        I will enjoy the the British series, “Lord Peter Wimsey” in its entirety. It looks very interesting and I’ve already started into “Strong Poison” series 1 episode part 1.

        (I love the elegance of the 1930s -1940s! It is wonderful to look at.
        I shall have to try food like an omelette with sugar and warm jam for dessert!)

        1. I would love to see it. How do you access it? I have only read the books. Do you know what one of his middle names is? It was featured in one of the stories. It is spelled like a common word generally avoided, but with a different pronunciation.
          Of course, I managed to misspell his last name. That spelling is part of the whimsy, I suppose.

        2. While on the subject of detective shows, I’ve ordered a number of movies recently and most of them are films noir. This weekend, I plan on watching Out of the Past (Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, and Kirk Douglas) and Murder, My Sweet (Dick Powell, Anne Shirley, and Claire Trevor).

          Earlier this week, I watched my copy of Station West (Dick Powell, Jane Greer, Agnes Moorehead, Burl Ives, and Raymond Burr). It’s a western film noir or is it a film noir set in the Old West, under-rated and mysteriously over-looked.

          If I have time, I might watch my Bullitt DVD as well.

          1. Those were great films. Used to watch with my mom. She liked Bogie, Gregory Peck, Alan Ladd, Robert Mitchum, Cary Grant, Spencer Tracy, Bing Crosby etc.

            I wouldn’t mind seeing the car scene in Bullitt again. Think I’ll find it on the web, now that you reminded me of what I’m missing.

        3. Thanks again. I found the series and just watched the part 1 you mentioned. I turned on the closed caption. It must be some automatic synthesizer, and has a lot of trouble with the British accent. You may find the errors interesting.
          Oh I forgot to mention. I don’t know about an omelette with sugar, but the Cantonese make a dim sum dish they call egg custard tart, or simply egg tart (phonetically in Cantonese Darn Tart). It has a flaky pastry cup about 4 cm. diameter (varies with the baker) filled with a sweet egg custard, then baked. You can order it when eating dim sum, or find it in any Chinese bakery. Most have smooth custard, but I have seen it slightly caramelized.
          Also, as kids in Hong Kong, we used to crack a raw egg into a very hot cup of hot chocolate, and wait until the egg white turns soft white, but the inside of the yoke is still slightly runny. We did that here until the scare about eating raw eggs.
          So these are two more sweet egg desserts if you are in the mood to try.

          1. Thank you I just might try the suggestions. Eggs are so versatile that one can do magic with them. I bake less now lately but I used to make a great Quiche Lorraine (4 eggs) and have a nice American recipe for Rum Cream pie (6 eggs) plus wonderful Caesar Salad, takes 1 egg. My neighbour is from H.K. and makes lovely butter tarts to die for. I must ask her if she makes ‘Darn Tart.’

            As for the Peter Wimsey Detective Series, I plan to enjoy it over the next few days and weeks. I didn’t have to put on any close caption feature as I’ve these lovely cushioned BOSE brand ear phones so I get a double chance at volume control.

All of Alberta showed up because as he stated, everyone in the province loves him and he loves Alberta. And of course he ranted about not voting for Harper and that balance budgets are evil. Meanwhile at the leaders debate that he didn’t attend, the main theme from the Greens and NDP was that EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FREE!! And all pipelines, resource development, and fossil fuel heating should be stopped. No answers on where all this electricity is supposed to come from to replace gas heating. Greens and NDP also ranted against Israel. Today we can expect more rants from Trudeau’s media about the most important issue facing Canadians, abortion.

      A quick check at the Election Canada web site shows that Alexander Neve recently contributed $500 to the Green party (in late 2018), and $500 to the NDP (in 2017). This should raise eyebrows, since a leader of any charity-based organization ought to stay clear of organized politics. What’s more interesting is that these financial contributions are the first Neve has made going back to 2004, when Election Canada records were first posted on line. So Neve is becoming more and more politicized, and he is dragging his Amnesty International Canada group further into the political muck.

    2. FYI, giving a speech is not fighting back.

      When are we going to get someone who will make them hurt, by any means necessary? When are their private planes going to start having crashes killing all on board? Until I see that, I don’t think any fighting has started.

  18. Just want to point out that CBC News has assigned Katie Simpson to cover the Andrew Scheer campaign, and David Common to cover the Rt. Hon. Trudeau’s campaign. Ms. Simpson is stidently pro-Liberal, and on last night’s CBC National she claimed Scheer, during his day campaign visits, was “continually thrown on the defensive”, given Trudeau’s attacks against his views on abortion. She said nothing about what Scheer said during the day.

    And this morning David Common, in covering Trudeau’s campaign out in BC, mentioned nothing about the ongoing investigative reporting of the obstruction-of-justice cover-up, and just parroted Trudeau’s policy announcements. He said that Trudeau was “showing his strong support” of British Columbia by being out there so early in the campaign.

    I realize CBC News is continually slagged for being a pro-Liberal mouthpiece. But it is so true. Here Katie Simpson and David Common do not even try to hide their corrupt biases.

    If the Europeans had not discovered the America’s in 1492, I can well imagine the “Green” lifestyle all of the Indigenous population would be enjoying today.     While I was standing in a grocery store lineup earlier today, I saw the cover of a certain celebrity rag. The main item was about how the cheating scandal is taking its toll on Lori Loughlin. Apparently, her husband is about to start divorce proceedings and that’s only the beginning.
