If you run a plant in the US you don’t have to pay carbon tax. The stupidity of the carbon tax is that it should be a sales tax so local products aren’t taxed at a higher level than imports. Forget that – the stupidity of the carbon tax is it’s stupid.
Drove by the GM plant in Ingersoll last week and 10km’s west of it along the 401 is a farmers field with 100’s of Chevy Equinoxs (the only vehicle it produces) that I guess there was no room for at the plant. My money is on this plant closing (ending GM’s Canadian car manufacturing)

In addition to the carbon tax to ‘grow’ the economy we have high electricity prices. Unifor and other unions are fully supportive of the push to more renewables. This drives jobs out of the country. Wake up union members, your unions are killing your jobs (and they are killing your pension plan investments).
