How do you think this is going to end? The big strategic mistake was made by western leaders at the end of the cold war by failing to bring Russia into the west. They failed to embrace India in the west as well. Instead of driving a wedge between Russia and China and India and China, they have forged Russia and China into a unholy alliance of necessity to survive the recreated Cold War with Russia restarted by the Clintons and NATO.

There were a lot of mistakes made over decades. Not nuking Soviets in 1945 was the biggest one. Not nuking chicoms was the second biggest.
The real economic war between the USA and China is the reserve status of the American Dollar. That is the short term goal now of the Chinese and a lesser extent Russia. When the Petro Dollar created by Nixon collapses through debt owed to the Chinese, and oil market switches from the US dollar to the Chinese currency the war will be over for the west. The Kowtowing will be begin in earnest. In Canada some people will understand what it really meant when the Liberals sold off all of Canada’s strategic gold reserves.
