I am not sure why the government owes these people anything. Thousands of people are maimed with no recourse to compensation. Why are these people any different? Sure the government approved the drug – based on tests the government did not do. Their responsibility is to reviewed the reasonableness of research done by drug companies. Missing a non-obvious result is not necessarily negligence. We have compensation for victims without other recourse. It’s called welfare.
