Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

SF is 30miles from my doorstep … and I NEVER go. It has become a leftist corporate HQ in a disgusting sh*thole
#GoldenGateSh*thole
I thought San Francisco was all about “flowers in your hair” and “there will be a love in there”. Not so much I guess.
That was in 1967,SF and the whole world has changed a lot since then.
yes, “free love” and dope has really improved America.
The Summer of Love has turned into the Winter of Addiction, and it has been a long, apocalyptic winter…
I was there 10 years ago – spent the day around the waterfront – only one harmless and very gay panhandler.
On a trip there more than 20 years ago, we were accosted by aggressive panhandlers every few minutes. We never went back. Are you listening, Tourist Board of SF?
Laughably, one of the comments below the article suggests Paris is worse. That wasn’t our experience three years ago. I’d go back to Paris. Are you listening, Tourist Board of SF?
Probably not.
here’s a thought, mebbe we could do kim jong unhinged a favour and you know, ‘get it out of his system’, just this one time as part of the negotiations, he gets a freebie putting a mushroom cloud over SF CA.
gawd I love this blog. such a rich vein of humour AND attentive audience.
Was there about 3 years ago. Was eating at a fairly high end restaurant.
An aggressive woman vagrant walked right into the restaurant and started going from table to table demanding money. She appeared to be high on something.
What really amazed me was that the restaurant staff seemed reluctanct to do much about it. Did they agree with what she was doing? Or were they too scared to kick her out in case the liberal crazies targetted the restaurant? Who knows.
But as she got more aggresive and as more of the patrons looked nervous they finally got around to trying to get her to leave. Cops were eventually called.
And after much touchy feely nonsense the woman was finally removed.
I have seen all sorts of things in my life and even I was a bit nervous. It creeped me out to have a crazy bumb hounding me just a foot away, high on drugs, while I was in a nice restaurant, and while the staff did sweet nothing to assist. It pretty much ruined the dinner.
I avoid San Francisco these days and stay elsewhere even if I am attending a conference in the city.
Everything liberals touch they ruin. The proof is everywhere.
“Everything liberals touch they ruin. The proof is everywhere.” Exactly. Like Kenji says, they become sh*holes. In fact, every place that today’s liberals, progressives, and socialists control eventually turn into sh*tholes. Even many of the European countries are on a slow slide to that same status, both socially and economically.
That reminds me, McGuinty and Wynne did their best to turn Ontario into an economic wasteland, and Trudeau is now doing the same to the whole country.
The philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. The equal sharing of misery.. yeah that sounds like Chicago. Or san fran. Or Baltimore. Or Detroit…
Sounds like the federal and provincial NDP in Canada. No prosperity, just failure, envy and forcing their misery on those who choose to do better. They want me to share their misery, but are noticeably absent at 5 AM, the go to work, 12 hour shift, time of day.
been there done that Davis. construction job, coldest part of the winter and the only place that has heat are the rooms where the concrete is hardening. gawd I remember standing near those propane monsters soaking up some warmth until the sun came up, a gobbling down the fair from the coffee truck until the official lunch break.
that was the job where I learned about doing the lighting off 208V, ie 2 of the 3 phases of a 600V 3 phase system.
(aka bump the voltage, drop the wire gauge to save $)
cant recollect hearing great praise for the socialists in that environment . . . . and here I thought that was the target audience.
Saw a documentary about the 1960s hippie movement and it said that after awhile even the hippies left.
( The free stuff stopped flowing, the kids grew up and became college professors. The real hippies started communes, some bad ones like Jim Jones’ and Charles Manson’s to name two, come to mind )
I don’t know. Violence, drug overdoses, and sexually transmitted diseases sound awfully inviting.
I post this from Fredericton, NB. Two and a half years ago I had to have a four-hour cancer operation at the Mount Sinai Hospital, travelling all the way from New Brunswick to have it. I stayed at a medium-priced hotel exactly two blocks east of the hospital, on Yonge street, for two weeks — five days before the operation for pre-tests and appointments, five days at the hospital, and four days recuperating back at the hotel.
Naturally I had plentry of time to stroll around Yonge Street, and I noticed plenty of bums about. Some were terribly drunk, laying and sleeping on the streets. One time there was a drunk in serious trouble, laying on the sidewalk. A policeman and policewoman walked right by him, not even intervening. I am cheap, and ate some meals at the McDonald’s next to the hotel on Yonge. One time there a young black hood who stood outside the front door, taking drug orders.
This might seem like old hat to a Torontonian, but 1to an outsider it seemed unnerving. Not San Francisco, but liberal Toronto is trying. Give it time.
I wonder if there’s any regrets about the mass closures of psychiatric hospitals instead of reforming them? Unmanageable mental illness seems to be the root of the problem.
There are no regrets. The SJW have turned it into an industry with very low case loads and massive administration. At one time the churches handled most of this for a tithe
I am increasingly sympathetic to Kim Jong-Un’s approach to the problem. Tourists aren’t accosted by beggars in Pyongyang. Beggars aren’t allowed to live there. Nobody who might possibly make Kim Jong-Un look bad is. Living in Pyongyang is a privilege, not a right. The people of the city go to great lengths to be worthy of it, I hear.
When I am king, living in the great cities of north America will be a privilege, not a right, which the people of the city will have the right to revoke at any time—quickly putting the offender on a bus headed for the closed institution where they will fit in much better, and never embarrass decent city folk again.
I used to like SF. I thought about moving there one time.
Then, as time passed, each time it got more and more polluted and unpleasant.
I had a long break, several years, then went back about a year ago.
It had declined a LOT in that time. It is everything they say it is, and more.
I have no interest in returning ever again. Unless it’s in a tank.
If I was king, all the cities would be walled, and locked from the outside.
And filled up with water to 6″ from the top, to use as swimming pools?
Yet these people will keep electing Democrat after Democrat after Democrat election after election. Like a bunch of mindless automatons. They’re the initial reason that San Francisco has the problems they do have. Need proof? Check out Chicago and Detroit to name a couple. That’s your future San Francisco. How does it taste? Oh I know, you could always blame the Republicans for it like you’re often want to do.
See the following and you will have your answer.

I remember that. LOL!
Build it, and they will come.
Decaying San Francisco is progressive policy in a nutshell, for me.
Misery loves company and neo-Marxists want everyone to have company so Big Government can “fix” the problem.
