A rich New Yorker found himself on an island ruled by a Russian aristocrat. The aristocrat gave him a head start, with no weapons, and proceeded to hunt him like an animal. No surprise that the movie identifies the “elite” with Russian aristocrats, they have the example of the Clintons and Biden. The short story didn’t give the rich New Yorker a name, but I am sure Hollywood can think of one.
The thing is, in the story, the rich New Yorker is a big game hunter, and can fight back. In the end, he kills the Russian. I am sure that is not the ending in the movie. But life imitates art, and in 2016, a rich New Yorker who knew how to take care of himself really defeated a Russian collaborator. I

Having watched the trailer, it is obvious that this is a cruelly satirical film about class differences a la The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie; Boudu Saved from Drowning (remade as Down and Out in Beverly Hills); Last Year in Marienbad; with a little Heathers/Hunger Games/Battle Royale/The Purge on the side.
This is clear because among other things, the “kick ass” heroine is a Red Stater who is fighting back against the “elites.” The camera lingering on the caviar on the private jet etc is another give away.
