  2. Because “True-Dope-ians” all agree the China’s basic dictatorship is a superior form of government; and entrenching corruption is ‘good for business’!

    The overall democide for the Peoples Republic of China (1928-1987) was 76,702,000 people killed; and now WaPo thinks that dictatorship and it’s return is a great thing. Symbolically WaPo’s moniker is Democracy Dies in Darkness; especially when you are cheer-leading it’s demise!

    1. For there to have been democide in China there would have to be “demos” to “cide”, and than has never been the case. Not that I think it’s a good thing that happened, but this is the way China has always been and it’s not likely changing any time soon.

      1. Not following you… democide just refers to the mass murder of any group of people by their government. This has clearly occurred in China – probably the worst case of democide in history.

  5. Having the biggest country on Earth under another dictatorship is never going to be good.

    China’s recent openness has been all about the fact that the Premier/President could only hold office for 10 years and then the next most competent person took over. The term limits keep the leader acting in the best interest of the people since there is a legacy and future reprisals to keep in mind.

    Now Xi will be looking to crack down whenever a threat to his power appears (think any kind of action there is, as in what do dictators normally do when they are asserting their authority, as in secret jails and torture etc.) and pretty soon, Xi’s son is going to be the “Prince-in-waiting” and then it goes even further downhill from there.

    Short of democracy, the next best option is term limits for the leaders.

    An ignorant and compliant electorate, great plan,working well wrt the ignorance, compliance not working so well.

    The wanna bees are small nasty people, who always believe their tiny world view is best for all and the world would be perfect if only they were in command.
    Time we rewarded our leaders, based on results.
    For those who have enslaved us with generational debt, a gory public excution would be a fine start.
    Public servants who have built public debt,welfare and dependency as their “service to us” should also be paid accordingly.As in made to pay us.

  9. There was a time in classical Greece where, when the politicians that could be compared to todays, were so corrupt and dictatorial, the citizens of a city state would vote in a tyrant.
    As the word implies, they were precisely that. The tyrant would put things in order by brute force. The interesting thing is that the tyrant could and would be voted out of office by the citizens.
    That is not to say a tyrant would not want to be your basic Xi.
    They normally would kill the sonofabitch.

    And what’s so good about democracy anyway? Look at Canada.
