Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Oh, and it’s (-)28 with the wind chill in Saskatoon? OMG! Doesn’t that make your face hurt … just to walk outside?
Yes. But skin won’t freeze for minutes. You can still do a smoke break without your parka.
-40 is where it gets dangerous. Exposed skin can be frost bit in seconds with a wind. I always laugh when I see Hollywood arctic sets with shaving foam as snow, and the actors walking around with their faces out in the wind.
When movie scripts are written by guys who have never left the beach.
I was disappointed in Krause. Her solution is FN appeasement (payoffs) combined with green signalling… “Take the money from increased fossil fuel production to fund new climate technologies”.
As though pleasing our enemies will turn them into friends.
After all these years of digging through their financial records, she has learned absolutely nothing about them.
Canada is a mess and there is no solution at the Federal level. The only way change real change can happen is at the Provincial level. You have to read history to understand what happened in the Former United Colonies of Canada. Or the Canada’s as it used to be called.
You have to go back and read the transcripts of Imperial Conferences prior to 1930 and The Statute of Westminister 1932. With the signing of the Statute of Westminister 1932 by the Sovereign of the day, the former colonies of South Africa, The Irish Free State, Australia, New Zealand and Canada were all cut free of the British Crown. What was supposed to happen was the former Colonies, in Canada’s case represented by Ottawa, were to return to the people of the country and Federate. That never happened. Each Province has a Prime Minister/Premier, and a Lieut. Gov. Premier is French for Prime.
The Provincial Premier’s/Prime Ministers were to find a way forward and move from a Confederation to a Federal State if that was what the people of each Province wanted. That never happened. The people were never consulted. The process started but was shut down. Also the Depression was hitting very hard.
So Canada carried on in a fake Democracy, fake Country mode. The BNA Act governed Canada from 1867 until today. When Trudeau made his Fake Repatriated Constitution all he did was add his Communist agenda on top of the BNA ACT, and consulted no one. No legal age man or woman in Canada was consulted or allowed to vote yay or nay. The BNA Act so that you understand well, never was and could never be Canada’s Constitution, because all it was, was instructions from Her Majesty’s Government to Her appointed Gov. Gen. on how to manage a Colony.
Trudeau tried to force London Parliament to hand over the BNA Act and they refused as (a) England is a Foreign Power. and (B) the BNA Act is a legal document of a Foreign Country. It is not a Canadian Document although Canadians have been ruled by it since 1867 even to this day.
Canada’s mess started with the British and the way they set up the United Colonies of Canada to begin with. The BNA was only meant to manage the original 4 Colonies. These 4 were given special privileges at the time.
The people of Canada in the Provinces will never achieve Freedom or Liberty or Democracy by voting for any Federal Party. Because the Deck is well stacked and the players well versed in the Con Game. There is a way forward tho, but it will take courage and the right leader with the steel backbone to take the people of the Province down the path to Liberty and Freedom.
The Provinces today are ruled as a Colony of Ottawa. In many, many ways. By regulation, by taxation, by Liberal Courts. You can not beat them in their own game. You have to stop playing their game and stand up and say NO MORE.
To do this a Leader will have to be found in Alberta who will play hard ball. He will have to rally the people to the cause of Liberty and Freedom. And when these chess pieces are in place he will ask the People for their authority in a binding referendum to tell Ottawa No to Carbon Tax, No to Forced Bilingualism, No Gun Control, No to Equalization, No to Ottawa collecting any tax inside the Province. No to what ever the people do not want.
He will have to play outside the box. In section 45 of the BNA Act it states every Province has the Right at any time to create their own Constitution. Ask yourself why this has never happened.
Only by the People of the Provinces acting legally within the Province can this happen. Voting for a Federal Party hoping to get justice is like facing into the wind in Lethbridge and pissing all over yourself.
The Leader has to earn the trust of the people and then seek a Unilateral Declaration of Independence or a UDI. Fully recognized globally, hell that is how the USA was born. With this UDI Hammer in his hand only then will Ottawa listen and do as the People of each Province say. With the UDI hammer it matters not what the Supreme Court says, it matters not what Quebec wants it only matters what the People of that Province want to accept or not accept. In Liberty and Freedom. I was tasked at one time with writing Constitutional Proposals for the Wild Rose Party. I took it very serious. It is complicated but simple if you have the right people. Leading up to Alberta’s Centenary in 2005. I wrote several letters to then Premier Klein asking him as an Albertan to please consider giving Albertans their own Constitution.
Under sect 45 of the BNA. I met him personally 2-3 times at Party functions and appealed personally. I asked him after 100 years of faithful service by the people of the Province of Alberta, is it not time to do the right thing.
Anyway I wrote some what I thought were good proposals for Wildrose, and it was arranged that I would meet Danielle Smith personally and pitch my case for 10 minutes.
She is a very likeable Lady. Very Intelligent and Libertarian like myself, somewhat. Although I came from the school of hard knocks. Instead of 10 minutes the meeting ran over an hour she liked my ideas very much. Her lawyers and inside advisers not so much. In the end she did not have the Juice. What the proposals were another day.
Watcher as a person who studied History at University , I never considered UDI!
It in my mind was for separate land masses from the original country! I feel you are on to something here. As Dr. Hayden use to say,” Future History is rewritten by those who study the past.”
No, Canada was and still is a Confederation. Each Province has a 1st Minister, The Premier and a Lt. Gov. as Head of State. Each Province has lower courts and a Supreme Court. Each Province has a Parliament, or Legislature, Democratically elected by the People. The land inside the borders, the legal borders of each Province belongs to the People of each Province. This is all settled law.
The 1st Minister of a Province obtains his power through the BNA Act. It is the same power as the 1st Minister of Canada in Ottawa only it is used under a different section of the BNA Act. Sections 91 and 92 spell this out. The Provincial and Federal Jurisdictions are laid out in the BNA Act. Since the signing into Law of the Statute of Westminister 1932 the Prime Minister has steadily assumed all the former Power of the Sovereign. He now acts and thinks he is Sovereign over the People of the Provinces. And his actions are of a Sovereign. Only the People are Sovereign. Every blade of grass, every handful of dirt inside each Province belongs exclusively to the People inside each Province. By what right? Well the BNA ACT clearly says so and by a much older right. The Right of Eminent Domain. We Possess The Land. All you have to do is fight for it, and wrest it back were it belongs. UDI does this in a lightning flash. A Hammer Blow. And it is very, very legal. The Elite do not like this, I assure you the British Sovereign was not happy about the UDI by the Former Provinces in NE US who became the 13 Colonies. They were also Provinces at the time. Yes the original 13 Colonies once were Provinces.
I assure you that if the 3.7M People of the Province of Alberta Democratically speak and give their 1st Minister the Power and authority to Declare UDI. Nothing Ottawa says, nothing the Supreme Court says, is of consequence.
This same thing has happened enough in history that it is even written into the UN under Human Rights and International Law.
Now go find that man or that woman with the Steel Backbone who will take the game to the next level. And create the Republic of Alberta. Hopefully those people will choose the Swiss model of a Federation. Were the Politicians are nobody’s and the People make all the important decisions. In Liberty and Freedom. Watcher
So true. While she has done great work exposing the hysteria industry money, she seems to rely on “corporate PR department” solutions rather than grass roots confrontation which, in my many years of battling greens, has been the most effective. The battle is for hearts and minds in sufficient numbers to raise the awareness of politicians. I suspect that she thinks the media will help.
Watcher, Thank You for you posts and your knowledge.
Perhaps you are the One to lead us from this socialist two-bit nation.
No I am much too old and tired. This requires youth and vigor. It is a long and a hard road, I have been trying to educate Albertans since the 1990’s but no one wants to listen when they have pockets full of cash. No one wants to think of the future of their own children and grandchildren.
One of the proposals I made to Danielle Smith that day was that Alberta make Edmonton into a Tax Free Area and Special Trading zone for the big Banks. Become a Swiss Model Banking Zone.
And in doing that I suggested that a percentage of all oil Royalties would be paid to Alberta in physical gold. To be stored in a special vault in Edmonton. The day that the oil ran out the gold would still be there in the basement vault in Edmonton. And physical gold could not be squandered by the greasy politicians.
But would make a fabulous anchor for the wealth of Alberta and the new banking zone. Norway’s Heritage Fund now has around 1 Trillion US, they started that fund later than Alberta. Norway has 1 T, Alberta has debt. Think about that, now go make that UDI Hammer and wield it judiciously.
Interesting you are writing these ideas from the East!!? Or Manitoba
I am an Alberta snowbird.
Vivian Krause has done good work, but she explains it poorly. Five years ago, I heard her speak at the Petroleum Club and asked her: “I am on your side, but if you aren’t saying this is a conspiracy led by the U.S. energy industry, why does it matter that U.S. foundations are funding opposition to Canada’s energy industry? Are they not allowed to disagree with us? ”
She replied that charities are not supposed to do political advocacy, on pain of losing their charitable status. I suggested that she include that thought prominently in future presentations: Canadians should lobby to remove the charitable status of charities that use donations to do political lobbying.
Last week, she appeared on the local Calgary CBC radio show but made no mention of that key issue. When the clearly skeptical CBC host, Judy Aldous, heard Krause assert that Premier Notley had done everything the anti-pipeline activists demanded of her, Aldous asked Krause if she was accusing Notley of being in the pay of those activists. Krause said she wasn’t, but should have pointed out that Notley’s alignment with everything the activists demand proves that Notley’s recent, belated support for the industry is politically driven and phony, not heartfelt. But Krause missed the opportunity to make that point.
Host Aldous noted that Trudeau has already bought a pipeline and that major producers had appeared at Notley’s photo op announcing carbon policy in 2015. Wasn’t this, asked Aldous, evidence of Liberal goodwill and industry buy-in of Notley’s approach?
Krause should have replied that all of the CEOs (from Shell, Cenovus, Canadian Natural) at the photo op made deals many now regret that suited their companies at the time and that neither Imperial nor any small producers attended or bought in to the plan. She should have pointed out that everything Trudeau did before buying TransMountain had been anti-pipeline: the tanker ban that applies only to Alberta oil sparking the rejection of Northern Gateway, his public undermining of the NEB, the politicization of the approval process by taking it into cabinet, the downstream emissions rule change that killed Energy East but doesn’t apply to car, plane or snowmobile makers.
Krause didn’t say any of that, which just looks weak. Then the host got climate activist and aspiring politician Chris Turner came on and made Krause look paranoid, because she had poor answers for the host’s skepticism about her research. She does good work but needs to sharpen up her pitch, to make it effective.
