Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Watching this, all I could think of was that Bill Whittle looked CGI.
Also, digital fingerprinting for video and audio already exists; like cryptopgraphic email signing, though, it’s not widely used or understood.
Also https://facerig.com/ has been a thing for a long time.
Scary, this could make PMJT look like he is saying something sensible!
This is the technology I read about 15 years ago that the Hollywood stars were worried would eventually put their neurotic asses on the unemployment line.
And THAT is a helluva good idea,no more snarky a$$holes demanding everything from soup to cocaine on a movie set, driving the “little people” such as assistant directors to distraction.
I’d love to see the Old Stars back alive via pixel wizardry, the guys who served in the military in WW2 and had some real character, instead of the f***ing pansies with their drama degrees pretending to be real people, when they never were and never will be.
Just for the hell of it, someone should post Putin declaring that the entire Arctic from mainland Canada to Santa’s workshop is now Russian territory, just to see how our PM reacts.
“…digital fingerprinting for video and audio already exists; like cryptopgraphic email signing, though, it’s not widely … understood.”
That’ a crucial thing to keep in mind. Most of aren’t able and won’t become able to authenticate much of what is presented to us and therefore should maintain a healthy scepticism.
Justeen would load his “pull ups”
This just makes conservatives look and sound like a bunch of old, laughably out-of-touch guys.
“Why, with this technology, anyone could impersonate anyone else, and there would be no possible way to know!
“Therefore, all news is fake news.”
“Why, with this technology, anyone could impersonate anyone else, and there would be no possible way to know!”
Which would be 100% correct, and an important thing to keep in mind. Various news agencies in southeast Asia already use (crude) CGI for “dramatic reenactments” of real politicians, and we know that the mainstream US news agencies have been faking news reports for a long time.
we have already reached the point where we can’t believe anything we see.
Our own technology is slowly destroying us.
Part of me loves modern technology and is fascinated by it, but part of me realizes it has some very bad consequences.
The day most jobs will be done by robots and computers , what will we do with those millions of people? not to mention those millions of immigrants and refugees?
The day it will be impossible to tell if a video shown on the 6 o’clock news is real or made by a computer, how will we know who is telling the truth?
Anyone will be able to make a video of anyone admitting to a crime, even though in reality you never committed the crime and certainly never admitted anything.
The police will have a video of a criminal doing something, the criminal and his lawyer will have a video of him doing something else – with 20 witnesses – a thousand miles away – like sitting ina football stadium- in another city.
Politicians will have videos of their opponent having sex with children and the video will look real, how will the masses be able to tell what is what?
We already have fake news, imagine what it will be in 10 or 20 years…
