  1. Those aren’t backdoors. They’re bog standard malware developed by the NSA to attack foreign systems.

  2. I’m aware of that Daniel. It’s an example of the most secret of gov’t organizations being able to keep a secret…like an unpublished backdoor into an OS.

  3. Just a sales pitch for windoze 10, do yourself a favour and use linux/unix.
Exactly. Most of my machines run either Linux or FreeBSD, largely because they are open-source and I can customize the installations to suit my needs.
Most computers run a version of Windoze and, so, it would be easy to scare a lot of people by announcing that their OS can be easily hacked. It’s like going to a service station and someone squirts a bit of oil on the ground right beside a tire on one’s car in order to dupe them into buying some new shock absorbers.

  4. Some of my online machines use Linux, but it’s clumsy as compared with win7. My offline office machine runs win98; it’s bulletproof and reliable. If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it.

  5. I have several machines that run FreeBSD 11 with Mate as the desktop. That OS blows the doors off Windoze.

  6. I’m no computer expert but I have always believed that if the government wanted to install spyware in our computers , the easiest way would be to ask Microsoft to hide it inside an ” update “.
when those update start, they take control of my computer, whatever I was doing is stopped…I have even lost text I had typed in word documents.
I have never fully trusted those updates.

    THIS IS WHY ….
I switched to Apple six years ago … after twenty years of struggling with DOS and Window machines, … I wised up. Unix is a real foundation to an OS …. DOS … not so much.
Windows = Old Harley to leaking oils and needs fixed all the time.
Apple OS = Safe and reliable like a new Subaru ….
There may be better analogies, but you get the point.
Not that I particularly like the Apple folks … they are mostly whacked out liberals trapped in their failed Ideology ….

  8. Lance,
Guilt doesn’t work on me. I am aware that there are some horrid work-place conditions in China. However, that is a problem for the Chinese. I can’t do anything about it.
I will not continue to make my life miserable and insecure by continuing to use the oil-leaking, clanky Harley of Computers to alleviate my guilt over what Chinese are doing to Chinese in a pismire culture … That’s just not on.
Many other counties went through times of worker abuse and despair, until they got up on their hind legs and did something about it …. as only they can!
I do not wish to make the injustices of the world my personal problems. That is a recipe for insanity or worse, ‘progressivism’.
    Cheers

  9. Further, and I hope I am not being too obnoxious here … You might want to check out Bill Gates and his relationship to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Warren Buffet and others.
Those are the progressive, globalists that would have us in sweatshops too.
    Happy Easter Monday.
