The family, authorities and physicians making any permanent, irreversible, life-changing decisions for a child need to make sure it’s truly in the best interest of the child. As in, first do no harm. One of my kids was recently doing a report on eating disorders, including anorexia which is another type of body dysphoria. Can you imagine if the same self-id, affirmation rules applied to anorexics?
Doctor sees a bag of bones walk into the office. Doctor readies advice about diet and psychological treatment. Anorexic says that she may weigh 75lbs but in her mind she’s an obese 300lb woman. She claims that insinuating she may have psychological issues will erase her very existence and cause suicidal anxiety. The doctor changes advice out of social conditioning or fear of a human rights ordeal. The doctor recommends liposuction and gastric bypass for the skeletal woman
Now imagine the patient is not an adult woman with anorexia but an 8yo child who is an autistic tomboy or feminine male.

Doctor is funded by the state, and follows the state edicts. Otherwise known as “standard of care guidelines.” In Canada, that’s what happens. In the USA the “guidelines” are set by the patient’s insurer and the doctor’s malpractice insurer. Still set by the state, incidentally, just by a more convoluted route.
It doesn’t matter what the -actual- medical situation is, what matters is following the guidelines. So if the books says “gastric bypass for anorexia” that is what the patient will get. Because otherwise the doctor is looking at loss of license and possible jail.
This is why it is good to have a doctor somewhere in the immediate family. Only blood ties are strong enough to get the doctor to risk his/her livelihood and freedom to tell the truth when it differs from the guidelines.
This is why suing doctors for fun and profit is a very bad idea, and why voting for socialized medicine is something only liberals are stupid enough to do.
True. Fear is an excellent motivator. Fear of government policy, fear of social isolation and diminished social status, fear of activists, fear of poverty etc. It is human nature to take the path of least resistance and it is easy to rationalize being compliant, even when you know it is wrong.
But, I think there will be lawsuits associated with transitioning children. A surprising number of adults who have transitioned regret it. Prior to the affirm, affirm, affirm policy the majority of children accepted their birth sex and/or came out as gay or lesbian. The research confirming this is all there and it will be used to sue anyone and everyone associated with transitioning children. After the inevitable taxpayer-funded legal payout, there will be a political commission, an apology tour and a monument to recognize the tragedy of medical malpractice (the political and academic chattering class will be protected from blame, of course).
I’ve said before that in twenty years we’ll look back on this as the Satanic Ritual Abuse hoax of our time.

It’s clear from this article that James tries to please his mom while with her, and given the choice to be as he actually is with his dad, he is what he is without having to reach. This doesn’t make James a girl, any more than it makes me an Australian Shepherd.
So, what will the court decide? It’d take a weekend with mom, and a weekend with dad for a judge that wasn’t constrained by what’s “taken hold” in our society, to figure it out that life with mom appears to be a construct, and life with dad is “normal”.
If this had occurred at any point in the past, say in 1998 when my twins were the same age as James and his twin, it’d be the result most folks ’round here would expect. The kids would only see mom while being supervised by a normal human, while dad would continue to do what we did, which most days included Fish Creek Park or Elbow Falls. And life as normal 6 years old kids.
I’m not optimistic for James. Or society.
So if the kid stays with mom, what are the chances of eventual suicide? Something like 40%? Where there is a gender dispute between parents, it makes too much sense to go with mother nature’s choice. 18 years comes too soon and the little bugger can have a rat chew off his nuts if he wants.
Trans inmates of the type I see in the correctional institution where I work experience a suicide ideation rate of 77%. I cannot see it being much different within mainstream society. Now granted, there is also very often a whole host of other mental illnesses rolled up in there, however, it just goes to show where their head is at when an person believes they can just ignore basic biology and make two-plus-two equal five or believing they can jam a square peg in a round hole (as it were LOL)

I’m a correctional officer working in a provincial facility in Canada. When it comes to inmate placement when they are first admitted, we are now required to house them by what gender they present themselves as during the admission process. So if we’re talking about a male that “identifies” as “female”, they do get housed with female inmates if they claim to be “in transition”, which is so open to interpretation it is ridiculous.
A peer of mine that works as an admitting and discharge officer at a facility where this type of admission had taken place had the biggest “I told you so” moment of his career when two female inmates housed in a unit with a “transwoman” became pregnant. He, however, was not permitted the glory of that “I told you so” moment, as workplace discrimination policies prevent that upon pain of discipline. Is this reported in the news? Of course not. But it begs the question – how could that “transwoman” not be a man if he/she is able to father children? Only the leftards in government that create such insane policies can possibly ignore something as immutable as biology. It is madness….utter, and total madness.
This willfull blindness to the obvious has another, more insidious effect. If our moral and intellectual superiors are this brainwashed, incompetent and/or stupid about something as simple as sex differences then why should we trust them on any issue, especially more complicated ones?
The chattering class likes to cut off debate by insisting that your average Joe wouldn’t question the advice of a doctor or try to pilot a plane…so us Joes and Janes shouldn’t question other experts either. But if your doctor recommends slaughtering a chicken under the new moon to cure disease and your pilot is a raving lunatic screaming “we’re all gonna die” for no apparent reason then you’d be crazy to unquestioningly accept their expertise. Likewise, if politicians can’t figure out sex differences and scientists are screaming “the end is nigh” then sane people should not blindly accept their “expertise” in any matters.
