  1. If the left didn’t have DOUBLE STANDARDS … they’d have NO STANDARDS whatsoever. Come to think of it … they’re all just VILE, WRETCHED, human beings in desperate need of aversion therapy. Averting them from virtually everything they “believe”.

  2. “…journalists, restrained by their dignity…”
Oh my god, did he really say that?

  3. He should be removed from the network and the airways. What he did was not legal. If that was a right wing person they’d be gone.

  4. I remember when Johnson and Nixon were mocked and derided on shows such as the old Laugh-In. This was during the time of the so-called counter-culture, along with the upheaval and unrest that typified the latter 1960s and early ’70s.
The comments were barbed and both men were often skewered by the wit, but there was still some sense of decorum and a respect for the office that they held. There was none of the unabashed vitriol that has become commonplace ever since Trump was elected.
I don’t ever recall anyone on TV calling the morals or intelligence of either president into question. If they did, they would have been quickly yanked off the air.

  5. Don’t care what he says or thinks. He’s just a comedian…an unfunny one at that. He is less intelligent than most people.

  6. Mr. Colbert knows of what he speaks, having spent the last eight years taking Obama’s jimmy as far as possible down his esophagus.

  7. If I were president of CBS, I would remind Colbert that his show reflects on the entire organization.
And if the show continued in this vein, I would do something no matter what the ratings.

  8. Really, who gives a **** about what dickhead says about Dickhead?

  9. Right on, Colbert! Folks, we are Conservatives and Republicans. But this idiot in the WH has to go. He is totally incompetent. Why can’t you see it? Get rid of him and make Pense the President. Trump totally deserved Colbert’s tirade after the way he treated John Dickerson who is probably the politest person on TV. And to hell with showing respect. Trump doesn’t deserve any.

  10. “Folks, we are Conservatives and Republicans”. No, you’re not. It’s evident in your syntax and word usage. Nice attempt at trolling, though, I’m impressed.
This is already the most right of center admin since Reagan and more like Teddy. This budget is still the tailend of the Obama one plus Trump’s already threatened via Twitter. He still has to approve this; it’s only Congress’ idea.

  11. Seriously, the man seems to be mentally unbalanced. If he is indeed sick, maybe he shouldn’t be attacked but he should be removed from office.

  12. Join the 4chan.org/pol brigade’s attempt to get this turd fired. Contact all his advertisers! It must not be a form email, it must be written as if you are a died in the wool SJW and it has to appear to be genuine.

  13. Colbert says/jokes about whatever he thinks he needs to, to get the viewers. He isn’t a principled folk hero, just a comedian with a show. I don’t think it goes any farther than that with him.
This is not project Veritas; this is just some short run late night host.

  14. Hoppsing >
“Seriously, the man seems to be mentally unbalanced…”
Is that why you voted Hillary or Sanders? heh.
“Mentally balanced” or not at least he’s self-made, and has made his mark in History, with comfort and the support of many, many good people around him. Sounds pretty unbalanced.
    The naysayer’s, not so much.

  15. this seems to be regarded as homophobic, which i guess it may be. i can’t get past the fact it just begs for a major punch in the face, and i don’t mean one of those fictional “punch a nazi” memes.

  16. Exactly. For a multi-billionaire in development and real estate he seems pretty balanced to me. At least he isn’t a polished turd with oily snake words like most of the other candidates.

  17. You know how you fit Colbert and three of his buddies on a single barstool?
    Turn it upside down.
Colbert and his leftist cohorts, such as Bill Maher, have devolved into irrational hatemongers driven by extreme groupthink. Especially revealing when a supposed professional who manipulates words for a living can find NONE to articulate his displeasure with Trump as president, relying instead on emotional schoolyard-grade insults.
And no, I have zero doubt that we would be currently witnessing a feeding frenzy of MSM sharks if Colbert were an outspoken Republican.

  18. This clown merely proved that Trump is right about how despicable the media are.

  19. Ken (Kulak)>
Yes indeed, just listen to the useless nobodies in society judge Trumps “mental balance”.
At least we do know they have the “mental balance” to find, even possibly own, a keyboard with an internet connection.
“pound-type, pound-type, that’s sure telling that dumb-ass loser Trump guy off uh, uh dammit”!

  20. “Folks, we are Conservatives and Republicans.”
LOL, like anyone here cannot smell a concern troll a mile away.

  21. Colbert isn’t funny, he is a vile rude sick man. I hope someone takes him down like he is doing to Trump. The elite rich Demorats are running scared the Lobbists will lose their power along with Soros, they are all thugs of the elite rich. ” Go Trump Go”

  22. Colbert knows a lot about being a President’s “Cock Holster/Cum Guzzler.”
    1) That was his Official Title during the Obama Administration for a President named Barry.
    2) For almost a decade, Colbert and John Stewart use to fight over the “Liquid Bullets” that President Obama was shooting out.

  23. John Galt >
    “This clown merely proved that….”
    Nails the problem today!
The “clown” gets a pass on “comedy” while he influences the opinions of millions today. In yesteryear powerful people from Kings to Bishops and other such serious advisors swayed the public while fools & jesters simply entertained.
Today the fools and jesters advise society and become kings amongst the masses of fools.

  24. Someone should punch Colbert in the mouth.
back when men were men, when we lived in saner times, that is what would have happened to Colbert.

  25. You sir, are extremely mistaken to assume that my use of the term ‘clown’ in reference to this self-styled ‘comedian’ was meant in any way to trivialize or condone his despicable actions. In fact that implication is quite offensive.

  26. John Galt >
“In fact that implication is quite offensive.”
I’ll repeat, “Nails the problem today!”
I don’t know what is left of todays society if we continue to interpret other peoples comments even consents the way we seem to do.
I hope to god you were joking – aka /sarc, otherwise………………

  27. And yes I should have included the entire quote, lest be interpreted as trashing the quote…
“This clown merely proved that Trump is right about how despicable the media are”
    Not
    “This clown merely proved that….”
    Me bad, but really.

  28. Trump still has support for my most who voted for him, so I am not sure what you are on about. He often says provocative controversial things, but his governance seems perfectly competent.

  29. Oh BS, DingDong. You’re watching too much Joy Behar and Whooping Goldberg. Those two wrinkled old Jayjays wouldn’t know a dck if it was choking them.
Don’t pretend to be what you are not, it removes all doubt what you are!

  30. Colbert was funny and enjoyable back when Jon Stewart got too political. Used to really enjoy their shows. Very disappointed and to be honest quite sad.

  31. I totally agree with Hoopsing. I do sympathize with people who suffer from dementia and other similar diseases that are age related. Trump’s narcissism included. However he was way out of line when he insulted John Dickerson and the Prez deserves what Colbert gave him. And Colbert is a comedian, not a politician or a journalist. That’s his job.

  32. Steve has a problem.
His problem is how does he top that performance? You can only stoop so low, before you reach the level of slicing babies eyes, or pregnant women…. for a sick joke.
Obviously he’s lost perspective, and won’t last another year.
    You heard it here first.

  33. Sask Watch >
” I do sympathize ……And Colbert is a comedian, not a politician or a journalist”
It’s 2017, and the political left uses comedians as mainstream political propaganda.

  34. The vitriolic hatred of President Trump is as blind and childish and stupid as was the uncritical gushing love for Barack Obama.
Unsurprisingly, for the most part, it comes from the same people.
The bright side is that their inability to understand what has happened will diminish their ability to interfere.

  35. Colbert is a stupid jackass. He is just one more faux intellectual pretending to be a comic and failing at it.

  36. If I were president of CBS, I would remind Colbert that his show reflects on the entire organization.
Indeed it does, and therein lies the problem.

  37. Why not use current ratings? He apparently is doing okay, 2nd in the time slot behind Fallon. But really, who is watching any of the late night shows(11:30 p.m.)? I’m guessing it’s mostly the unemployed and mostly the young.
All of these late night shows, doesn’t matter which, specialize in mocking Trump. It plays to their base audience. Colbert is simply the most egregious of the three (Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert). (Yes, I’ve watched the opening monologues of all three shows on occasion and I’m neither unemployed nor young… so there is that).
I’ve always puzzled on why Colbert was popular. His humor always seems to have a vicious tinge and has always been political. Not my cup of tea. But then I never liked The Daily Show either, and for the same reasons.
What does the number of hits on the Youtube video have to do with anything? The statements from the monologue are all over the internet in print. I believe the hits simply reflect curiosity.
I think the point Kate makes is really an issue. The hypocrisy of the left is egregious.

  38. I am a Progressive Conservative and not a troll. Very much a fiscal conservative (not so much social). As an economist, I was railing against supply management 35 years ago in college. Didn’t win me many friends. I almost always agree with the Fraser Institute. So perhaps many bloggers here are to the right of me. Call me a centre right Republican if you will. But this Trump is a disaster. Steve Bannon getting marginalized is a good sign (if it continues). Hopefully the grown ups in the Cabinet assume more influence. And yes, I am pro trade. Difficult for a Canuck not to be unless you want to cut our standard of living by 30%

  39. @Hopsing:
    “Right on, Colbert!”
“But this Trump is a disaster.”
“I am a Progressive Conservative and not a troll.”
Anyone who can a) approve and applaud the course and obscene comments of Colbert and b) who alleges someone is a disaster without stating any actual basis for the allegation and c) who pretends an oxymoron such as “progressive conservative” is meaningful…..
is a TROLL or a moron! Choose your label “hopsing” …. personally I’m going with “you’re a moron”.
