We went to meet him at sea, in the air and on land. Against total war, we have brought and shall continue to bring total effort.

      For nearly two years we have been at war. In the war we have had from the beginning two major tasks. We continue to play two major parts. Like Britain, we are a nation at war with all the power of our resources and all the strength of our will. For nearly two years we have gathered our strength as we have taken our allotted place in the conflict. Our soldiers, our sailors and our airmen are with Britain and her other allies in the front line of battle. On the other side is the spirit of Nazism and Fascism with their “coarse material standards,” their “cult of power as an end in itself,” their “subordination of personality to mechanism” and their “worship of an elaborate and soul-destroying organization.” This false and evil spirit has, in our own day, in our own and other lands, permeated all too deeply many phases of social and industrial life. It must be the purpose of our high endeavor to destroy it for all time.

      While that work is being done, it will be ours, as well, to do all that lies within us to make supreme upon the earth that friendship among men and nations which has ever lain hidden in the heart of mankind.

    I hear some say Scheer ain’t worth voting for and I hear voting for Max will only ensure Trudeau will get re-elected.

  31. Here’s how I see it. The gelded leader of the conservatives (in name only) agreed to yank the video feed because the vast majority won’t sit through an audio recording. Video would have got extensive play and the left would have a field day with this. There’s no question in my mind the 3 participants will be written off as racist/bigot/homphobe, etc. I suspect all of the political parties have fired up their election war rooms and this is but a preamble as to how the election will be fought. It will be based soley on identity politics and the conservatives will once again permit the liberals to define them. It’s going to be a flat out, rock-em, sock-em exercise and the conservatives will be on the defensive, trotting out, “No, we’re not that bad”. When will real conservativism come to Canada? The conservatives, choosing to “play it safe” by distancing themselves from contentious issues will all but guarantee a liberal victory. Steyn was on a roll, but unfortunately the smug committee members were on a power trip. Steyn also knows that when you’re leaped upon by the modern day SJW for your opinions, the correct response isn’t, “OK, I’ll try to do better”, but a more appropriate, “No, you’re an asshole”.
