  1. I’m in Vancouver…have mercy. 1.71 / L

The true issue is with JT and him cancelling Northern Gateway – the perfect route for the pipeline. The twinning of the other pipeline through Burnaby/Vancouver is a bad idea on so many levels.

Not all pipelines are the same.

    1. So railcars are better?

      Make BC pay!

Shut off the flow from Alberta…

      Make it 5.00 / L

    2. “Not all pipelines are the same.”
Yeah the one that goes to the lower mainland should be filled with liquid shit.

    3. Given that most refined products in the Lower Mainland now come from Washington State refineries by truck, train and barge from crude from tankers from Alaska sailing through the “Salish Sea”, why not all of it? Screw the consumers of a province run by hypocritical green poseurs. Anyone against pipelines, fracking and oil sands shouldn’t be allowed to buy gasoline or heat their homes with NG as they are hypocrites. The majority of people from BC are in favour of Trans Mountain expansion. I’m one of them and I hope Premier Kenney only allows bitument to pass through BC.

    4. That TM pipe that brings most of the Lower Mainland’s fuel is 66 years old. It won’t last a lot longer, and when it fails, BCers will be paying huge prices for fuel. Washington can’t fill the gap, and they get some of their crude through that same old pipeline, too. Twinning the line isn’t just adding capacity; it’s relieving the strain on the old one.

And the physics of electric cars has to be addressed, too. If everyone in BC buys one, BC Hydro will need another 15 dams, meaning another 15 flooded valleys. Or windmills? Depending on the dam capacity, it would take as many as 1700 windmills to replace each of the biggest dams. When the wind blows, that is. How many square miles of forest need to be razed to install tens of thousands of windmills, all their access roads and powerlines? And who pays for the massive infrastructure upgrades to provide nearly double the kWh to every house that has an electric car?

Physics. They don’t seem to teach that in school anymore.

      1. That’s because electric cars are not the goal of green weenies, no cars at all is their holy grail.

      I predict 61 UCP; 23 NDP; 2 CFP; 1 AP = 87.

I do recognize that Rotten Rache and the Global-ists could squeeze out a cheat here. Notley took control of a lot of election resources to turn this vote her way and her folks are unhinged enough to try and steal one. I’m afraid if she does win I’ll go all Clinton-Obama and declare the result invalid.

    6. There’s no reason that the pipeline cant be built in its current alignment, thru Burnaby, you’re buying the BS of the environuts and canards of the opponents.
How are only oil tankers hazardous to whales? Still trying to figure that one out…….
So yes, Premier Kenney, as a BC resident, I IMPLORE YOU to turn the taps off. Horgan is a disingenuous twit, a puppet of Weaver’s, his lust for power has him beholden to the Green Twits, making stupid decisions based on their power grab.
Turn off the taps, we will survive!

      1. What he said (I’m a BC resident too).

This is what comes from shutting down the refineries in Burrard Inlet too.

      2. There is a pipeline there already….over 55+ years. The new pipeline would be an improved one.

  2. If there is fight with oil / wine / lumber, etc the people on both side will be hurt as we are just pawns.

  3. Voted around 2:00. Steady flow of people in and out. No hassle. A note. CFP signs are almost identical to UCP. My area is rural and will return a UCP candidate.

  4. Going to be interesting to see what happens to the Notley Dictator Party (NDP) of Alberta.

I was told by Facebook not to use the term: the “Notley Dictator Party (NDP) of Alberta” or “tRUDEau” – even though that is how his name is spelled.

With the Notley Dictator Party hiring extra Provincial “government” workers, the teacher’s union and her husband representing the Federal unions …. Edmonton will probably stay with the Notley Dictator Party while most of the province goes to another party.

Get out and vote if you live in Alberta … your vote will make a difference.

  5. We are assured that full results will not be known till Wednesday or later.

This, of course, means CBC will call it for the UCP in an hour or two. Rachel’s outlived her usefulness to her masters. I will be floored if the UCP get less than 50% of the vote.

  6. I’m looking forward to sipping a dram of fine whisky while I listen to Notley’s concession speech. This should be an hour or two after the polls close so I won’t have to stay up too late.

    1. ha ha !!
with my inclination to speed read (and go back when the words get misread) ‘concession’ first appeared as ‘confession’. ha ha ha !!!

notley dicktater party. I like that. Im gonna use a variation of that next ontariowe election.

  7. On the way back from voting I ran into a leftist neighbour I expressed the idea that we needed to change the government to get the economy going again. She retorted about it all being oil and gas and how we needed to diversify our economy. I didn’t get a chance to ask her how or into what or by whom. She was off to vote socialist.

    1. Hoping Albertans lay a beat down on the neo-Marxist party.
But also hoping they’ve learned some lessons.
      1. Never Vote For Lefty Prog Full Retards.
      2. Hold the conservative’s feet to the fire if they misspend or overspend one nickel.

    2. I had a similar convo with a hardcore leftist friend as well. She fully believes that the UCP are racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., but her crowning argument was the “diversify our economy” one. I asked her “diversify into what”, but she had no real answer and just mentioned green energy windfarms & solar power, and that the government might need to incentivize some unspecified industries. When I asked her what unspecified industries and how we were going to export green energy she had no answer other than something about powerlines and cheap energy for Albertans, and then she got annoyed and told me she wanted to change the subject. The problem is that she truly is a kind and compassionate person, but also believes that we worry too much about money. Yes, she has a government job.

        1. Oddly enough, she’s always been good with her personal finances. I just think she believes that there is plenty of room for higher taxes on the rich and corporations, but doesn’t understand that wealth migrates when taxes rise and opportunity falls. She also believes that profits are immoral or something, idk. She’s a good person but a classic low-info lefty.

  8. I had a Baskin-Robbins type of ballot paper: all sorts of candidates to choose from, including communist.

      1. I live in Red Rachel’s riding, so she was listed separately from the commie. Then again, she’s New “Democrat”, which means she’s just the low-calorie version.

  9. Was out for a run with our riding association president this morning. He says internal polling shows it’s a close race provincially. That’s if polls can be believed.

  10. I voted UCP but I hope that they don’t turn into the old PC’s. I hope Kenney is more like Klein than Getty, Reford, Prentiss, etc. Even if they do become liberal in power, it was nice to be a part of Notley’s end.

    1. They pretty much are the PCs when the PCs weren’t totally awful, and that’s being optimistic. The merger was a mistake.

  11. Alberta send in the sucker trucks and get that shit out of Alberta. Here comes the Honey Wagon for Ratshit Nutter

  12. I don’t want British Columbians to pay $5 for gas. I don’t want Saudi Arabian oil to come to the East coast. I want my vote to count the same as someone in Charlottetown or Laval. I want a country that works. That respects the rule of law. Where ALL are equal before that law. Where my children and the children across this nation have greater opportunities for prosperity and freedom than we can fathom today. Where my children are not deliberately attacked and have their livelihood and prosperity threatened simply because of the geography and demographics of their birthplace.

Unfortunately, we don’t live in such a nation.

I voted. My hand hovered over the Independence candidate. I am ashamed to say I didn’t vote for them because I just felt that I can’t take the chance of having CUPE, AUPE, ATA, and UNA destroying my province and making it more of a vassal of a distant and indifferent dictatorship.

    1. Exactly the way I voted too. First get rid of Notley then get rid of the eastern bas….ds!

  13. Crank up the gas prices. I live near the border and take advantage of the lower prices. Screw the greenies and the pinkos in Vancouver.

  14. Go Kenney.

Today’s election is not just any old provincial election. It will make history in Canadian politics.

This is part one of a magnificent one-two punch that is coming Trudeau’s way.

Polls close 7 PM BC time. Beer in the fridge. Big beef bone for the dog. Got a close friend on the ground in Calgary who will be out dining with business associates tonight and will be giving me updates from the field.

Relish this one friends. This is the start of the end of Trudeau’s short reign.

  15. Here is a guide to decoding media “analysis…”

    (1) “Nasty election campaign” means left likely to lose.

    (2) “surprisingly competitive” means NDP not eliminated altogether.

    (3) “divisive” means somebody blabbed a bit of the truth.

    (4) “right wing extremist” is a person who would be considered normal in 1957.

    (5) “progressive” is a person who wants to grab your stuff and go on holiday to Cuba after selling it.

    1. Sorry, must correct you. Item 4 should be “right wing extremist” is a person who IS normal in 2019 but actually said something contrary to the accepted orthodoxy

  16. From my Facebook feed, online observations and conversations with some friends, it’s readily apparent that the NDP’s hate-filled rhetoric in conjunction with their concerted, well-funded (including lots of foreign money) smear campaigns against the UCP have been effective, at least to some uncertain degree. Kenney and many Conservative candidates have been labelled racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, anti-Semitic, transphobic, etc, etc, etc – you get the idea – and low-info voters are lapping it up like the good little useful idiots they are. Having seen decades of such dishonest political discourse, it’s astounding to me how often it works, and that’s why I am not entirely confident of a UCP election.

If the NDP wins, then Alberta is royally pooched. I know that personally it will probably mean no work at all. I’m already working only about 20-30% of what I did just a year or two ago, and dipping into my RSPs to get by. I know of several projects that are not being committed to until the election is over, and you don’t need to be a genius to know what will happen if the NDP wins: cancellation, postponement, or at best diminished investment. If that happens I will have no choice but to move somewhere… but where? That’s the problem, isn’t it? Where in Canada have leftists policies NOT made it more difficult to find work, especially for someone like me who is an independent 50+ yo consulting geologist. We see the USA economy booming, but the only sector in Canada that seems to be growing is the government administrative sector (and that has been especially true in Alberta). It’s truly horrible.

I hope that I’m just being overly pessimistic here, but we’ve seen the lies and smears work elsewhere many times.

    Anyway, vote UCP!

    1. You are correct that the NDP did take the low road but the fact is the UCP didn’t exactly set the world on fire with enthusiasm either. They ran a Harper style campaign and as such did lots of stumping without any vision as to where they would take Alberta. Lougheed gave the impression of an new and exciting Alberta. Klein gave the impression of a new and exciting time in Alberta where hard work and strong will would pay off. Kenny, Getty, Special Ed, Redfraud and the Apprentice never had such vision and as such failed to connect to the people. I voted UCP only to get rid of the Nothead. I would have voted independent party but I didn’t want to split the vote. Get rid of Notley first then get rid of the Eastern Bas…ds next time.

    2. with that scenario, we see the conjunction again of humahn nature and propaganda; sad to say but a typical canadistan voter has been TOLD time and again via various ways and means where to put the X.
it does work; propaganda of the josef goebbels variety is *extremely* effective in reinforcing and cultivating cherished beliefs regardless of the distance to common sense and any sort of objectivity. truth really is very much under attack. the notion of a ‘connected world’ as soooo typical, became first and foremost another avenue for propaganda.

migawd, the majority of an *entire province* itching to hop on the ‘socialism fine by me [ps, whuts init fer me????] bandwagon’
take a long look at canadistan elections, how many times did an election wynner (note the spelling) SERIOUSLY fcukitup? hmmmm?
because . . . . . . . . . “people believe what they WANT to believe”. aka “short term gain, long term pain”.

  17. Lots of pessimism on this thread. I had been thinking Jason Kenny’s UCP should win. Still hoping so.

    1. UCP will win a majority.

This is a referendum on Trudeau and Notley combined.

NDP had a chance and they blew it by supporting Trudeau.

  18. Lots of pessimism on this thread. I had been thinking Jason Kenny’s UCP should win. Still hoping so. Alberta needs a break.

    1. I hear you, I’m one of those pessimists. An uninspired UCP campaign (probably thinking it was a sure thing) in conjunction with NDP lies & smears that is being embraced by many low-info voters does not inspire confidence. Also, the large number of other parties on the ticket will siphon off UCP votes (my conspiratorial mind of course wonders if that is by design). I voted UCP not because I think Kenney is that great, but because another NDP term will destroy a critically ill provincial economy.

      1. Fear not, Albertans are not the political suicide types.

NDP won last time because the PCs needed and deserved a kick in the pants.

And then Notley sealed her fate by demonstrating terrible judgement in trusting Trudeau.

The NDP is done. UCP majority despite a 7 out of 10 campaign.

  19. Let’s get the predictions rolling (87 total seats, 44 for majority) …..

    UPC – 61 seats
    NDP – 25
    AP – 1

      1. I pray that in the next election it is:
        Alberta Independence – 87 Seats

  20. An interested observer from Ontariowe…
I feel the little snit-fit Alberta had four years ago mirrors what we here in the centre-of-the-universe experienced close to thirty years past. The morning after Bob Rae’s victory a buddy admitted that while he voted NDP, he didn’t actually think they’d win. He spent the next four years committed to making sure that never happened again.
Hopefully the good people of Alberta feel the same after their four year hangover.

    1. Those f**king douchebag liberals f**king nearly killed the province over the last 15 years. Just watch, the NDP will be in power in Ontario after its next election and they’ll make that asshole Rae look like a red Tory.

  21. If wishes were fishes, we could all eat.
I really don’t have a strong feeling about which party is going to come out on top by this time tomorrow, so I will just sit back and watch it unfold.

  22. Got a good friend who has been in Calgary all day for a pile of investment meetings.

He just texted me to say he has not met *one* person who is even remotely on side with the NDP.

Ok, so this is a data point from the business community only, but I am willing to bet this maps at least somewhat similarly to the broader population.

NDP are done. Tomorrow the sun will rise on a new day of hope for Alberta and equally importantly for Canada.

    1. I live in SW Calgary. There is no sign on my street except for a lone NDP around the corner. The NDP in my riding decorated the Blvd with signs. UCP signs on quite a few properties the last few days, with a sprinkling of NDP. I’ve been robo called a half dozen times (it’s an NDP riding) in the last week or so. It’s like the pollsters just discovered us. I’ve been living at the same address for 20 years. Hardly a call before.
      Voted on Friday.

Despite the distraction this election in Alberta has to the flow of info today, people should read this Nat Post article:

      https://business.financialpost.com/opinion/peter-foster-mark-carney-and-michael-bloombergs-sustainable-scheme-to-dismantle-canadas-economy

It’s what we’re up against here in this election.

  23. From Twitter an hour ago FWIW:

“Here is an interesting summary of a note from someone involved with Kenney’s campaign. Sorry I can’t fit the whole analysis on Twitter. “Internal polling somewhere between 50-55%. Would not be surprised to see over 65 seats and maybe as high as 75 out of the 87 potential seats.”

    1. Predictions are fun, but I find it unlikely the NDP will repeat their popular vote of 2015, with or without a centre-right split:

      UCP 66
      NDP 20
      FCP 0
      AP 1

No matter the actual result, the accidental election and NDP era in AB is over forever. They won’t repeat this mistake.

  25. Hopefully Kenney cleans house. Start playing by the lefts rules and be ruthless in the first two years and then slightly less ruthless leading up to the next election. Get out the axes and start cutting…taxes, spending, regulations, government jobs etc.

Any riding that has voted to kill the energy industry needs the same treatment that Notley gave to the oil patch.

Vancouver better be paying 5 bucks a liter until tax is completed

The time for “nice” conservatives is over!

    1. Kenney will remove at least most of the spikes that Nutley rammed into Alberta’s throat. Don’t expect much more than that. Ford isn’t delivering much beyond that either.

  26. I wish you people would quit calling Nutly names, it upsets Brad Lost (Trost). I know, he told me so!!!!

  27. I’m nervous. 5 years ago I wouldn’t have been but I take nothing for granted. If the Americans were dumb enough to re-elect Obama and then elect Trump and Albertans were dumb enough to elect Notley in the first place….I take nothing for granted.

The craziest part about Notley is that, Gary Doer aside (he was always a closet Liberal), she is easily the most reasonable NDP premier/PM material you could find. It’s not even close.

EDIT: if the UCP forms government, I hope they don’t get any Edmonton seats. I don’t trust Kenney to cut the PS much anyway, but with some Redmonton MLAs in there I can just here them asking to please think of the childrenz.

    1. All polling has UCP hovering 50%ish and NDP 40ish. This is a big gap that is consistent in all the polls. MSM chirping about Notley catching up is really just increasing votes in her Edmonton base.

Trump/Clinton polling was always within two or three points either way. Trump won very narrowly and it wasn’t a surprise to anyone not worshipping the pantsuit clad grifter.

Notley’s carbon tax and failed alliance with the corrupt and detested muppet in Ottawa has sunk her. Agree she’s not as utterly contemptible as the groper.

      1. “All polling has UCP hovering 50%ish and NDP 40ish.”

Even that has me scared. The NDP at 40? Jesus. The margin should be far bigger!

  28. The only real question is if Alberta is tired of being a have Notley province or not.

  29. UCP 54 NDP 32 AP 1 LIB 0

My UPC candidate is a tool but I held my nose and voted for him. Actually I wouldn’t hire most of the candidates I’ve met–from any of the parties–to mow my lawn. Where do they find these people?

  30. I have noticed a lot of semi-trailers and rail cars coming in to Alberta from BC. They are loaded with BC sourced goods and goods imported through BC ports. Most are bound for consumers east of Alberta. For example, I believe that all auto’s produced in Japan, Korea etc and sold in Ontario and Quebec come through Alberta by rail.

I am sad to report that most of those goods appear to be both unsafely transported and also inherently dangerous to our pristine environment and all of Mother Gaia.

Alberta must have a strict regime of inspection for danger and taxation of dangerous goods. The inspection costs of say, $1,000.00 per truck or rail car, must be borne by the Eastern consumers putting us all at risk. Likewise, as consumers of products dangerous, those Eastern consumers must pay a “Future Carbon Usage Tax” of $200.00 per ton for all carbon the vehicles will produce over their entire lifetime.

We Albertans will collect and distribute those taxes and fees for the good of all mankind.

    Who’s with me?

    1. I love the way you think, but I would propose the same for the eastern Alberta Border, unless the freight originated in Sask. Also those very dangerous Natural Gas Pipelines coming through Alberta from Dawson Creek something has to be done there as well. They are scary.

    2. Fred, Excellent idea. But stop all BC fish. It grows in sewage and should be rejected on health grounds.

  31. It is time to clean out Edmonton. Send them back to wherever they came from. They are not Albertans.
