the tanks directions to Rideau Cottage.

  16. The fuel company is now acting as the carbon tax collector for the gubmint.

Why don’t the farmers stick together for once and hold back paying the carbon tax portion of the fuel bill and tell the fuel company they can wait to get paid until the rebate check comes in.

  17. Well…yeah. The idea is that the cost will incentive less CO2 emission. As the carbon emitting fuel use comes down so does the tax. Not a fan but the cost is part of the idea.

    1. And….How many acres of land does each farmer have to give up to install low energy density, not 100% reliable, solar panels and wind turbines?

  18. “Civil disobedience only works when it’s in aid of something our masters wanted anyway. Otherwise, they are rarely above sending in the army with orders to shoot to kill. ”

    Gosh, Is that right?

    Like, every time?

  19. Once all the taxes are collected on the whole food growth, processing, warehousing, transporting, marketing, and selling systems, people still won’t have a clue why food prices are steadily, and constantly, rising.
