  1. If you multiply 50 dollars by how many many tons of carbon dioxide Canada produces, wouldn’t that be the cost of the carbon tax. Not sure how it would be divided, per person or per business or another way.

    1. The situation is complicated as some provinces give “rebates” to some citizens.

      I never understood politicians who tax carbon emissions, but then give rebates so we can still pay for gasoline or natural gas. Comrade pay the 100 tax cause this will drive you to use less hydrocarbon. But wait comrade, now we give you a rebate so you can still pay for gasoline or natural gas.

      Of course rebates are not available for “high” income comrades.

      Global warming is a wealth redistribution scheme. Notice “progressives” have changed the name from global warming to climate change.

In a land of minus 40, no-one is going to use less home heating or electrical because the price doubles and no-one is going to quit delivering goods and visiting family because the price doubles. It is a tax that will not tax itself out of business. Perfect. It is a tax that will completely fail to accomplish its purpose but raise a large amount of cash, great for perfecting corruption and buying votes.

    3. I’m old here: 69 years old. I remember way back when, during the early 1980s, during the Pierre Trudeau era, that there was talk about bringing in Afrikaners in as immigrants. Father Pierre threw cold water on that. Back then, the corporate media were almost universally Liberal, and agreed with the Liberal government.

  5. In response to the post re the tragic death of the Ontario lady riding on a tractor with her husband, I googled just this:
    “crash on hwy 16 near Saskatoon” and these are some of the crashes that came up. Stay off Hwy 16 I would say regardless of whether or not you’re on a tractor with a huge holstein cow that would attract anyone’s attention. Too many people blaming the couple.

    There are two groups of people trying to settle in Canada. The first group applies legally by filling out paperwork and waiting. In the meantime they are responsible to make their own way. The asylum seekers are allowed in immediately, given food and shelter, and are resettled waiting for their claims to be processed – jumping the queue ahead of those who legally applied to enter.

    While almost 100,000 people immigrate to the Toronto area each year, these people are responsible for themselves and their families. The 3,300 asylum seekers brought to Toronto are competing with the homeless for spaces to live. Many of the homeless have mental health issues and have no other options than to rely on the government for help. It is estimated that as many as 42,000 people in Toronto need direct help from the government but aren’t receiving it due to funding levels. Why bring in another 3,300?
