Aren’t there too many whites everywhere? Isn’t one white, especially a male, one too many? Isn’t that why there are a lot of TV ads with white women coupled with darker skinned men these days?

Couldn’t the people of Burnaby simply request a more diverse firefighting force while they’re phoning 911 in a frantic moment at 3am … ? The frantic caller can then be informed as to whether the firemen / firepersons will arrive in 3 or in 23 minutes. No worries.

I think the RCMP is moving in this direction as well. I guess they’ll be calling 18 female RCMP officers to quell a bar fight in Southey Saskatchewan instead of the 4 large officers they did back in the day…

Your mention of bar fights and Sikh RCMP officers reminds me of an interview I heard on CBC quite some years ago now. Some breathless young CBC woman was talking with one of the first Sikh RCMP constables to wear his turban on duty. In that usual, whiney CBC tone, she asked him how he might feel about going into a bar on a Friday night while on patrol and getting insulted about his turban.
Without missing a beat, he replied something like (I’m quoting from memory):
“If I cared about what a bunch of drunks in a bar on a Friday night thought about me, I’d never have become an RCMP officer.”
