  1. In my opinion the press has been biased since newspapers were first published. There used to be both left and right popular sheets, but then about a half century, post WWII, ago the print and visual media began to be increasingly concentrated on the left and lately more shrill in pushing a leftist agenda (see MSNBC and CBC).
The US at least has FoxNews in the visual media, but all the main print, except maybe WSJ, is progressive. In Canada there is no right-wing visual media alternative; just shades of progressive. In Canada, print is mostly left biased, although the National Post has both views represented, and only the Sun papers have a right-wing slant.

  2. ken, Seems to me that the initial infection of Left Wing Progreessive BS started in the mid 1960’s When Public Servants including Teachers -Profs etc became unionized. That started the ball rolling to what we currently have today. Prior to that time, one could take verbatim the NEWS as presented to us, be it in print or on the tely.
Today with the exception of a number of blogs, Fox from time to time, Briebart, Gatestone and the Rebel, its full on 100% Post Modern Marxist Propaganda. Our so called “news” outlets are nothing short of Pravda. Joesef Goebells would be proud.
One sniff of the CBC and you can literally smell the pro Islam – Globalist, Sexual Deviance – Marxist agenda they have had for at least 30 years.
That I would see the De-Funding of the CBC in my lifetime..? Priceless.

  3. Slowly but Steadily the Wash Poo is moving away from supporting the False Narrative of the New York Slime. Possibly Wash Poo will be able to rise to a level of reasonable fairness and accuracy as WaPo in the American Political Arena.
The bent-knee to an increasingly evident, always and from it’s beginnings, corrupt Democrat Party of America will receive succour from THE HILL.
The New York Slime will be unable to escape the “evil force” grasping the throat of the Slime’s Editorial Board and will inevitably slide below the Swamp scum and gurgle away in ignominy.

  4. The media is staffed by progressives and more often owned by progressives. I’m right your wrong and what is worse is your values are either based on ignorance or racism.
IMHO the problem goes beyond that. The slide in ethics within all facets of society gives those in power a green light to do whatever they want. Combine this with the accelerating failure of business plans in printed media and TV. Advertising dollars are migrating to the internet. How does the MSM respond? IMO they sink their standards and appeal to the lowest aspects of the human condition. All this couched in progressive terms.

  5. Sadly, Atkinson is actually DEFENDING biased “journalism”. What!? you say? Well, unfortunately, right at the START of her Prager cartoon … she repeats the LIE that journalists are making a … “mistake”. While I understand she is giving her peers the benefit of the doubt … her characterization of today’s MSM as making a “mistake” argues against her final point … that you have to admit you have a problem in order to heal yourself. If she were talking about Anthony Weiner, it would be as her saying that Weiner “mistakenly” tried to negotiate sex with a 15yo girl. When I make a “mistake”, it is assumed that I was not cognizant of my error … that it was an “accident”. Weiner did not “accidentally” sext a 15yo girl. And journalists are not “accidentally” RAPING MY President. No … they are clawing at his clothes and desperately trying to penetrate his presidency. It is no “mistake”. It is a gang-style HIT. “Mistakes” are innocently-made … the MSM is NOT making “mistakes”. Sorry Sheryl … you are acting like an enabler.

  6. I have long had no use for the MSM. My favourite(?) line they far to often use is “It was not immediately clear….”
Ignoring for the moment the bizarre use of the word “immediately”, we are left with “It was not.. clear”, which means that there is some level of ambiguity. That’s all it means. Nothing else. Unless of course one is speaking of the weather.
Are their bloated egos so fragile that they cannot bring themselves to speak the truth and say “WE DON’T KNOW?” Because that is the truthful statement and “It was not …clear” is a lie. A boldfaced lie designed to give them a way out of admitting that they don’t know everything – something they desperately want us to believe.
As to their use of the word “immediately”, what can I say? It is clearly a stupid use of the word and not one that anyone in the general public would use. Often it is used in an indignant manner, e.g., Mr. (named politician) would not immediately respond to questions…”. Why would the politician, or anyone, be obligated to “immediately respond” to questions from some snotty reporter? No one is obligated in any manner to “immediately respond” to the MSM.
We don’t like the MSM at all. Neither does the general public – which, of course, we are all a part. Stopping these lies would be a good start in regaining trust they have lost, or may not have had in the first place.
So the next time you encounter the MSM using the phrase “It was not immediately clear…” or some variant thereof in a newspaper or magazine, throw that newspaper or magazine away, or if you encounter the phrase on TV, change the channel, or if it is on the net, surf to a different site. Because if they will lie to you about something that mundane you can be guaranteed that everything that follows will be a lie as well.

  7. of course, the falling out between turdeux 1.0 and the msm of the day is to be celebrated . . . . .
‘be careful what you wish for’.
E-V-E-R-Y media story in my 66 yrs that I had personal 1st hand knowledge of, they ALWAYS got it wrong, missed some vital aspect, spin, spin, spin, etc.
I long ago acquired a jaded view of the msm.

  8. The same with me as with historybuff. I have been involved in a number of newsworthy events and they all ended up in print with serious errors. However, the rot goes back further that post-WWII, I read (but can’t find the reference right now) that the CBC refused to cover the Conservative leadership convention during WWII. The Liberal bias is ingrained.

  9. I agree Kenji. It’s not a MISTAKE when the Establishment Media refuses to report on anything to do with all the corruption involving Hillary and the Dems. It’s not a MISTAKE when the Big Bosses at CNN, allegedly, told their people to dismiss and destroy Donna Brazile on her book tour that’s devastating to Hillary and Dems. It’s not a MISTAKE when CNN edits a video to make Pres.Trump look bad in Japan. It’s DELIBERATE. Not sure I agree Ms Atkinson is an enabler though. I thing her choice of words were a… Hmmm… MISTAKE.

  10. Bull. Everyone distrusts the MSM-except for ‘their’ outlet. Conservatives love Fox, liberals love MSNBC. It’s just tribalism and validation all the way down.

  11. I hate newspapermen.
They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are.
I would hang them all, but tomorrow we would have their rumors and false reports coming from hell.
    William Tecumseh Sherman,
    General Union Army, 1863.

Still I would like to see some of them lynched.

  12. Media dishonesty extends even to the weather services and networks
Has anyone noticed that not only do they hype global warming, but they hype mild weather events into hysterical hurricanes with blizzards and sharknados?
They claim it’s a public service, because Canadians have no idea that winter can be stormy, blowy and cold or that we can have big bloody thunderstorms. In reality it’s another lie, this one designed to generate viewers and / or clicks and so help their bottom line. They are lying for money. Nasty word for that.
