Has this essay by Angelo Codevilla been posted? It’s the clearest, best explanation I’ve seen of politics recently in America, and makes some very uncomfortable predictions. I wish there was a Canadian writer of similar clarity and depth, but oh well.
A small number of the so-called progressive movement understand, and sincerely believe in, the movement’s underlying political goals. Most regard the repetition of the current talking points as a matter of fashion … a display of intellectual good taste.
A large majority of the so-called conservative movement, on the other hand, fully understand, and sincerely believe in, the social and political principles outlined in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
A full-scale physical confrontation would be short and sweet.
