Like the Soviet Politburo which voted for it’s own dissolution in December 1991, this is what the UK parliament is in the process of doing. What point is there to the very existence of ‘the Parliament of the Commons’ if it ignores the referendum vote of the Common people?
Boris Johnson has a mandate from the people who won the referendum to prorogue parliament again and again until either the Parliament recognizes the will of the Common people or until the rogue parties within parliament get a new mandate by allowing an election.
One night Queen Elizabeth was walking her dog on her grounds at dusk and a young guard who heard them but didn’t see them fully shouted,”Who goes there?” The Queen replied “one Queen and one Corgi.”
You bet SHE wants Johnson to do Brexit with success. She is supposedly not supposed to be political…but in this case she must. Who could blame her? The situation is getting ugly fast.
“She is supposedly not supposed to be political”
Says who?
The point of Parliament isn’t for a bunch of jumped up twerps to impose their will on the Commons as if they themselves were Sovereign.
We already have a Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II. If MPs won’t represent the Common people after the Common people are asked what they want and tell the MPs what’s what, but instead act as though as MPs they themselves are sovereign, then the MPs are USURPERS.
The purpose of Parliamentary representation is to represent the WILL of the Common people to the Monarch.
The Common people have already spoken. They want Brexit.
To avoid being political, the Queen usually follows the advice of the Prime Minister who is definitely political. If the House of Commons does not like the Prime Minister they are free to pass a motion of no confidence. Unfortunately in the UK, this only guarantees an election if no-one can form a government in 14 days. The idiots effed up the system of requiring the government to maintain confidence of the House. In the present situation the Commons has no confidence in the government but they are too scared to put the matter to the people in an election.
If there is enough support in the House of Lords, they can delay a non-money bill for up to a year.
This won’t be necessary. The House of Lords will add a slew of amendments, each one of which needs to be debated, and therefore the bill will never pass in the upper house. I have been reassured of this by experts!

His best bet is to delay presenting the bill for the Queen’s assent before prorogation. That is solely under his control. If I was the PM, I would not rely on anyone or anything else to stop the Remainders, including his own family. There is evidence of that assertion. As CTH says, there are Trillions at stake.
This is the same way they kept the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul, rather than Saint Peter Minnesota.

You think Trump is contemptible? That’s what your contempt for the voters … your contempt for Democracy gets you. No MORE politicians. No MORE political class. Take control of bureaucracies. Power to The People, right ON!
This is old, the CBC started early in its policy of ignoring Bernier by not interviewing him, only their puppets.
I can only blame Harper for not ridding the country of the propaganda arm of the Liberal party when he had a chance. A chance that may never come again.
In the event, Boris is headed to Dublin on Monday for another useless meeting with the gay Indian Teeshock of southern Ireland, when by rights he should be at home consulting with his generals on sorting out the only real obstacle to Brexit—restoring British law, order and liberty throughout the island of Ireland, and putting the IRA out of business.
I’m not sure BJ can serially prorogue. I heard statements quite the opposite on hugh hewitt this week.
Further I’m not sure the queen would let him.
I don’t get that either. Prorogation ends a Parliamentary session, so to sit the next day they’d have to open Parliament again, Throne Speech, oaths bill, then debate on the Speech…we are in uncharted waters thanks to Cameron caving to the LDs on fixed terms.
Here’s a theory being put out at American Thinker.
What happens if the Queen witholds assent? There seems to be case that she is obliged to.
If the PM asks the Queen to withhold consent, to keep it non-political, she should withhold consent. The remedy is that Parliament can hold a vote of no confidence. If Jeremy Corbyn can find over 50% support within 14 days he becomes PM. If not there is an election. Withholding consent, if requested by the PM, is an absolute to prevent the Queen from making a political decision. Note that Parliament and ultimately the British people get the last word.

I think the Lords passed the bill on Friday.

I can hardly for the voters to apply a colon cleansing to the mother of all Parliaments.

It would appear that such a colon cleansing is also necessary in Canada.
