The thing that jumped out even more about this story is this: the Miami Herald chose to call this male teenager who had not yet transitioned “she”. This might seem like a small thing, but it in fact is a massive one. In this case, the media is attempting to change the way we use language, which is to say, trying to change at a foundational level how we think.
We cannot conform to this lie. We cannot. The stakes are enormous. You change a people’s language, and you change the way they construe reality. George Orwell addressed this point in his famous essay “Politics and the English Language.”

How do we deserve this sick society that is being foisted on us.
That a highly specialized medical cottage industry of male-to-female(facsimile) cranial surgeons even exist … describes the utter DEPRAVITY of our society. We are so powerful, capable, wealthy, and BORED … that we can mutilate our OWN children to … make them “happy”. Nay, I suggest it is to make the parents … “happy”. I would expect that a competent psychiatrist or psychologist would advise the patient that NONE of this CHARADE … no matter how scienci or techhi … will make shim happy. Money, and a desire to be all things to all people … to be so … ugggh … proooooo(AG)gressive, allows this to propagate … by those who SHOULD know better.
Please tell me NO taxpayer funds are being used for Dr. Mengele’s little shop of horrors ?
But didn’t you know that the science has been settled?
A decade or two ago, those children would have been doped up with anti-depressants. Earlier, they would have been dragged to child psychologists.
Now? Pump ’em full of hormones. If they feel they are what they think they are, then they are.
This transtrender BS is going to go down with “recovered memory therapy” and Satanic Ritual Abuse in the annals of utterly made-up shite the psychology industry has destroyed lives with.
Pathetic. (The comments run 90% in favour of ‘Call her by her name’)
Shill alert. Marketing wizards tell me I should assault potential buyers wherever they exist online. The first five people to buy my defiantly non-PC short story collection ‘Uppercuts’ (available cheap on Kindle, also Amazon, etc.) will receive a free copy of my next book–‘Right Hooks’ provided they leave a review, good or bad. That is all. Carry on.

“A decade or two ago, those children would have been doped up with anti-depressants. Earlier, they would have been dragged to child psychologists.”
And before that, they would have gotten a cuff in the back of the head and then told to ‘stop this nonsense’ and get back to their chores or they wouldn’t be getting any dinner. Now, I guess that once universal parenting approach would be likely to get you jail time.
Anyways, I wonder how much of this supposed ‘sexual confusion’ is due to the easy availability of hardcore porn to even young children these days? Just a generation or three ago, a young teen was lucky to find a blurry black and white photo of a boob(the nuns used to cut the naked African pictures out of our school library Nat. Geographics). Now, it’s unlimited numbers of hi-def close-up videos explicitly covering just about every ‘kink’ you can imagine… available to preteens.
How many modern parents would never conceive letting their kids walk to school alone, but then allow them to roam the seriously mean streets of the internet virtually alone? Probably the exact same parents who seemingly make up faux dangers to stress over while ignoring many of the real ones their children face daily.
Maybe we need some research into how Mother Nature created so many errors matching up equipment with the right genes/hormones/thing-a-whatevers.
Sorry, it’s not something I have studied but it seems to be epidemic.Wonder if it has anything to do with climate change or pollution or too much information?
The rather sad part is that it’s not even a little bit surprising that Eric killed himself despite “having everything”. The most common root cause for self-destructive sexual or body dysphoria is repressed childhood sexual trauma. Avoiding that with a toxic coping mechanism may stave off the inevitable for a while, but not forever.
The fact that suicide rates don’t meaningfully change post-transition should be all the evidence one needs to halt this fad until better research can be done.
“…seems to be epidemic.Wonder if it has anything to do with climate change or pollution or too much information?”
My opinion for what it is worth, is that, in general, we have become a society that believes in nothing, with no constraints, living in a vacuum, and looking for meaning in various vacuous machinations of the intelligentry.
I expect that the MB will have an antidote for this.

I recall the suggestion, made about 25 years ago, that homosexuality might have a genetic cause. It was an intriguing idea and it got a lot of publicity at the time but there didn’t seem to be much interest in it after that.
One would have thought that the successful sequencing of the human genome back in 2000 would have led to an investigation as to whether it had any actual validity. So far, I haven’t heard anything through the scientific and technical news sources I use.
“…The comments run 90% in favour of ‘Call her by her name’…”
I am in favour of calling her by her name. Which is Eric. The story says Eric intended to change to Hope after graduating high school. Didn’t make it, still Eric.
I argue it is “boredom”. FAKE boredom. Boredom born of a culture that says it is “boring” to be a cisgendered, straight white male. And only slightly less boring to be a cisgendered, straight, white female. Boring to be born a patriarch. Boring not to have tattoos, ear lobe holes, or be gay, or have pink hair. Whatever … all that has all become boring too. Your job is boring, your husband is boring, your last vacation was boring … YOU’RE BORING! Just look at all those other Faaaaabulous Facebook Lies, er Lives! Yours is BORING!
When a society is $Rich$ enough to fund gender-mutilating surgery as if it were “medically necessary” … then that society needs a serious FAMINE … or catastrophic Global Warming cleansing (that’s an entire other story of societal boredom).
I was born into a world that taught me to value things that actually matter … core values; like a job, a career, a home, a family, a solid committed relationship … yeah, yeah … all those things that now elicit mockery and derision. But were those things actually highly evolved rules for a “happy” “fulfilled” life … or were they all an illusion? All I can say is that it was a LOT less an illusion than what passes for “having everything” today.
same here.
my immediate thought was, given the way genetic inheritance works, would this ‘trait’ not WEED ITSELF OUT certainly over dozens, hundreds of generations?
nowhere was THAT mystery even mentioned.
I was born into a world that taught me to value things that actually matter … core values; like a job, a career, a home, a family, a solid committed relationship
So was I, though I didn’t get all those things, though not through lack of trying.
Unfortunately, society requires that one needs to acquire them and do so by a certain age. Those who don’t are deemed to have a diminished status or a lesser worth. (“Oh, he’s not married.” “At his age? Is something wrong with him, like, well, you know…..”)
“Earlier, they would have been dragged to child psychologists.”
“Eric went for sessions with a psychologist.”
The problem is, Sewer, psychologists are the problem.
The purpose of the psychologist is to help those with conflicting thoughts to think properly. Treat the illness. Don’t enable it.
The sequencing of the human genome has made it possible for researchers to locate which genes are likely responsible for certain medical conditions, though not necessarily explain how they come about.
The apparent silence after that announcement is baffling. It’s possible that nobody’s investigated it because there’s no funding for it. Conducting research, particularly in genetics, requires money and few scientists can afford to pay for it themselves.
On the other hand, maybe it hasn’t been investigated because someone doesn’t want to know the answer. It would be embarrassing to claim that a certain behaviour has a genetic origin only to find that there’s no physical evidence to support it. Maintaining the possibility that it is caused by that can justify people engaging in it (“I can’t help myself. I was born that way.”) and is done so for political reasons.
If it is caused by genes, and it hasn’t disappeared over successive generations, one would think one might want to know why. Answering that question could also help explain how other diseases and conditions arise.
All that matters is that you valued that ideal relationship … as opposed to cynical “use” of the opposite sex
The purpose of the psychologist is to help those with conflicting thoughts to think properly. Treat the illness. Don’t enable it.
I’ve heard of cases where someone’s had the full “renovation” and then realized that it wasn’t such a good idea. In one such situation, the person in question filed a lawsuit against the physician and therapists, citing–get this–misdiagnosis.
Unfortunately, such diagnoses are based on flimsy, often unverifiable, evidence.
The “cure” is like thermonuclear war: once started, it can’t be undone.
History Buff is correct. If there were a “gay gene”, it would not survive long due to natural selection — unless gays purposefully mate with, ugh, women just to preserve the gay genes.
The best argument for prenatal determination of homosexuality I have run across are accidental mistakes made in the replication of chromosomes, giving rise to three sexual chromosomes rather than the normal two. People with XXY chromosomes can arguably be confused. But I am not aware of arguments to that effect. Papers I have read said that mostly they identify as males, and are not even aware of the abnormality.
In any case, all three possible occurrences of three genes (XXX, XXY, XYY) each occurs about one in a thousand cases, which is more than an order of magnitude (i.e. one tenth) lestys than the usual figures cited for homosexuality.
Years ago a study was conducted to determine if there was a genetic predisposition to male homosexuality. After much review of more than 5,000 homosexual participants, it was determined that 15% of the participants did, in fact, have a genetic predisposition to homosexuality.
As for the other 85% – they just got sucked into it.
What we like about the English language, the language of business around the planet, is it’s specificity. When we talk about homosexuals getting married to each other it is actually impossible, as per the definition of the word marriage, as we all know. Jason Kenny, our future premier of Alberta, once said that gays can marry, just not each other. Once we eff around with the dictionary, we do not have a dictionary. It becomes a fantasy word book. Want to add some pictures, sure go ahead. Coloring book and crayons available too! So, once they toyed with the definition of this the flood gates opened!
A person who cross dresses is a cross dresser. You can never change sex as they would have you believe. Ah, ha ha. I still love men, they can be charming and all are handsome if they are charming.
