Former top Canadian security officials warn Ottawa to sever links with China’s Huawei
Bell Canada is conducting trial runs in rural communities to test the next generation of 5G technology. Last March, Huawei and the Ontario government announced they would focus on 5G technology at the Chinese company’s Canada Research Centre in Kanata, Ont. In December, Huawei included Carleton University in its 5G research.
Mr. Adams, the former head of the Communications Security Establishment (CSE), said Huawei has long been a concern to Canadian and U.S. spy services. CSE is Canada’s secretive signals intelligence agency.
“I would be very careful about getting engaged with Huawei,” he said in an interview. “It doesn’t surprise me that the Americans are concerned about Huawei and no doubt especially concerned about what they may be doing in 5G.”
U.S. security officials say Huawei products and the new 5G technology provide China with the capacity to conduct remote spying and maliciously modify or steal information or even shut down systems.
Ralph Goodale says there’s nothing to worry about. You can trust Ralph.

It’s ok folks. Ralphie is all over this one. (we’re doomed)
Ralphie has been head bobbing too long.
CSIS has a right to be concerned. I have seen a hacker during a Skype session because Microsoft did not remove the backdoor put in by the Chinese. It is the same reason that I will not purchase a Lenovo computer even though the company is owned by IBM. But the Canadian government, Trudeau, and Ralph Goodale are too stupid to understand.
IBM does not own Lenovo. Lenovo purchased IBM’s PC business(most of it).
Why worry about the Chinese ? It’s your Canadian politicians you need to fear.
Intel and AMD have not shown themselves to be trustworthy either lately.
“Ralph Goodale says there’s nothing to worry about.”
I don’t believe him. The liberals are faaaar too busy attending to pretend-problems to be able to address any real ones.
Yes, Squealer does have that aura of trustworthiness.
Sidewinder Report. Read it, if you can find it. Spells it all out in the 1990’s even. The Chicoms were buying up “influence” a long time ago in this country, all under the watchful eye of the LPOC. Playing guanxi with them. Still are. They have a certain admiration for them…….says Boss Trudeau. Treat the LPOC et al as a “family business” & you have them all figured out.
On the principle that there’s no one so hapless as a liberal finance minister — who may or may not be qualified, but whose boss definitely couldn’t care less about what he or she thinks — I haven’t trusted or listened to Ralph Goodale for a long time.
CBC Radio reported on this 5G initiative this morning. If journalists limit their questions to What, When and Where, then they’re just serving as a community-events calendar. The questions should be Who pays? and, Why should we pay for it? There might be a good answer, but we’ll never know if the question doesn’t get asked.
back in the 80s when I was being enlightened on the minutia of chip RAM, address space etc, it occurred to me, a secretive and malicious scheme (based on gubbamint funds and direction) within the big mfgs and other players (dat youse Bill G?) whereby an address space, inaccessible, in fact invisible to yer run-of-the-mill app could sit above the regular RAM that tinkerers like moi were jamming into the motherboard slots (but still withing the theoretical limits of a given processor) containing any manner of ‘sneak peak’ schtuff.
*nothing* since then has changed my view except to reinforce it.
few listened because few understood what I was getting at.
kinda like ralph (slang for puke) goodgrief.
*
of course, there’s always a non-macro
aspect as well…
register “asian assassinz”… not guns
*
Did Ralph change his name from Wiggum to Goodale?
“Me fail national security? That’s unpossible!”
*
“Me fail national security? That’s unpossible!”
“The report said that to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s
election campaign promise to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees by
the end of 2015, changes were made to the screening process.”
“The screening period was shortened to 96 hours from 30 days,
for example.”
feeling safer yet?

That was worth a good enough chuckle to warrant a public acknowledgement.
NEO/Canadian Observer, why don’t we see Wiggum and Goodale in the same room at the same time? Could they be one in the same? 🙂
This guy is the limit. He is worse than any yes-man.
