  1. That doesn’t surprise me. I know two people from my grad student days who’re profs there.
One got her job, in part, because she was female and a member of a visible minority, something that the federal government encouraged at the time she was hired. In her case, though, that wouldn’t have been necessary as she was a talented researcher.
I don’t know when the other one started his job there. It must have been before this PC nonsense went into overdrive as he’s white.

  2. Love the video of an impossibly young Van Morrison … but oh gawwd, the studio mix overdubbed onto the concert footage … ugh.

  3. A foolish post by an rcmp member. If the APTN knows the identity of the poster as they claim his career just ended.
The kid didn’t deserve to die. While I am skeptical about the circumstances surrounding the incident I trust that the jury system got it right.

  4. The NP printed a story all you need know about this case . The title is a masterpiece of fake news. How dare someone on the frontline addresses the truth. This shooting was not the result of a property dispute, it is the result of fear for your life . I have no doubt the Stanley’s were confronted by 5 – count them -5 belligerent brazen drunk hoods . The press would have you believe they were looking for help. Ever heard of a cell phone ? It is doubtful there was not at least one ,because I know they use them in their various ” charitable ” activities. It is also extremely likely it was not their first rodeo and it is likley there is sealed records . But then when you have been robbed more times than you can count, you have neighbors bear sprayed , knives thrown at people, trucks beaten with a hammer while preventing an attack on an officer and you have seen the damage when they come back and ram the garage doors after they have robbed some one , well it taints your view. You also realize there could be a little danger in dealing with 4 or 5 or more, which is how they roll.

“OPEC’s worst fear comes true as the day of U.S. ‘energy dominance’ draws closer”
“Surging output of U.S. shale oil has once again shattered the assumptions of OPEC and the global energy establishment, pushing the crude market back into surplus and nipping recovery in the bud.
The International Energy Agency said the world is witnessing the second great wave of U.S. shale growth, with production soaring by 1.3 million barrels per day (b/d) over the last year. Extra U.S. supply threatens to match the entire growth in crude demand from China, India, and the rest of the world in 2018.”

  7. “The kid didn’t deserve to die.”
Uhh! Yes he did. People that commit armed robbery are making an implicit threat of violence and death. Alberta trapper – not likely. I used to trap – trappers aren’t momma’s boys.

  8. Were you referring to this “gem” of an article?? The National Post appears to rebut Stanleys defence.
    http://nationalpost.com/news/canada/gerald-stanleys-magical-gun-the-extremely-unlikely-defence-that-secured-his-acquittal
So the NP phoned Tennessee, Pennsylvania, The UK and an editor from the Canadian Bar review who labels it a “magical gun”.
At the end of the article a retired RCMP expert believes he can recreate the event.
When will the media and progressives understand that Stanley had to be found GUILTY BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT???

  9. Something about the ever popular “fake news” its makers and how it bit them in the ass.

A most excellent instructive information on how the “Democrats” are set to control free flow of information into a completely fake narrative.
Not to be left behind, the learning institutions of all levels are in.
Our descendants have a bleak future for the near term.

  10. It reminds one of the current media frenzy on the case of a farmer and a native kid in Saskatchewan.
The complete story is willfully omitted, the only “news” reported by the media is that Saskatchewan farmer killed a native kid.
The whole story is a tragedy.
For the idiot politicians, what’s not to like, they are one upping on who beat their chest bigger and their media flunkies hiding the whole story.
It’s a disgrace as someone would say.

  11. Okay. Change of subject. Does anyone here recall the case of the missing woman from Edmonton that bears a strange similarity to the Toronto fireman who disappeared from a ski hill in upstate New York and turned up dazed and confused in Sacramento four days later? The Edmonton woman was found down in California about five days later, dazed and confused. Let’s just say the story is just weird enough to be really interesting at this point. The Edmonton one occurred just prior to this whole interweb thing, so without a name or a speecific date, it’s impossible to find out any more details.

“The kid didn’t deserve to die.”
another red herring… this isn’t about “deserve” and,
    btw… he wasn’t a kid.
a gang of drunk, armed home invaders, on their third attempt
to steal vehicles, no less… simply picked the wrong guy to
    mess with.
they then lied about being drunk, armed and stealing stuff…
one going so far as to perjure himself in court.

Andrew Weaver is an anti-oilsands extremist from Victoria, B.C.
He claims to oppose oil and gas – but he only criticizes oil and gas from Canada, not from OPEC giants like Saudi Arabia and Iran.”
“Weaver sued climatologist Dr. Tim Ball for, amongst other things, saying Weaver was “lacking a basic understanding of climate science,” according to a glowing New York Times article, cheering on his SLAPP suit.
Seriously? Suing someone, in a court of law, for saying you don’t understand global warming? This from a scholar, an academic, a teacher? And now a politician – an opposition politician, no less.
Weaver is now a Green Party MLA in British Columbia, someone who hurls insults as part of his job description.”

  17. I’ve loved and enjoyed the song ‘Here Comes the Night’ for over 50 years.
I believe it is one of the 10 best songs from that era. Listening to Beatle songs from that era seem a bit underwhelming compared to the way that song sounds today. It holds up very well.
