While everyone speculates on what Manafort’s indictment means, note that George Papadopoulos, an advisor in Trump’s campaign, has pled guilty to lying to the FBI about seeking thousands of Hillary Clinton emails from people who had connections with Russian govt. officials. This development is probably more problematic for Trump than Manafort’s indictment.

  2. Now why did he plead guilty? Willing tober he has a deal worked out. Nobody pleads guilty to that.
    Also you’re ignoring the other guy who has cooperated for 3 months and has provided emails and accounts of reaching out to russia. There’s also talk of him being a proactive cooperator which usually means a tap.
    The manafort stuff that came out today is just leverage

    As for pleading guilty to lying to the FBI, people get nailed for this regularly.

  4. and if the FBI used the discredited “Trump dossier” in as fista court, the whole shit load of charges are tossed out the window. I think this is just a scare tactic ,or diversion. I have a feeling Mule=er is going to come under investigation himself.

  5. Actually if you read the details it basically lays out how Trump’s campaign rebuked his repeated attempts to setup meetings with Russian contacts of his. So he basically lied to the FBI saying he had dirt on Trump when in fact he didn’t. Really activates the almonds.

  8. Meh. This is such a nothingburger. Nothing more than run of the mill Tax Evasion (which I estimate is practiced by about 85% of everyone filing a long form … just rarely for THIS kind of $$$). How many Entertainment Stars get busted for non-reporting of millions of their $$ income ? Meh. And as far as Russia is concerned … where else is Manafort going to get PAID $ l0mil./year for … what? exactly … Yeah … Russian Oligarch’s have LOTS of $$$ to spend. When the FBI traces the $$$ back to Putin, I will bother to get up out of my chair. And BTW … didn’t the Clinton Cartel also know this $$$$ about Russian Oligarchs $$$$ (and more likely, Kremlin) $$$$$ ? The Clinton Cartel got BUSTED for taking DIRTY Chinese money … so they simply found another source of DIRTY money … and another way to Launder it.
    The TIMING of this indictment leaves me MORE convinced that the Clinton-cartel is running the Trump investigation. The wires were BUZZING all last week about Clinton and DNC Corruption and Russian collusion … and then … BOOM! goes the indictment! (which could have been issued months ago). I suppose I will get more interested in this “Trump investigation” charade when some other Trump Associate gets their door busted down at 6:00A
    The American people voted for Trump exactly BECAUSE of THIS kind of political Kabuki Theatre CRAP. This is meaningless and irrelevant to the vast majority of the American people who voted FOR TRUMP out of pure political DISGUST … not because Putin told them to. Or they read on the internets that Hillary EATS little children’s livers for breakfast. The SAD part of “the narratives” proffered by the Leftist media and politicos … is that THEY actually start BELIEVING their own BULLSHIT.
    UNTIL this Mueller investigation starts busting down HER door in the middle of the night … the “Investigation” will be tossed onto the rubbish heap of political hatchetjob history.

Manafort is up on tax evasion from activities before the campaign and nothing to do with the campaign and this papapoopoo guy is up on lying to the FBI about dirt he supposedly had on Trump that upon investigation turned out to be a nothingburger. Literally being charged with making up a Russian collusion story!

  11. Funny Business.. The main actions by Manafort occurred when Mueller was Dir of the FBI & Obama was President.. This evidence may have more to do with the Uranium-one corruption by OBAMA…Bury it under the Trump investigation….
    Trump needs to go after Obama and let the Piss-ants, like Hillary, get thrown under the Bus when Black Magic is threatened.. This is all about Obama and large sums of missing money

  12. It doesn’t, but that doesn’t necessarily matter. There’s a strong possibility — not a certainty — that these charges against Manafort are an attempt to squeeze Manafort and others for information that *is* relevant. It could be an opening gambit from Mueller. Papadopoulos’ case probably leads Mueller to believe that there’s more to be learned, and that he needs to put pressure on people in order to make them talk. Which doesn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t a dead end.

  13. No need to speculate on what Papadopoulos lied about. It’s now public knowledge, so there’s no reason to make stuff up. His lie has nothing to do with a claim to have dirt on Trump.
    He lied about when he went to work for Trump, relative to when he started talking to his source about Hillary’s emails. At first he told the FBI that he knew about the dirt on Hillary before he joined the campaign, but that turns out not to have been true.
    Those are the facts on Papadopoulos’ guilty plea.
