There’s a scientific hypothesis gaining traction that parent/parenting doesn’t really have a significant impact on a child’s future. I’ve read it but I’m not convinced. Parents guide their children, helping them avoid traps and pitfalls like aggressive, predatory social media. Parents can teach and role model resiliency. They can help them find humour and perspective in difficult circumstances. When to go home, how to say no (diplomatically or bluntly). Explain how moderationis key to a happy life. There are many things parents can influence.
The answer is not to hide your children away from the modern world. It’s better to show them the world -the good, the bad and the ugly- and then honestly discuss how to navigate your way around.
Examples: 1) this is how social media negatively affect teen girls, so this is what you need to know. 2) this is how woke progressives negatively affect boys and men so this is what you need to know. Drugs, alcohol, sex, education, work, peer pressure etc.
