There never was any debt. Whites were enslaved as well. Blacks owned slaves as well. History of Africa is a history of slavery. From the times before Jews left Egypt till today, slavery has been present in Africa. It was only briefly eliminated under some colonial rule and in many places came back since. A lot of Africans will soon be owned and worked to death by Chinese.
Finally, common failures of black people in North America have nothing to do with slavery or present or past discrimination of any kind, and everything to do with their culture.

Where did slaves in the Americas actually come from? Yes, of course, most came from Africa, but how? There were very few gangs of white guys with nets running around Africa trying to capture people to ship to the New World as slaves. Instead, African kings found it profitable to sell criminals, prisoners of war, trouble-makers and such to the whites in permanent trading colonies on the coast. Entire chains of nations traded captives to one another, with them going north to be sold to the Arab market or east or west (generally the former) to be sold to Europeans.
For what it’s worth, Africans (read Arabs from North Africa) conducted extensive slaving missions off-continent, raiding Europe as far as Iceland and Ireland to bring back white slaves for market.
Bottom line – given the total complicity of African nations in selling their own people into slavery, are similar demands for reparations being made against countries such as Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria? If not, why not?

However, their descendants are now living in America, while the descendants of those Africans who were fortunate enough to avoid being turned into slaves are living in Africa, wishing they could live in America. There is no need for reparations, as every single descendant of a slave is doing better than if their ancestor had never been enslaved.

After checking the bill for this, they will probably decide that communism is a better way to deal with the issue. Once every one is equal there will be no room for complaints– or at least no one will be allowed to complain.

I’m not a historian but its not hard to find evidence the war of northern aggression was much more about money (tariffs) than the slavery issue.
