  1. So,tell me,oh arbiters of social correctness; is it GOOD or BAD that no Conservative leader has ever appeared in one of the annual “look at me and my mental illness on display to the embarrassment of the gay community” parades?
Gay people who aren’t activists cringe at this display of deviance every year and can’t wait for Pride week to be over.
Liberals are such whores they’d sell their Mother’s teeth for a few votes.

  2. Still trying to find the law that mandates legislators must attend these events.
    The correct response is
“I doubt the event will be cancelled if I’m a no show just like last year and the year before that”

  3. I do not think a Chief of Defence belongs at a Pride parade. These people need to be professional and communicate a focus on defence issues. Instead, this guy is joining the activists and smearing the military with a political message. I think this also undermines his credibility in leadership roles related to countries that do not “celebrate” gayness. If a political person wants to participate, that’s their choice. Military and anyone who needs to display the neutrality required to represent all Canadian interests should not be there.

  4. “I do not think a Chief of Defence belongs at a Pride parade…. If a political person wants to participate, that’s their choice.”
Heh. Now-a-days LindaL, you simply don’t get to be the former unless you are the latter.

  5. “No leader of the Conservative Party of Canada has ever done so.”
Which is one of the many reasons I generally vote Conservative.
One of the numerous free speech topics the bigoted left refuses to engage in is the difference between the concerns of the individual gay and the power plays of the Gay Alphabet Activist Industry. As don morris eluded to, there is often a BIG difference.

  6. True, but they are not supposed to BEHAVE as though they are political people. It really does undermine their credibility as military leaders.

  7. Ha, wish I proofread before posting as well as I do after. That should, of course, be “alluded to”.
Anyways, as this story highlights, political correctness has morphed from a warped ideal into a moral disease.

  8. Pride? Seriously? … Talk about mangling the English language.
Yes Kate … I am enlessesly amused by your musings.

  9. It is said in military circles that he never retreated….but he has often withdrawn and backed up.

  10. I wonder if Trudeau would show up to to a “Christian Pride” March. I wonder if City’s would paint up City buses and cross-walks with Crosses and pictures of Jesus? I wonder if there is any pride left in conservative values? I bet AntiFa would show up?
I wonder how the whole social agenda got so hijacked by transgenders, .08% of the population?
When did it become wrong to be white, when did it become OK for Muslims to rape and kill young white girls?
    WAKE UP people!!

  11. Gay or straight…too much information. As long as all behave, don’t bother other people, mind their own business as to their sexual preferences, obey the laws of the land in all things, they have the same rights and freedoms the Charter stipulates.
A man, or a person with male genitalia, who parades in garish attire with the jewels wrapped in leather makes it difficult to support or sympathize with their cause….if that’s what it is.
Pride is not the word for this…and it’s unfortunate they have adopted the rainbow as their flag and the word “gay” has a whole new meaning…what’s next? What else has to be changed? Has anyone figured out what humanity, society will look like in the coming decades? Will confusion start in kindergarten in our education systems?
A lot of things to consider. One thing for sure vote grabbing, two faced/insincere politicians will never solve any problems, they’ll exacerbate them.

  12. I’ve always considered the gay pride parades as being similar to Mardi Gras parades. It is mostly eroticism but no more tacky than Mardi Gras. Not my thing but if you don’t like it then don’t attend. That is the mature, tolerant response but not attending is where the media and progressives go into full morality police scolding mode.
It is their obsession that you must attend one or you’re branded a homophobic nazi who should be cast out of polite society and your career. As if attending what is really a decadent, hedonistic fun day is the sole declaration of your tolerance. Once again the left is displaying it’s puritan religious nature, in this case public shaming, without even realizing it. Basically it is a secular version of “show up at church or you’re a follower of Satan”. IMO gays are just being used by the usual progressive suspects who’ll discard them once gayness is less valuable in identity politics poker.
In this case Akin was wrong because interim CPC leader Ambrose did attend one last year. Akin half-assed mentioned his mistake.
Has the media criticized any progressive or liberal for not showing up for a free speech rally? No, because…uhmmmmm…”Look, a Nazi free speech absolutist squirrel!!!”

  13. LC Bennett says “OMO gays are just being used by the usual progressive suspects who’ll discard them once gayness is less valuable in identity politics poker”.
Bet your boots on that one but for now they are both happy being mutually used….

  14. Apologize…that LC Bennett quote in my comment should start off with”IMO”…..not OMO!!

  16. Heh.
Maybe they’re ok with being used but they might want to examine what that really means. Partial list: blue collar working class, rural farmers, anti-Asian university entrance standards, children in Rotherham, Jews on campus, etc. All abandoned, betrayed and/or became the enemy of liberals and progressives once they were no longer valued as high as other identity groups.

  18. Where it gets interesting is where do the rainbow gang fall within identity poker, vs Sharia law and the Muslims. Can’t wait for the beer and popcorn!

  19. I think the terrorist attack in Orlando was an indicator. My support is definitely with gays and lesbians. Despite their lack of committment to the civil rights of others, they bring a hell of a lot more enrichment to our culture than the religious nutters.

  20. “I do not think a Chief of Defence belongs at a Pride parade. These people need to be professional and communicate a focus on defence issues. Jamie is right, you do not get to CDS unless you are a Liberal. From my limited experience Colonel and up are political appointments.

  21. That could be, but I still expect some reasonable sense of decorum. They have sullied the uniform in parading around in an event dedicated to sexual fetishes. This is NOT about gay rights. It is a crass public display of hedonism. Any participation by members of the military should have been out of uniform. I wonder how many lower level military personnel are disgusted by this. Shame on General Vance and the other military who attended. This is even insulting to gays in the military, and certainly disrespectful of veterans.

  22. I think it was in “After America” that Mark Steyn said Western civilization was heading toward something between Mad Max and the Wiemar Republic. Based on that get-up, I would say Mad Max is winning.

  23. Not joking. If you look at any area of western art, music, literature, politics entertainment, fashion and science you’ll find gays and lesbians.

  24. “They have sullied the uniform in parading around in an event dedicated to sexual fetishes.”
I fully agree. If I was still wearing the uniform I would disgusted.

  25. Yes, and you’ll also find normal people (even Russians), too.
Let’s stop pretending that without them, the world would fall apart.
Not that pervert parades would highlight that if it were true.
Furthermore, if they have reached European-level fatalism (as Orlando has proven), then they do not need anyone’s sympathy or support.

  26. And now Trudeau has appointed his good buddy Seamus O’Regan to the cabinet as Minister of Veterans Affairs. Another marcher for the parade.
I’m disappointed that there is still no Ministry of Fancy Socks.

  27. Well, there are certainly more than enough Ministries of Silly Walks. They could add that and have a nice rhyme in the name.

  28. Anyone who thinks the chief of the defence staff is not a politician had
better stop leaving cookies out for Santa and seek professional help.

  29. “Anyone who thinks the chief of the defence staff is not a politician had
better stop leaving cookies out for Santa and seek professional help.”
It will be interesting to see where Gen Vance pops up post-retirement. With many of these types – whether a CDS or an RCMP commissioner – it’s all about the next gig.

  30. CreepyClown2.0…you are exactly correct. I now mock the “conservatives” that call me for donations. There are no conservatives in Canadian politics. Only pigs looking for the next trough. It’s embarassing to watch them dance as they are told to dance by the left. No self-respect at all.
    Enjoy the decline.
