“…what I am interested in is helping everyone in Canada understand that we here in Alberta are not just a bunch of F350 driving cavemen that we believe strongly in the environment, we believe strongly in the economy and we believe in financial and environment prosperity for all Canadians.”
h/t Larry

But of course they are cavemen.
If they had any sophistication they would follow Chief Spence’s example and drive a Cadillac Escalade.
Then they would be allowed into the country club.
Who are the REAL cavepersons? Oh wait! When implying stupidity … it’s OK to say “men” … well it’s “cavemen” then …
https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/cold-weather-range-loss
Huh? Perhaps the REAL cavemen are the “futurists” … the “progressives” … who don’t understand physics. Keep your trips short, and your Tesla plugged-in. And for the love of Gaia!! DO NOT turn on the radio … or more accurately … your “connected” Internet address on the huge lit-up display panel
Let me fix that for you, that should read Cadillac Escapade.
We should understand that Nenshi isn’t pitching to the Ford crowd. He’s burnishing his creds for an eventual jump to the Federal Liberals.
Exactly. Will he jump for the fall election in 2019?
Not sure if there will be a safe seat for a Liberal in Calgary.
Liberals poised for a wipeout in Alberta. Nenshi will probably wait for 2023. Likely parachute into a GTA or lower mainland seat.
They can have His Arrogance.
I wouldn’t be so sure. LOTS of moooooslimbs in Calgary and they will vote for the purple dummy no matter what stupid things he says
I’m praying that there won’t be a liberal seat in all of western Canada in the late fall of 2019.
Oh please please please! ANYTHING to get him the hell out of the city!
F350 driving cavemen, or, in different language, the guys who grow our food, provide the fuel to warm our houses and power our cars, install and fix our plumbing, tow our vehicles out of snow drifts, build our houses . . . the list goes on and on
(I drive a 1998 Toyota Corolla, because it gets me all the hot chicks.)
Oh, he claims he has skeletons in his closet and he thinks we all do? Ah, no.
Time to move on, mister. Go East, young man!
Ahhh, no. He’s your problem, you keep him. We have enough virtue signalling political slimebags here already.
You created your Nenshis and your Notleys. You solve them.
SRC: we will keep the purple jeezus and redd.
You get to keep naomi klein, bob ray, jerry diaz, Judy rebbick….
Calgarians seem to like the FAT Multicult, Farting and Tap Dancing Goat Herder.
That hypernasal, overtaxing fop, noo, noo, noooo, noo, we don’t!
For those who are F350 drivers (cavemen or otherwise), there are options to the current hostile environment in Canada: https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/01/alberta_our_51st_state.html
Join a country that has a debt of $21 trillion?
Yah Joe 21 Trillion with 340 million people is a better bet than a country like Canada with 6 Trillion and only 15 million tax payers. I mean we had the 2 economic genius Chretien the Slack Jawed Drewling Idiot (Cretin) and Martin. Who sold all Canada’s 1100 Tonnes of Gold Reserves at 250/oz. and stole 54B from all the workers in Canada’s UI Fund. So much better right.
They also have google and Microsoft and and Procter and gable and and and. We have Bombadier. The government is not the economy.
Our federal debt is 670 billion. Where are you getting 6 trillion?
I believe US population is 370 million. Canada’s population is approx 37 million.
Don’t mind having a discussion, but let’s try to compare similar numbers, i.e. number of Canadian taxpayer versus number of US taxpayers.
Well It was 4.1 Trillion in 2011 so I just rounded it up. And just so you know the annual Operating deficit of 670B is not the Total Debt. It is the Operating deficit each year. It has never been below 200B since the days of Pierre The Commie Ass Sniffer. https://www.fraserinstitute.org/article/243000-bill-courtesy-canadas-governments US population is 328M https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_the_United_States Canada’s Population 37 M https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_of_Canada In 2014 27.5 M Canadians filed Taxes of that number 9.1 M Canadians did not pay any taxes, leaving leaving only 18.4 million Canadians who paid any taxes. https://www.taxpayer.com/news-releases/ctf-study–who-pays-canada-s-income-tax-bill- Didn’t do us numbers but at about 50% that still leaves 150-160M who paid taxes. Pretty much shows how screwed Canadians are. A population about the size of California with the Debt load of the EU.
Yahoo bring it. In the run up, Block the rail lines running east and west. Stop all truck traffic east and west through Alberta and do endless safety inspections in 72 languages. Just to give the Canadian Drones a taste of what is coming.
I can imagine doing a safety inspection on every piece of fish shipped out of BC. :). After all BC seafood swims in BC sewage. 🙁
hay watcher, it’s sicks (Sikhs) who drive those trucks, so just keep them permenantly
Anyone who seriously wishes to pursue this first need to figure out how federal Canadian pensions will be paid to Albertans receiving them.
And you would have to have a political class in Alberta that was serious enough to see that these studies get done in a serious manner.
When they agree to pay the pensions and what ever else they owe you allow the roads and rail lines to open again.
It would be part of a negotiated settlement. CPP is actually quite easy, before separation Alberta would gain control of their share in the same manner as Quebec’s QPP.
As for federal worker pensions, I think the Canadian government has no problem paying federal pensions to people who change citizenship, move to other countries or have dual citizenship.
The bigger problem would be – how would Canada convince Alberta to pay any portion of the federal debt? I assume Alberta would argue that the 200 billion or so in equalization payments redistrubuted from Alberta taxpayers to Ottawa over the decades should suffice.
Yes but someone has to start convincing the populace of this. It can’t be assumed at the population of Alberta would naturally go along with it, regardless of how one-sided relationship of Alberta in confederation
We need a dynamic combo of people to make the case. A charming orator, a no nonsense numbers guy, a PR guy and a brawler to battle the inevitable canadian media slander and canadian political smears (*). A combo that appeals to the heart, the head, human psychology, the visceral guts. Drag up all the shit treatment at the hands of Ottawa and also promote a positive vision of a new, fresh, independent nation that is no longer hobbled by regional bigotry, petty jealousy and the insatiable greed of the ROC.
*and backups for each to account for casualties from historical offense mining that digs up accusations of #me too incidents, racism, Nazism, etc.
I’m interested to see how Ottawa and the ROC would counter such a combo that led an Alberta ( and sask?) separatist movement. Imagine attempting to explain the benefits of a confederation that treats them like second class citizens and a piggy bank.
It would be funny to see the post-nationalist and “patriotism is white supremacy ” Liberals try to promote Canadian solidarity through an appeal to the nostalgia of the nation state. Maybe ask their former leader Mr. “If I had a nationality then I suppose I’d be Canadian ” Ignatieff for a few tips. Perhaps Canadian nationalists could talk about the benefits of being forced to buy bland, overpriced cheese from Quebec. Or maybe they could say its better for Alberta to pay huge $ in equalization because otherwise they’d blow it beer and popcorn. Anyway, I’m sure Canada’s gender focussed, identitarian, intersectional team will be a force to be reckoned with in this regard.
Which reminds me that having someone with a sense of humour should be added to the combo. Appealing to the funny bone is as important as appealing to the brain, heart, guts, emotional impulses (PR) and phyche.
There is not a snowball’s chance in hell that Alberta will separate.
Yes we have problems with our place in confederation but what we need is less Canada in our lives.
Too many transplanted easterners here to ever pull off separation.
abtrapper : Considering Hell actually froze over last week I’m inclined to think the snowball you speak of has a pretty good odds. 😉
https://www.newsweek.com/hell-frozen-michigan-polar-vortex-extreme-weather-cold-ice-snow-1313082
Actually, quite a few unthinkable things have occurred lately – Brexit and Trump to name two. No one knows what will happen in the future yet so many people are so very confident about their predictions. Personally, I’d be careful about saying X will never happen these days.
Also, in Quebec-speak, a referendum loss is really just a first try/tactic to be followed by more votes until you win…one way or another.
I wonder if the CPP etc pension liability for Albertans is less than Alberta’s share of the national debt?
The same way they’re currently paid to non-residents who earned said pensions here. There are a fair few non-residents collecting OAS and CPP (may even, if I remember correctly, also qualify for GIS). The same thing can happen in reverse. Many treaties between Canada and various other countries detailing just how said pensions are to be taxed.
Gee, that Nenshit looks really healthy. Probably need something bigger than an F350 to move his coffin after the heart attack drops him.
Soon he will be as large as Sarah Hoffman!
Lots of those F-150’s driving the Calgary downtown core everyday.
Agendas a always blind.
F-350’s
Stop sending every dollar we make to Ottawa, for starters. Set up provincial police and get rid of RCMP. Set up provincial revenue agency and tell CRA to F#&$K OFF. Start provincial retirement fund and get get ALL of OUR CPP money back from Ottawa. If it is not returned PRONTO, they might have a tough time getting a return call from the Alberta Revenue Agency. They might get invited to go pound some sand.
Two points.
1) As a individual, Neshi seems like an arrogant asshole. There was no reason to use a caveman reference at all, except to insult blue collar workers. Much the same as Trudeau insinuating oil and pipeline workers are a threat to women in rural communities. I think liberals self identifying as snobs is a good thing and being “offended” is a ploy of emotional drama queens *but* we all know that anyone saying something even a fraction less insulting to any other identifiable group would have the entire chattering class screaming for blood. I want the same rules for everyone. I prefer free speech, a thick skin and tolerance but that can’t just apply to non-liberals so liberals should be required to live by their own rules.
2) it is shocking how much Liberals and NDP, as a group, hate blue collar workers and rural people. This would have been unthinkable to their founders and supporters for most of their existence. To openly cheer for the destruction of entire blue collar industries and the livelihoods of around 100,000 working families is truly a twisted perversion of classic liberal and social democratic values. They’ve become the parties of the bourgeoisie, moneyed urbanites and pampered upper class kids born with a trust fund and a silver spoon in their mouth. The Liberal and NDP seem disgusted by guys (and women) who do physical labour. The looking down the nose “not our kind, dear” attitude towards the working class, rural folks and low status (degreeless) jobs is odd given their political roots.
He literally thinks he’s better than everyone, bar none, and is always the smartest person in the room. We should all be worshipfully awe-filled of his worship. Anything or anyone that challenges that becomes the recipient of the firepower of his fully-armed and operational battle station.
As to your second point…well, they wouldn’t want to get any of that actual work thing on them. Gross.
I get that some people are grossed out by dirt and grime. I mentioned that I was a coal handler for a brief period in my younger years, well, they were one of the few crews that were given their own kitchen and supplies. I was told that management and office staff didn’t want coal dust in the canteen. This revulsion must go back to the primitive parts of the human brain so it’s suprising that our uber evolved, sophisticated moral and intellectual superiors are so afflicted by this primordial or perhaps even “caveman” impulse.
LC, jackup yer meds. I had a customer in Edmonchuck in the 80T’s, and brains was not a strong point out there. I was in Calgary about a year ago, it made Terana look white. Yer just dreamin if’n you think you can CONvince the multi-cults of calagary and edmonchuch to vote to get out of Canada.
I disagree. Immigrants brave enough to leave their home country and resettle on the Canadian prairies are brave souls in deed and so are their children I’d bet. I’m also not on board with this idea that all Koreans vote this way or all blacks vote that way. People are individuals and should be treated as such. The same argument that convinces as 5th generation Alberta rancher will convince an energy worker, a small business owner or a provincial government worker. It’s about having a convincing argument explaining the unfairness that Alberta endures in Canada or how a new country could be better, fairer, richer, have more personal and economic freedom, etc.
To limp-wristed, socialist beta-mayors, everyone else is a caveman.
“are not just a bunch of F350 driving cavemen”
We don’t all drive an F350. I drive an F150. Nenshi is such an asshole. Remind me why Cowtown keeps electing him.
He cheats.
I guess he didn’t have people like me in mind. I inherited my father’s Dodge TurboRam 2500 and drive it whenever I’m at the house while I’m settling the estate.
Tell me, did he ever walk to work, or ride a bike? Mount Royal College, or City Hall?
PO’ed, did he ever work???
“The peasants are revolting”.
So begins/ends another cycle.
Of parasites.

I dont know why some of my submissions post twice?
I get a message ‘ captcha failed’ and then hit Post Comment and voila double post.
It doesnt happen every time.
I dunno?
When I get a captcha failed message I reopen the SDA segment I am commenting on and almost always find my comment posted successfully. Just my experience.
Joe: thanks I’ll give it a go.
On the upside, the Nenshis and Notleys of this world do serve to provide a tonic lesson about reality:
Albertans are no more politically astute than any other Canadians.
To me, Nenshi is walking, talking proof that Alberta Conservatives have already waited too long to try and separate. Even when I left the province about 15 yrs ago, Edmonton was becoming a left-centric city, and Calgarians have supported the ignorant bigot Nenshi for…. what?… about a decade by now?
We should have left when we had some steam about 25 yrs or so ago, but no, Manning and Harper told us pretty lies about gaining some power and equality for the west, and we followed their dead-end instead. ‘The West Wants In!’ In hindsight, what a god-awful campaign slogan. ‘Please sirs, can we please have some real power out here in the West? Huh? Can we, please please, please? We promise to keep giving you billions and billions and billions of our dollars. So, pretty please?’…. is what that slogan says to me now.
Conservatism is slowly being extinguished in Alberta, JUST LIKE everywhere else.
“We believe in the environment”
What exactly does that mean? We believe in mountains? We believe there are winds although we cannot catch them? We believe in oceans?
When someone says that, as so often they do, you know they are vacuous turds looking for easy votes from the young.
“We believe in the cookie monster”
Well, he also believes in a moon god and a pedophile prophet (bees pee upon him).
I’m not saying most people who drive F350’s are dicks… but most people who are dicks drive F350’s.
so andy, you down sized to a 250, cuz yer just a little peepee
… he’s driving a Mini.
Wrong. When I’m not riding my fixed gear recumbant bike, I drive an electric scooter charged exclusively by my rooftop solar panels.
Inotherwords … an insufferable granola eating douche’ … with a very limited range
“…recumbant bike…”
That’s like a normal bike minus the seat, right?
https://i.redd.it/j3b316e5vchy.gif
I agree with Nenshi. Not all Albertans are f350 driving cavemen. I sold my f350 and became a Tundra driving caveman several years ago.
Grog like Toyotas! (But no like taxes)
As I said it above. I dont see any chance of Alberta separating.
We’ve changed a lot in the past 40 years. The real conservatives are the ranch community. The oil patch has conservatives and some farmers.
All these groups are in decline politically. Edmonton has been liberal for the last 50 years. Calgary is following suit.
Years ago on this site I suggested AB was as progressive as any place in the country and I was flamed for it. Were not going anywhere in terms of separation.
Alberta needs less Canada.
Yep….heck, I even know of some big libs that work here in the patch.
Some people just gotta pee on the fence.
You sound very defeatist. Not everyone in Alberta and Saskatchewan is as negative or easily discouraged. Brexit wasn’t supposed to happen. Clinton wasn’t supposed to be defeated. No one saw the yellow vests coming. That’s just in the last few years. I don’t think Alberta succession is impossible, it’s got a very good chance of happening. Especially if Trudeau gets another term and he and the ROC continue to hammer Alberta industries and families into the ground while still asking for billions in equalization. Something will give.
I am not afraid of separation or defeated. I think without total collapse of this thing called Canada – it’s a pipe dream.
I was around for T1. Another round of bongo will certainly push the issue.
Canada is a very rich country. Unequalled in the world…perhaps. Why is it that we never achieved greatness? How is it that the USA did while we languished on the sidelines?
Maybe its yet to come but I dont see it and a more likely outcome might be the dissolution of the place.
Because Canada was governed by liberals for 3/4 of its history. Not only are they crooked,
they are evil.
Edmonton has been liberal for the last 50 years.
Edmonton was a blue collar town for much of the last 60 years. True, it went whole hog for PET, but many of those MPs were turfed in the next federal election.
One reason Edmonton went lefty was thanks to the PCs, particularly after Getty took office. Edmonton used to have a lot of oil company regional offices, but many of them were closed and the staff transferred to Calgary. One of my undergrad classmates started working in Edmonton and eventually ended up in Cowtown, after, I recall, a detour to Newfoundland.
The PCs pretty much divided up the province that way. Edmonton got the government offices and Calgary the oil companies.
On the other hand, Edmonton has a habit of electing real winners for mayor. It seems the last one worth anything was Bill Hawrelak and he died in office.
The MPs aren’t much to get excited about, either. My riding had some lulus representing us as well. We had Rahim Jaffir, who figured the way to solve any economic downturn was to open another coffee bar. He didn’t do much while in office except get zonked on booze and cocaine as well as canoodle with one of his fellow MPs. The current one, Linda Duncan, doesn’t do much, either, except send out periodic newsletters and my copy goes straight into the recycling bin.
I’m thinking of moving once I’m done settling my father’s estate, though I don’t know where I should go.
How badly this country has fallen. Here is member of religious cult known for, among others, their passion for romantic goat love in that special cave, calling others cavemen.
The idea that someone like him dares to proclaim his superiority over anyone else is deeply disturbing and a clear sign of a collapsing civilization.
The Alberta Independence Party on Americanuck Radio recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whCz0Tp07jE
Every kid that goes to public schools in Alberta gets the same message as that flippantly proclaimed by Nenshi. Most every public employee, school teacher, medical practitioner, university staffer, media member, service sector employee, mainstream church clergy and their dwindling congregations, along with Muslims, support him. He knows he’ll take some heat from the resource sector workers and their suppliers and contractors and old people like us but, hey this is Canada where green theocracy (and his seventh century version) is ascendant. That ascendancy will only change when the great bankrupt welfare state finally goes broke or Atlas Shrugs.
