His loyal media discussed with him how personal attacks by Scheer against him, and Scheer’s campaign of division is causing threats of violence against Justin. Why even “Greta” may be in danger when she visits Alberta. We know what people in Alberta are like. Another great day of fear mongering by Great Leader. Must be Doug Ford’s fault.

  4. I have no doubt that Trudeau, like Harper and other Prime Ministers, has had serious threats to his life. Given the complete disgrace and contempt Trudeau would receive from Canadians if he faked a security threat, I think there was a real threat last night.

    I also think Team Trudeau and his journalists are milking this for all it is worth which is tacky and reeks of desperation. Canadian security personnel are being turned into props for election gain. Not a classy or dignified move at all.

    More concerning to me is the security threat was so serious that it required a unprecedented security presence to protect Trudeau but not so serious that it required evacuating the Liberal party supporters or cancelling the event. That seems incongruent. Unless, of course, the risk of injury to Liberal party supporters while protecting himself was a sacrifice Team Trudeau was willing to make. What does that say about Trudeau’s character? Nothing good. Is Trudeau like the rich aristocrat guy in the Titanic movie who sneaks onto the women and children’s lifeboat? Looking out for number 1, to hell with everyone else. The people at the Liberal campaign rally are husbands and wives, fathers and mothers too….just like Trudeau. What about their safety?

But our $600 million media and $1,5 billion CBC will assure us that it is all kosher and only racists, haters and sundry planet destroying deniers will not believe.

      1. I can see why it’s difficult to give Trudeau the benefit of the doubt. Trudeau has a difficult relationship with the truth, to say the least. “To such people, there’s no difference between the truth and a lie undiscovered”.

        But going that low? Manufacturing a fake threat for a few votes or to slime opposition parties? That would be lowest of the low. Unforgivable if discovered.

        No, I think there was a threat of some sort and Team Trudeau decided not to let the opportunity go to waste. They “embellished” the threat level but forgot to think about obvious inconsistencies like why would they put their own supporters at grave risk if the threat was as so serious it required Trudeau being surrounded by security, blast blankets and a wearing a military vest. Or not securing the entrance or searching guests, if that’s accurate. Actions (or lack of) that are incongruent with the dramatic photo and breathless reporting of a severe security threat.

        1. An analogy:
          In my lab we had a chart of mandatory Action Levels from an international body. Each action level corresponded to specific standard operating procedures. If the contamination in the boiler was in action level 1 then we did X. The higher the level, the greater the action required and the less leeway in allowable time frames.

          That’s where this becomes confusing to me. On one hand the “action level ” of the security threat against Trudeau appears quite high, unprecedented even. On the other hand, other actions indicate it wasn’t that serious of an action level because some pretty standard operating procedures seem to have been overlooked. I’m not sure how to reconcile the inconsistencies without more information.

          Anyone have the number for a foreign press reporter who might be curious? Time? UK Spectator?

The RCMP are just ecstatic at the chance to show the public how tough and all powerful they are, so strutting around a Liberal Party event full of unarmed Party supporters is the best event for them since High River.

          As to the threat, the example they’d have to show could have been sent over the internet from anywhere at any time, probably from Gerald on his lunch break.

      1. You’d be wrong, Garth. The farther north or more remote you get, the higher the proportion of First Nations you are likely to find in a Ranger Patrol, but recruitment is not based on race or ethnicity, it’s on living in the operating area of a Patrol.

        But that doesn’t mean those individuals posing as armed security for PM Castreau are Rangers. Even if it that is a Ranger emblem on their shirts (which I can’t see enough of to be sure one way or the other, and the only uniform shirt I’ve heard of the Rangers being issued is a red sweatshirt) doesn’t mean it isn’t Liberal party volunteers or commercial security guards performing security theatre,

        1. I can’t imagine any scenario in which Rangers would be providing the PMs security, even if he was travelling in their patrol area. The PMs security is an RCMP task.

        2. The captain of our local rangers and many of his soldiers are friends of mine because we all like to shoot at our rifle range. They still had their 303s last year. Supposed to be getting new Canadian design and manufacture 308 bolt actions soon (semi autos are not reliable when it gets really cold and if you shoot a bear with a 22 it gets really mad at you) but I haven’t seen any yet.
          I think probably half or more of the guys and gals have status cards but I would Bet you dinner out that you couldn’t pick more than three just by looking at them.
          The Tooner has it right. Race or ethnicity are not considered. Can he/she do the job? Will they obey orders? Are the only important questions.

        RCMP tactical units are clean shaven in case they need to don gas masks and use tear gas. Beards can corrupt the seal of the mask, and let gases into the mask.
        Only JTF2 operators would go about with facial hair like that. And they often escort members of the cabinet when they are abroad, especially in dangerous place like Afghanistan or Iraq. In Canada that’s exclusively an RCMP responsibility.

  14. I suspect that the security forces in evidence were real police/military/ex-military. I have no idea why they were there since this was supposed to be a liberal event so screening of people entering would have been fairly simple. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to do harm to Justin Twojets unless someone from his own party is upset because he is losing so badly. Either way it is a sad day for Canada that the PM would have a public dress rehearsal or that someone would threaten a sitting PM with violence in the middle of an election.

        This Highlights a perfect example of why Equalization has got to Stop. The PURSE was meant to be held by the Provinces.
        The Provinces gave the power of the purse to the Federal Government because of needing to finance WWI. It’s been PAID.

        The Confederation Act of 1867 never meant for the Federal Government to have this kind of power over the Provinces.

  29. Men who might be in various tactical units can collect various shirts and other bits of gear. Some of it has badges on it. Some of them work for private security firms. Some might even be in legit RCMP security details of various kinds and still end up with various bits of Rangers or other tacticool gear on.

    The look is very informal – seen in a group they stand out but if you saw one of them he wouldn’t stand out that much. I’d go with private security contractors. Which would also explain why there was no security at the door and the mismatch between alleged threat and response.

    Lastly, these guys are clearly standing out and are meant to be a deterrent. Security wearing uniforms and such are intimidating and help prevent random loonies rushing the stage. Real preventative security are invisible. You never notice them.

    Meanwhile, they don’t even touch on the obvious issue that is developing, a threat to national unity if the left does well in this election. I don’t even live in Alberta and I am becoming an Alberta separatist, or at least a western separatist, if this is going to be the pattern of federal and B.C. provincial politics, then there will be many even inside British Columbia who will want out of this crazy anti-resource nuthouse and into something that we can control ourselves. Who wants to be ruled by these nitwits from the left coast and the big cities of eastern Canada? The Bloc of course are just as bad for western interests although they might not be as hostile to Alberta on a personal level.

    Canadians need to realize that it’s not just everybody against Alberta, it’s going to turn into a fight between those who want a functioning economy and those who deal in socialist make believe. When conservative forces outside Alberta see any chance that Albertans would separate, the entire country will be engulfed in a similar battle. This should be happening within this election campaign but Scheer has been so timid that he won’t take on the issue full-blast, instead he hints and postures as a centrist, another all things to all people politician who at the end of the day is nothing to nobody.

  39. The public is owed a more detailed explanation of the alleged threat. Such an explanation obviously need not include details of sources and methods of intelligence gathering and analysis.

    What has been provided so far, however, is a sensational and entirely vague assertion, along with a lurid description of supposed responsory measures. This is wholly inadequate in the situation.

    I agree with much of the back and forth above about what I, in my ignorance, view as the oddness of those responsory measures: as an example, it’s disclosed that the PM is wearing a bullet-proofed vest, which would, I think, indicate that an attack involving one or more firearms was suspected to be imminent, which, if it happened, would require instantaneous action by security personnel, including the possibility of shooting back to neutralize the threat.

    Quite apart from why the PM would inexplicably expose a large gathering of his very own defenceless supporters to such a potentially dangerous situation, which would surely have had the knock-on effect of causing panic in the auditorium, why do all the claimed security personnel have their defensive equipment stored in carrying bags on their backs (including the plain-clothed officer — not in “tactical” garb — allegedly carrying a flexible ballistic shield with which to further protect the PM)? Having to remove the carrying bags from their backs, access and remove any weaponry from the carrying bags, possibly ready it for use — all the while keeping visual contact with the target and physically protecting the PM, possibly in the midst of panic — doesn’t seem to me, on its face, likely to produce “instantaneous action”.

    So, do tell us, please:

    – what was the nature of the threat, exactly?

    – generally, how did the intelligence services discover the threat: from broad-view “catch all” on-line surveillance, was it phoned-in, had the intelligence services had suspects under surveillance, etc? (Lord knows, in this country, it would be far too much to ask whether there was an ideological or similar motivation discerned by authorities, or what was the identity of the prospective perpetrators — unless, of course, the threat was definable on these counts as “white conservative”, whatever that is, in which case the details would be immediately and gleefully disclosed, which they have not been.)

    – how long had the authorities known about the threat (known wolf, for example)?

    – how did it happen that the authorities only came to respond to the threat once it was extant in the auditorium?

    Among other questions.

His numbers were way down at the Mississauga event HIS Liebral member were saying a number of about 2000 check the Rebel Ezra’s show someone sent a photo maybe 400 and the person whom took the photo also did a count of all whom attended. If Trudeau is worried about being a target he seem very happy to be a target laughing out loud. NO SECURITY at the main door where people were coming and going!!! WHERE WAS THAT SECURITY TO KEEP ALL THE VOTERS SAFE…NADA!! FAKE TRUDEAU!!
