  1. Oh look, Conservatives defeating each other. Way to go. Justin and the statist sycophants thank you.

    1. I joined Ontario PCs just to vote for Ford. Before that, when Brown was in charge, I planned not to vote in the last provincial election.
I joined CPC just to vote for Mad Max, I let my membership lapse with the eunuch in charge, now I am not sure if I will vote in the next federal election…
Yep, another palace coup and a replacement for Sheer by someone with a pair is in order.
Is there a girl out there who could claim that Sheer grabbed her a$$ twenty years ago? We will only need you for one day, two max.

        1. I think I prefer a liberal who calls himself a liberal than a liberal who calls himself a conservative. That way, when fecal matter hits the rotary device, liberals own it.

      1. I supported Max in his run for leader and even sent a small amount of money. Some may recall my comments regarding Sheer. Anyway, the guy is milquetoast loser.

      2. “Is there a girl out there who could claim that Sheer grabbed her a$$ twenty years ago?”
Probably not, though there are number of women in the conservative caucus that have more muscle than the sweetheart that is currently and unfortunately in charge.
He is very close to the steady Eddy, the idiot that run Alberta for a few years thanks to the teachers and nurses unions that bought membership in the enemy territory since they could not get the electorate to support socialists.
Never consider the aberration of the last elections in Alberta as something that happened rationally. The conservatives, between Wild Rose and the oxymoron Progressive-Conservatives got something like 65% of the vote.
Be as it may, we have government of socialist extremists that are bent on destruction of the province, looking to Venezuela as an example to follow.

It remains to be seen if the UCP will stick to being conservative.
You don’t have to side with the Liberals to state your position that for obvious reasons that it is in the interest of Canadians to come to a trade agreement with the US.

“Progressive” socialist ideas like global warming, lgbxyz and other such are not and have not a place in trade.
Chinese told the boneheaded Canadian “leaders” to buzz off. That did not make much print.
In relations to the US it is one of the main points and is completely omitted by the media cartel.

  2. Andrew Sheer (deliberate typo) must believe in transparency as one can not only see through him, he’s practically invisible.

Thanks to Joe Who II, who so deftly snatched defeat from the jaws of electoral victory, we’ll be stuck with Canada’s national superzero Captain Stupid for at least another 5 years.

(A doff of my chapeau to whoever coined the “Captain Stupid” name a day or two ago.)

  3. What a sheer a-hole. Bernier may as well join the Liberals maybe he can get something done from inside the party that actually holds power and is likely to for some time?

    1. See, even if you start sort of smart, the stupid always wins with you at the end.

  4. What’s the betting that the PMO called “Andy” to ask for a display national unity on this question to stand up to the Americans. And of course, that means he must shut down any voice that might show a chink in the armour.

    Scheer – Liberal puppet.

  5. From now on, Scheer is OWNED by the PMO. All for national unity; we must save captain americon and boy wonder.

  6. I voted for Bernier in the belief that he was the only candidate who understood the zeitgeist of the base and conservative voters. Scheer is a bureaucrat who won on the basis that he would protect the interests of the caucus and keep them getting re-elected whether or not that meant the party ever beat the Liberals. Scheer has no principled governing philosophy and his sole argument for governing is simply that he is a better manager than Trudeau. Little or nothing would change if he were PM.

The Torys can count me out for any more donations, campaigning, etc. until Scheer is out or he has a come-to-Jesus moment.

    1. Yes,exactly my thoughts on the Ottawa-raised little bureaucrat,Scheer. I imagine Scheer has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, instead of being a mere MP, he’s leader of the Official opposition with the extra $50,000 or so he gets for that position.
Maintain the status quo, Andrew, you’ll retire one day with an awesome pension.

I let my membership lapse when Scheer became CPC leader, far preferred Bernier.

  7. This is an “own goal”

I disagree with the way Andrew Scheer has conducted himself in the past year. The Conservatives don’t need a wallflower, they need a dynamic and principled leader.

I support the policies of Maxime Bernier, in particular his stance on markets.

    1. The Conservatives don’t need a wallflower, they need a dynamic and principled leader.

Scheer is to the Conservatives what Jeff Sessions is to the American Department of Justice.

  8. Andrew Scheer
    A Liberal steer
Got all dressed up in blue
    On milk and eggs
    And climate change
    He’s like turdo la doo

  9. PM Dressup: If I make noise I get milk. Translation: When I want milk, I only want K Bec milk and everyone else can eat sh!t. Scheer is a sh!t-eater if there ever was one.
Max should join the Libertarian party. Then I can vote for him.
The Conservative party is a f*cking joke and sometimes almost as pathetic as the filthy, pus-drinking Liberals.
A pox on all of them.

  10. What conservative Party of Canada?
Thats Liberal Lite, Progressive Parasite Party.
The only “Con” in their platform and actions is the con itself.

Want to prevent a conservative revival/reaction occurring, against the statism of these last decades, it is so easy, copy the USA and use “progressives” to form an “opposition party” fully staffed by comrades..even better these full time politicians can be funded by the taxpayers.

  11. Will Andrew Scheer do for the Conservative Party, what Kim Campbell did to the Progressive Conservative Party?

So a Free Trade Agreement with the United States, accomplished in 1988, is put in jeopardy as Scheer and Trudeau fight for the votes of Quebec dairy farmers. While risking the Ontario auto/auto parts industries, steel and aluminum industries and who knows what else.

Just as the Progressive Conservatives under Kim Campbell thought she could win over Montreal Liberal voters away from Chretien, by supporting gun control (civilian disarmament); and Mulroney(from Quebec) took the aerospace maintenance contract from Wpg. and gave it to Quebec.
How did that work out for the Prog. Conservative caucus of 2 ?

I think some Liberal polling found superficial support for Trudeau slamming Pres. Trump on social media/MSM. Superficial, as I’d wager that no economics/job analysis factored into the survey.
The Cdn. MSM are as illiterate on economics, as they are on the cultural& political heritage of Canada.

The U.S. economy grew 4.8 percent in the last quarter. There is such a shortage of tradesmen/qualified truckers et al, in the mid-west, it won’t be long before Canadians will be recruited to fill some of the jobs, including professionals hit hard by Trudeau Liberals tax grab of small, incorporated businesses e.i. doctors, dentists, pharmacist/owners, et al.

Meanwhile in Canada, with a much higher unemployment rate, hundreds of thousands of underemployed/unemployed oil/gas sector workers languish due to the Trudeau Liberal/NDP/Green war on prosperity( but only against Canadian prosperity).

As P.M., Max Bernier would have a Canada/U.S. Free Trade deal signed and pipelines being laid east and west, already. The Canadian dollar’s value would rise and imported food prices would drop making it easier for those who buy groceries to eat, instead of have food served to them by servants (e.i. millionaires Trudeau/Morneau).

Does anyone think Canadians want a 2nd beta male for Prime Minister in 2019? If so, why would they want to switch one for another?

    1. “The U.S. economy grew 4.8 percent in the last quarter. ”

Pretty sure that’s on annualized basis IOW no it did not grow that much. US GDP growth under Trump has been lousy and I see no reason for that to change.

Re: unemployment: the US measures it very differently from Canada. While Canada’s unemployment may be higher, the gap is not as huge as the headlines would suggest.

      1. “US GDP growth under Trump has been lousy and I see no reason for that to change.”

        Obama’s final year – 2016 – 1.84%
        Trump’s first year – 2017 – 2.58%

Most forecasts for 2018 are for about 3%, which would be the first year for 3% since 2005.

I’ll never understand the self-imposed stupidity of some people in the Internet age.

        1. So IOW, much like I said, growth is still lousy (there is no reason to believe that the minor acceleration just posted about was due to Trump).

          1. Yes. That’s how objective measurement works. The tallest dwarf is still short. Christ you’re stupid.

          2. Ugh, I see, so how much growth would objectively be considered “not lousy”? Can you point me to the objective scale of yours?

BTW it is really amusing to see a mouth breathing imbecile like you trying to lecture his betters. One could not ask for a better example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

          3. Just out of curiosity, is lowest jobless rate in 44 years also “lousy”?

    2. My error, Midwest unemployment from 2009 to 2018 has dropped from over 10 percent down to 4 percent. I should have referenced before posting. My bad.

3.5 percent unemployment is considered full employment for practical statistics. The U.S. job market is finally showing the kind of recovery, one used to see after previous recessions, but not the 2008 one.

      https://www.chicagofed.org/region/midwest-economy/midwest-economy (data)
      ————————————————————————————————————————————————–
The US unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent in May 2018 from 3.9 percent in the previous month, and below market expectations of 3.9 percent. It was the lowest rate since April 2000, as the number of unemployed decreased by 281 thousand to 6.07 million and employment rose by 293 thousand to 155.47 million.

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.5 percent), Blacks (5.9 percent), and Asians (2.1 percent) decreased in May. The jobless rates for adult women (3.3 percent), teenagers (12.8 percent), Whites (3.5 percent), and Hispanics (4.9 percent)
      changed little over the month.

  12. Does anyone think Canadians want a 2nd beta male for Prime Minister in 2019? If so, why would they want to switch one for another?

That’s one of the problems with the two main political parties. They’re interchangeable and there’s largely little difference between them.

      1. At least the Liberals have decent drug policy.

We’re gonna need them (the drugs, not the liberals).

  13. I have been dividing my donations between Max and the Party. No more, from now on all to Max and I always donate the legal maximum.

  14. I’m out for next election. I’ll vote conservative but won’t campaign for Scheer especially after this. A BIG F U to scheer and the scumbags who rigged this thing with that nonsense leadership race.

    1. Yes myself also. Glad to see from the comments so far I am not alone. Derangement syndrome, I like to think of it as a choice. I made that choice for a change for Leitch but Max was second. Like others I don’t get what happened at the vote but surprise out pops AS. I will vote PC but will not $upport otherwise.

      PS
Kate I noticed for the first time the edit function. Kudos to you for that feature and not for me as having missed it for so long 🙂 I am usually onto the next post.

  15. This is s very bad move by Scheer. Very short sighted. The Liberals are very vulnerable at this point and Scheer needs to take advantage of that for the sake of Canada. He also needs to take a leadership role in addressing the problem Trudeau has created with Trump, by calling for Trudeau to make amends. It does not look like Scheer understands what he needs to do.

    1. And here we have yet another iteration of the “he’s basically good, just needs a push in the right direction” argument.

You fell for CBC’s “Harper cannot win” balloon. Deal with it. You failed to pick a good leader to succeed Harper. Deal with it. Trudeau is going to win elections until he dies. Deal with it. That is the party you give donations to. Deal with it.

Scheer knows EXACTLY what he needs to do. His job is to make sure Liberals get re-elected, just like Joe Clark. And he is doing it well.

      What, you didn’t know that?

  16. Trudeau was faced with trade issues and rather than engage seriously, he whipped out the flag and ginned up a totally unnecessary crisis with the US.

The Cons should have had the balls to take Trump up on his offer of zero tariffs. No flag waving and no conflict that we will inevitably lose – just a commitment to free markets and prosperity without the ruinous nationalism.

  17. The Westminister government does not tolerate dissent. You either back the leader or get out of the way. Any leader that fails to rule with an iron fist will not lead for long.
Not sure what Max did but he failed to accept that he lost to Scheer.
If he’s as libertarian as he appears he’s probably not much of a team player – too bad really because there are few
actual libertarian thinkers in the party.

    1. “Not sure what Max did but he failed to accept that he lost to Scheer.”

According to an anonymous CPC caucus member, Max had the audacity to point out the blindingly obvious fact that milkers got Scheer elected. He also had to gall to work on something (a book) besides just devoting his life to The Party.

While it’s true that Westminster government is much more unitary than alternatives, part of achieving that unity is bringing heavyweights into your team. Scheer has done the opposite.

      1. Not sure I accept the fact that Max pointed out the obvious and that got him punted. Scheer himself has joked about the milk lobby.
Stephen Harper wrote a book while in office. A well researched well written book on the history of hockey. You don’t get fired for writing a book.
Max must have shit the bed .

  18. Wow! Tax Freedom Day in Canada is June 10! My Canadian brothers and sisters working like a slave for THE GOVERNMENT … for HALF the YEAR!!! Behold the Marxist utopia … uggh.

Thankfully … MY President’s TAX CUT rolled back the US Tax Freedom Day from May 13 to April 22!! Thanks to MY President … I’ve been working FOR MYSELF … my family … for almost 2-months of 2018 … woot woot!!

  19. I was a supporter of Max at the last convention and know that he was double crossed by the party insider con-men. What was the reason they cooked up to have Sheere give Max the ax.

    1. It’s on CBC. Like I said above, some anonymous CPC caucus member claims that the caucus is butthurt over Max saying things that are obvious and daring to have a side-project.

  20. Well, they picked another red tory, in the Joe who mould.
Red tories, like all socialists, love their purges.
So, all counter revolutionaries gotta go.

Don’t blame me. I didn’t buy a party membership; I also didn’t listen to the CBC when they told you who wasn’t electable, and who was.

Hope you enjoy your 43rd term of a Trudeau as PM.

  21. Good move dimples Justy lite, you have seen the last of my yearly donations, and my family’s. Trying hard to be what the Americans had up until Donald upset the applecart, is that it?. “You do four or eight then we will do the same and do the same as you” Well little dimples you just handed 4 more years to another moron, good luck with fundraising!

  22. The Conservatives have to learn that they can not be backup Liberals.
The one time locally that they picked a leader based on appealing to Liberals, they lost against a very weak NDP because people like me skipped voting (only election I ever sat out). We just can’t support them in any election where they run in Liberal mode like Joke Lark, or that is all we will ever get.

  23. It seemed to me that the Cons wanted to lose the last election, their campaign was dreadful… clearly they want to lose the next election too… oh well, they’re all globalists anyhow so who cares… I wasn’t going to vote for Scheer and the other Liberal Party anyhow… Justard is the perfect actor to “lead” the Post National State and it looks like the Conservatives think so too.

  24. Just a comment made on: http://www.greaterfool.ca/2018/06/12/trumped-3/#comments

“Over 100,000 good jobs were lost in the oil industry and the federal government and the rest of Canada could barely manage a collective sigh. And eastern Canada continues to suck Albertans dry through transfer payment nonsense. And Canada continues to prevent Alberta from getting its product to tidewater to help this province’s economy.

So I should give a crap about auto workers in Ontario, and dairy farmers in Quebec because…..Oh yeah because we’re Canadians and were in it together?

    Riiight.

Oil patch jobs disappeared when oil went from $147 to $27 on world markets. But with an attitude like that, you deserve a cold shoulder. – Garth” Turner, former Finance Minister, CPC Party, currently investment guru at: Turner Investments & author of this blog.

The comments on the blog are a good cross section of thinking out of Central Canada. Yaaaaay S for B, boooooo Trumph. Mostly. The flag waving on cars, steel, aluminum & dairy=good, oil??? shaddap ya whiners.

This country is done. I’ll give Garth credit, he allowed my post though. This is a supposed “conservative thinker”. He writes well though.

Go there. Read. Post, if you want. You’re out numbered though.

  25. I voted Scheer first and Bernier second on my ballot, but I was waffling back and forth right up until I cast my vote.

I think Scheer was idiotic to back Trudeau in his spat with Trump. Scheer could have taken much more clever approach. And Kicking Bernier from the front row is rash but it was clearly motivated by concerns that Bernier’s view on supply management plays into Trump’s hands. Unfortunately at this moment in time there is not a single politician in Canada that wants to call out Trudeau for the idiot he is out of fear they might alienate Trump-hating voters.

While I disagree with what Scheer has done I won’t write him off just yet. His strategy may be to let Trudeau hang himself all on his own.

    1. “His strategy may be to let Trudeau hang himself all on his own….

Aye, but let me finish that sentence for ya

…instead of showing the courage and principle associated with true leadership by speaking out against the many things that are ruining our Country.”

  26. the debate misses the central, core fact that we are watching politishuns in action.
their credo from the getgo, is to acquire POWER. power at any cost. power sitting on top of an Everest of lies and manipulations and deals and propaganda and image management and more lies by the tanker load.
rule #1 whilst in power: do *whatever* it takes to get reelected. this includes listening to the [insert special interest group] lobbyists.
power is a commodity and as such is for sale. there is a financial AND moral cost. to acquiring and wielding POWER.

tell me Im wrong, I will tell you I’ve been watching this gang since my early teens in the early 60s.

as far as pm ponysocksturd and his ummm, er, ummm, speaking, um, style, umm, feel free to um, look at er, um, a um typical er sound bite from umm, bob um stanfield.
    m’kay?
they ALL do it. every one of them. and always will. in 8 to 10 years it will be time to chuck the Ford administration. count on it.
they ALL do it. it is humahn nature, kinda like gravity; originates in ‘nature’ ie genetic dispositions, fight or flight, selfish interests ahead of common interests, etc etc regardless of some convenient label called ideology.
    they ALL do it.
