B’nai Brith Canada is deeply disturbed by the New Democratic Party’s nomination of a candidate who was filmed affixing “warning” labels to Israeli products on Canadian store shelves and encouraging Canadians to boycott them.
Miranda Gallo, the NDP candidate for the Montreal riding of Saint-Laurent, starred in the troubling videos in 2016 as an employee of “Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East” (CJPME), an anti-Israel group. CJPME’s “Sticky Note Campaign” targets not just products hailing from areas disputed between Israel and the Palestinians, but even items produced in the Jewish State’s internationally-recognized territory.
The NDP are cool with it, though.

I think that technically this is true, we should judge the actions on whether we support Israel not whether we oppose anti-Semitism. I oppose her actions on the grounds that I support Israel’s right to exist within secure borders.

I once worked for an Israeli company in Canada in the 1970s. They had a permanent armed guard sitting inside the bullet-proof front door, CCTV cameras, the whole bit, just in case some “protestors” showed up. The Israelis had no illusions about the objectives or possible methods of their enemies. Well might we ask why the NDP is so involved in one particular foreign conflict as opposed to so many other others. Why does the NDP candidate not go labeling Chinese products for the actions of that totalitarian paragon of human rights abusers, which is a far more dangerous direct threat to Canada?
