Reader Adrian, via email;
I’m sure that the far away place called Europe and the troubles of socialism are not top of the billing, however in just a small move to show just how pernicious is the EU. This piece might make you wonder about just who is working on behalf of your nation when it comes to dealing with agendas of the EU.

Trade agreements, other than with the US do not work. We do not manufacture anything and they want to protect their agriculture. Nobody wants our coal and local communists keep our oil away from tidewater. I suspect big tariffs walls do as much for the Canadian economy as anything.
In the End and in about 10-15 years….the only stamp you will need to ship meat (Beef only of course), will be a star and crescent with the words HALAL stamped on the label….pork just aint gonna happen.
Screw the EU…and as far as CETA goes….why did we even bother..??
Classic Liberal Giveaway….bowing as they back out of the conference room.
Yes massa..
Remember that the officials making these deals on behalf of Canada are not businessmen…they are bureaucrats. And being Canada, they may not even have had to be the best in their class…just fluently bilingual (that’s how people in the civil service and the military are promoted past a certain rank).
If this is the CETA deal Freeland was crying about after “walking out of negotiations” then God help us when Canada renegotiates NAFTA.
Can’t we just dispatch chrystia freeland to fix this?
For those of you who have short term memories it was the Harper gov that pushed this ,set it up , did all the leg work to make it happen the liberals just signed off on it.
Harper for all the good he could have done …failed in alot of ways his incrementalism did not work. he banned incandescent light bulbs, …i voted for him both times because he is intelligent but he is also a globalist and he wanted to put Canada on the global trade we are an exporting nation i get that but if we are gonna lose our shirts just to be able to play in the big boy sand box ….is it really worth it? in the end i think Canadians will get soaked, fleeced again…like we do every time. liberal , conservative…is there a difference in Canada anymore?
I think the kicking we take in agricultural trade is so multimillionaire, largely Quebec, dairy farmers can continue selling dairy products at twice what they’re worth without competition. Hog farmers take it up the rear to protect these millionaires. You don’t think our trading partners let us keep our marketing systems in place without a cost.
Harper for all the good he could have done … he banned incandescent light bulbs
Well it didn’t work; I could then and still can buy incandescent light bulbs that were NOT banned. Harper did a lot of things but banning all incandescent light bulbs was not one of them.
The only EU import I give a damn about are British loudspeakers. Always been BEST IN THE WORLD ! So as soon as the Parliment gets on with the BREXIT already … I will be exchanging my US legal tender for a sweet set of ATC SCM100’s
http://atcloudspeakers.co.uk/hi-fi/loudspeakers/classic-series/scm100/
Harper did work on this file for years.
The libranos did finish the job though and bragged about it. Their toughest man crystia freeland completed the negotiating and came home in tears at one point proving her ineptitude for the task.
If the deal was so bad why didn’t bongo simply rip it up like he did with everything else Harper did?
JOHN GALT
In case you missed it.

I bought a whole case of mixed incandescent bulbs. They will outlast me.
Anyone may order incandescent bulbs on-line.. 100 watt, 150 watt… ETC
a 10 Billion business opportunity (void) is filled rapidly

In case you missed it, the “ban” didn’t work. Harper didn’t “ban” anything. Got it now?
Paul is not very smart.
Dont care if it worked. the harper govenment banned the incandescent light bulbs at least they tried to they were touting it in 2007 and pushed it through …you maybe able to buy them online ect ect but the fact remains that they pushed it through why is beyond me…can you go to your local grocery store and buy a pack of 100watt incandescent light bulbs?
The so-called “light-bulb ban” was a symbolic and largely ineffectual gesture by the Harper gvt to appease the greentards. Nobody who wanted to continue using incandescent bulbs was prevented from finding them to purchase. People can now choose incandescent, LED or CFD lights as they prefer.

a different type of fake news
I just saw on tv news that there were record cold temperatures in quebec city in the last 2 days.
the words ” climate change” and ” global warming” or ” man made ” were 100% absent from these tv reports.
as soon as we have a warmer than usual day those words will be mentioned half a dozen times in a 30 second report.
the fact those words are only mentioned when it helps liberals have us believe that we are making the planet has a dangerous fever ( and we must be punished trough taxes )makes it obvious the media is paid by liberals to do pro-left and anti-right propaganda.
and propaganda is not really news, it is fake news.
the last time it was that cold in quebec city was back in 1972.
Nme666 is the most bitter human I have ever met. Just a full on dark cloud of negativity and hatred . That is no way to live your life nme . I’m not sure why but you always have negative attacks on people in here most of the time . It’s not nice.
It’s the job of AGW proponents to try to disprove their theory a/p the scientific method, not skeptics. AGW types are supposed to be the skeptical ones.
But they’re not. They just declared one day “it’s settled science. They never bothered but expect others to disprove their falsifiable theory.
I know: they sky is falling eh?
The UnoMe’s of the world sacrifice us all to progressivist failure and big government climate change rent seeking in the same of pure laine conservatism.
Get it straight, anything to right of Harper is unelectable. Face facts including your assumption all who disagree with you are idiots.
I personally think you are projecting.
Ca’nada: old Wyandot word meaning, “Always screwed by Europeans”.
Aha, so boy wonder created a NOT-FREE-RADE deal. This is a fine example of multi-national bureaucracy creep.
Fortunately, the EU is unsustainable.
Agreed. Like many conservatives he confused a modern trade deal with free trade when, in fact, they are managed trade deals that actually restrict market access to those large enough to benefit from the regulations and bureaucracy.
If they were free trade deals, there would be no restrictions, regulations and limitations.
we have too much government and not enough freedom.
The interesting thing about free trade that it is not.
You wanna free trade, trade.
Don’t put duties, tariffs and other such other inhibitors on trade.
It is remarkable to note that Trump actually wants free trade. The problem is that those countries that put inhibitors on free trade with the US basically say, free trade for us, no free trade for you.
You can say free trade Nazis.
Heh.
But we still take your horse meat. No questions asked. All fine as long as our domestic horses come with their up-to-date medical treatment journal to their slaughterhouse appointment.
I’d say, just wait a little for a new deal to come. The EU will change in many regards in the near future and so will the regulations.
First now there is an increase to happen in dairy and meat prices for the consumer.
Only a moron, except possibly a brain addled “conservative” aka with a personal axe to grind against Harper, would term his regime left of Chretien’s.
Then again, your ignorance appears to have no bounds, demonstrated with your non-comprehension of how to validate a scientific theory:
“Popper’s idea about doing science is that you FORMULATE A HYPOTHESIS, TRY TO PROVE IT WRONG and, from your results, formulate a new hypothesis. Why not try to prove it right? Because you can’t; you never know if there isn’t one more experiment that will prove it wrong. As a trivial example, let’s say your hypothesis is that all the balls in the can are white. You pull one out and it is white. Have you proved your hypothesis? No, you just have not disproved it. However, if you pull out a pink one, you do know your hypothesis is wrong. Of course, you can take all the balls out of the can but you can’t do all the possible experiments on a scientific topic. This is called the METHOD OF FALSIFICATION.”
Then again as one who engages in self centred and satisfied assumptions, your miss on this – the idea of testing belief – is understandable.
