Boris Johnson resigned as Britain’s foreign secretary on Monday, becoming the second cabinet minister to quit in less than 24 hours in protest over plans from Prime Minister Theresa May to soften the economic impact of British withdrawal from the European Union.
Mr. Johnson’s departure followed that of David Davis, who quit as Brexit secretary late Sunday, and deepens the mood of crisis gripping Mrs. May’s government three days after she thought she had won agreement from her cabinet on a Brexit plan.
The public face of the 2016 campaign that persuaded Britons to quit the European Union, known as Brexit, Mr. Johnson is perhaps the most high-profile advocate of leaving the bloc, and his departure highlights the depth of the bitter divisions in Mrs. May’s government.
The “remoaners” desperately elbowing their way to the deepest part of the trough.

The UK like Canada IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! They are constitutional monarchies! Nowhere on any ballot anywhere is there a provision for the voter to select any political executive north of Mayor or Police Chief. All political executives are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Royal Retard.
The Canadian Government (itself a personal possession of the Queen) politely requests that the leader of the winningest party in the House be appointed PM. This is a case of tradition called Constitutional Convention and is not codified anywhere in Canadian law.
Twice in Canada’s history this request was denied and the Royal Retards appointed their own boy because they did not approve of the choices made by Canadians.

The important lesson here is that the elites, such as those at the helm of the EU, will try to punish you if you dare challenge their trade arrangements and open borders one-world ideology.
Unfortunately May does not have the spine to stand up to them and Johnson and others have simply had enough.
The current state of affairs between the EU and Britain is precisely why such deals should never be signed in the first place. This is the point Trump has been trying to make for months.
But the good news is that the EU elites are digging their own grave by demonstrating to the world precisley why exisiting trade deals are so bad.
People will eventually catch on to the lesson. Johnson and others are well ahead of May on this. She is a slow learner.
Exactly. The UK should never have joined the EU in the first place, because now the Irish border is the unsolvable problem that will keep them in it, forever. They need to close that border to truly leave, but they promised their citizens in Northern Ireland that they would not do so as part of the Good Friday peace agreement. They are completely stuck; there’s simply no possible solution that satisfies both the English and the Irish.
We’re probably only at the beginning of waves of political turbulence in the UK as they continue trying & failing to cut the Gordian Knot they’re tied into.

‘trade arrangements’ NAFTA has been good for all. Customs unions like the EU OTOH are the worst.

Okay here’s the problem: a Britain completely cut from the EU is not going to be remotely free. The worst aspects of modern Britain-the surveillance state, the welfarism, hoplophobia, the thought police-are all homegrown. It’s entirely possible that we will be faced with a world that sports an EU and an independent welfare headed by PM Corbyn. In that case, the EU is vastly preferable, and Brexit saves the EU from Britain.
