11. I can tell you as a 23 year old young man I am ABSOLUTELY following in the footsteps of Pence, if I’m not familiar with a woman and know that she can be trusted, I will only speak or be around her in very public settings end of discussion, to do otherwise is just to damn dangerous

    2. Everything old is new again. 100 years ago, no courting couple were ever allowed to be alone together, usually the girl’s Mother sat there while they chatted, and holding hands was the extent of physical activity between them.

       1. I’ve had similar thoughts as don morris. Chaperones (duennas in Spanish) were pretty much the norm when “courting” for a long time. It was to protect the lady’s reputation and chastity. Courtship then was a lot more talk and body language as a consequence.

          But that was before birth control and the sexual “revolution” which unleashed the hidden passions of women and which proved to be not much different from those of men. So it goes.

          I guess the concept still exists in hardcore Islam though even that seems to be “progressing”.

13. The Pence couple have their opinions about the effects of substance abuse on people, and the possibility of lawsuits, when someone is impaired. They have a heightened sense of awareness in this regard because they respect the position of serving the public. Good for them.

14. If anybody can remember that far back, when Pence assumed the VP, he let everybody know that to never be alone in a room with a woman other than his wife is his policy.
