That was a deep analysis of something. Nothing to do with what the Bush girls did but I guess you needed to be heard.
I suspect the Obama children will follow their parents’ model and go down the pop-culture celebrity path, maybe their professional image consultants will hook them up for charity photo-ops.
Why bother Affirmative Action will ensure they always have a leg up, just ask Obamba.
Unlike most political elites who pass on privilege to their children, they get a double bonus without ever doing a thing. If they learned French and moved to Canada they could be crowned as living gods.
So how did this “letter” come to be public knowledge and published in time magazine? Yeah, if they wanted to send a private letter they could have. Instead they published their letter. A bit like someone who won’t shut up about their donation to charity. Was it to help someone or was it for story telling and ego gratification? Trying to make nice with Meryl Streep et al? Nothing wrong with either I suppose, just don’t piss on my leg…
I really used to think the Bush’s were classy, but a lot of this is starting to seem a bit contrived. Particularly after seeing their lack of class re: Trump. Republican/Democrat it was all a long line of a slight tilt one way or another of milking the taxpayer.
Maybe things will be different with Trump. Maybe. Maybe I’m just becoming too much of a political pessimist to take anything at face value anymore.
The Bush girls were hounded by the press … portrayed as frivolous party-girl drunks. The Obama girls … revered by the press and fawned-over. The Obama girls farted peppermint kisses.
Of course this is a nice heartfelt letter from a very classy young woman. A letter that transcends politics and is quite personal. But I would f-e-e-l much better about it … IF … it were left PRIVATE … personal. It would retain all of its original intent … IF … it were left PRIVATE and personal. But, no, it is splashed out in some failed leftist rag that is obviously on some sort of “unnatural” economic life support. Some sort of “heroic” economic resuscitation measures being wasted on that rag.
Because this personal letter was splashed out into the public … I am completely numb to it. It IS now POLITICAL. It IS nothing more than a cynical olive branch handed to the daughters of the next Sec. General of the UN. A cynical public display of affection in hope of returned (economic) affection.

Yes the Bush girls were exploited by the progressives in an effort to denigrate their father. Why the positive twist now? Simple, the Bush’s came out against Trump. The media is all about limiting and downgrading whatever Trump tries.
I wasn’t there. I assume that there was a bond established between the two sets of sisters eight years ago. This letter is to encourage the friendship to develop and to encourage the Obama sisters to do well and prosper personally (not necessarily materially). George W personally wrote a letter to the family of each fallen soldier during his time in office, so no need to think there is anything artificial or insincere in his daughters’ writing a letter.
As far as it being made public, there are many possible reasons or benefits; none impinges on the reasons above. Basically they are taking the initiative in civil discourse between Democrats and conservatives and modelling behaviour for both sides.
