The United States and Israel officially quit the U.N.’s educational, scientific and cultural agency at the stroke of midnight, the culmination of a process triggered more than a year ago amid concerns that the organization fosters anti-Israel bias.
The withdrawal is mainly procedural yet serves a new blow to UNESCO, co-founded by the U.S. after World War II to foster peace.
The Trump administration filed its notice to withdraw in October 2017 and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu followed suit.
The Paris-based organization has been denounced by its critics as a crucible for anti-Israel bias: blasted for criticizing Israel’s occupation of east Jerusalem, naming ancient Jewish sites as Palestinian heritage sites and granting full membership to Palestine in 2011.
Israeli U.N. envoy Danny Danon said Tuesday that his country “will not be a member of an organization whose goal is to deliberately act against us, and that has become a tool manipulated by Israel’s enemies.”

I always wanted to be a U.N. diplomat, so here’s my draft speech: “Give me a lot of money, I hate Israel, we need to ride bikes to make the weather colder, save the planet, and did I mention a lot of money? Everyone hold hands, except if you’re Jewish.”
The UN is a gigantic farce starting with it’s name. We know for certain our present administration bows and ass kisses the thing they consider a sacred body.

As a young fellow in the Sixties, my parents once bought me a subscription to the UNESCO monthly magazine for Christmas.
It was a wonderful publication too. What another world that seems now.
They also published a great book on scientific experiments elementary school age children could do at home, many on equipment and apparatus that could be made with things found around any house.
There was only one reason for the United Nations to continue to exist after VE Day: ensuring that to the victors went the spoils—arranging the deportation of the German people to Siberia and the division of German territory and industry among the allies, after setting aside generous compensation for Jews dispossessed during the war.

The Russians raped Germany. The Americans, as the dominant power among the western allies, put Germany back on its feet; their was no looting by the Americans, and they insured that Germany would be treated decently if they behaved in a civilized way. I don’t know about the French and British sectors.

If Israel and the US REALLY wanted to leave a mark, they would have withdrawn from the UN and then stood back as the house of cards fell.
That is probably best done after the EU is no more, but it must be done ,and soon.
