  1. Horgan is so busy worrying about a potential oils spill that he’s forgetting about his favorite energy sector. Coal mines are poisoning BC rivers with Selenium. Those watersheds cross into the US and the Americans aren’t very happy about it.

The report documents increasing selenium in Canadian water flowing into the transboundary Koocanusa reservoir.
All five waterways in the report have selenium levels at the maximum or above B.C.’s drinking water guidelines. Two are four times higher.
The study says the level of selenium in the Elk and Fording rivers is 70 times that in the Flathead River, which doesn’t get runoff from five coal mines operated by Teck Resources.
“Nobody’s happy that there’s selenium in excess of water quality guidelines,” said Douglas Hill of B.C.’s Environment Department. “But we’re reasonably satisfied that Teck’s making best efforts to address the problem.”

I wonder why B.C.’s Environment Department doesn’t think Kinder Morgans Trans Mountain or Enbridges Northern Gateway were properly addressing any problem they foresee MAY occur if there were a bitumen spill.

    1. It’s necessary for Ontario to shut down its coal-burning electricity plants but it’s OK for B.C. to mine coal and to ship American coal to China. And Ontario was on-track to pay California $400 million for carbon credits before the Ford upset win. The world has gone madd.

      1. Steelmaking coal, not thermal coal. Some thermal coal goes as well, but coking coal is needed to make raw iron or steel. Even more than the age of electronics, we live in the age of steel. Our machines to make machines, our buildings, our transport… all are dependent upon copious supplies of inexpensive steel (that meets specifications for the jobs, otherwise it’s almost useless).

If you take iron ore (otherwise known as rust) and put it in an electric arc furnace you get hot rust. If you take iron ore and coke and put them in a blast furnace, you get iron or steel. I tried to explain the difference to Allan a short time ago, but he wandered off on a “recycling is good!” tangent.

  2. The groper gate is starting to have the following effects.
It makes Chretien look more honest.
It makes Paul Martin look more succinct in his responses to Adscam.
It makes Joe Clark look more competent.
It makes John Turner look more the gentleman.
And finally it proves PMSH was right about just about everything.

      1. Could it be that Trudeau is simply a hypocrite. The reason he can’t simply apologize as suggested in the Chatelaine article is because, if he did, he would have to fire his ass ass out of the pmship and caucus.

  3. Shell ramps up in Kitimat, Raising Canada’s $30 Billion LNG Hopes

A flurry of activity in a remote Canadian town is raising optimism that Royal Dutch Shell Plc and its partners are ready to go ahead with the nation’s largest infrastructure project: a C$40 billion ($30 billion) liquefied natural gas terminal that could at last unlock energy exports to Asia.

“Tucker Carlson: If Democratic Socialism Works, Why Doesn’t Venezuela Have Toilet Paper?

Tucker Carlson devoted a segment of his show last night to discussing Democratic Socialism with Professor Cornel West. After outlining some of the policy prescriptions advocated by Democratic Socialists—”state ownership of major industries,” reparations for black Americans, abolishing ICE, etc—Carlson asked Cornel West for an example of where such a program has worked.

“Can you point to an example, an extant example, of it that works? Venezuela seems like an example of Democratic Socialism. Would you say that it is and if so does it work?” Carlson asked.

“No, I don’t think that Democratic Socialism as an ideal has been able to be embodied in a larger social context.”

The interview could have ended there with West admitting that this is an idea that has never worked, except that would be letting West off the hook too easily. Carlson brought the question back around to this point saying, “What happened in Venezuela? They call that Democratic Socialism but they don’t have toilet paper.”

At this point, West deflected by blaming outside forces for Venezuela’s failure.”

  7. I see that Ezra Levant is selling a t-shirt with Trudeau and GROPE on it.
I think everyone should email all the female MPs in the Lieberal party(or at least the cabinet ministers) and ask them if they thought it would be ok if he groped THEM.Or maybe ask if he ever groped them.
