The managing editor of CBC’s “The National” was reassigned Wednesday for what the public broadcaster called “an inappropriate, insensitive and frankly unacceptable tweet” he made as part of a controversial debate over cultural appropriation.
In a memo distributed to staff, CBC News editor-in-chief Jennifer McGuire said Steve Ladurantaye will now work on its digital “storytelling strategies” and reach out to indigenous communities “as part of his learning process.”
“As you know, Steve Ladurantaye apologized for his action,” said McGuire in the memo. “He has made it his goal to better understand the appropriation issue from the perspective of Canada’s indigenous people.”
He didn’t apologize. He grovelled.
Kind of like Stalin’s show trials during which the victim had to stand holding up his trousers while admitting his guilt.
Poor bugger…summer at the re-education camp.

I don’t think this issue is doing anything to enhance the reputation of native people — rather it is making them look like belligerent brats. By my count this makes 3 rather prominent writers/editors forced to resign over the latest outrage, something called cultural appropriation. If applied evenly and when did the left even consider such a concept, I don’t see how a writer would be left with anything to write about, except his own narrow experience.
If this concept was applied to CBC itself, how would such classic drama like Little Mosque on the Prairie, North of 60, the dozens of plays recounting the Japanese experience
in wartime Canada, ever be contemplated?
Or how about the CBC plays depicting farm life in Canada, where the males are shown as dimwitted bigots in new plaid shirts? In the 60 or so years I have monitored CBC I have never seen a play that came even close to depicting rural people accurately or sympathetically.

So he bought a house there and just recently sold it(for a hugely inflated price) and bought a place on a nearby island. Same deal there.No bullsh*t bylaws to worry about and none of the other problems.
Now Vancouver wants to curtain the activities of the Vancouver Aquarium. I say shut the whole thing down. let the injured sealife die on the beach, cut down the trees in Stanley Park and build homeless shelters.Thats what the lefties in Vancouver want.
