God I’m so sick of the media arseholes still lamenting Trump’s win…everything that’s been wrong with America all through Obama’s reign never mentioned. Did Obama the Democrat do anything on the pipeline? Did Hillary promise to allow it? I think the “deplorables” have come out in droves and showed the elites and the celebrities who don’t know their asses from page four where the bear pooped in the buckwheat and they can’t get over it, their idea of democracy failed them,the little people were not bought.

There’s one thing most of you have missed. Trump got 59 million votes. That’s less than the 61 million votes Romney got or the 60 million McCain got in 2008. What happened was simple: a huge number of Democrat voters stayed home. Why did they stay home? That’s the question.

Tried not to rub it in today as I had let it be known weeks ago I thought Trump would win the election. What I’ve noticed today is that very few people go out of their way to search for information. Today I heard regurgited MSM viewpoints over and over again and only about 1/10 people have strayed from the MSM to look things up on their own. When I’d mention wikileaks of the Podesta emails or the corruption of the Clinton foundation, I’d get blank looks but, when I found someone who had read portions of them, they were glad that the Hildabeast hadn’t succeeded.
What has happened is a huge rejection of the self-styled “elites” who are looked on as fondly as the French aristocracy before the French revolution. Being a lifelong redneck, I’ve never been comfortable interacting with the “elites” in Vancouver and would rather be in a country bar having a few beer with the locals. Conversation with the “elites” was incredibly boring and I’d often get told to “stop talking shop” when I was with physicians. Not having any exposure to the MSM and having no clue who various “famous” actors are (Clint Eastwood doesn’t seem to belong to that group) I’d just sit around quietly and drink wine. I’ve had far more interesting conversations with my plumber or the garage door repairman who seemed very happy I was interested in the subject and I learned a surprising amount of information about the latest advances in garage door systems. I’d get kicked by my wife sometimes when I’d say what I really thought about the latest advances in colonic irrigation treatments, acupuncture and aura realignment therapies.
Nassim Taleb had a great post on ZH today about the class of “intellectuals yet idiots” (IYI) which describes the majority of the “elites” (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-11-09/nassim-taleb-explains-who-just-got-buried). Reading Taleb’s The Black Swan prompted me to read all of his subsequent books and he’s, IMHO, one of the most insightfull thinkers to come along in decades. While Mandelbrot discovered the fractal nature of financial time series, Taleb put the math into practice with his hedge fund making $1 billion in a single day some years ago. Despite having the financial credentials to be one of the “elite”, he has nothing but disdain for the members of IYI.
The “elites” constantly reassure each other that they are truly superior to the deplorables and, not having any contrary opinions in their “select” company, they assume it must be right. They try to insulate themselves from reality as much as possible and, when unwanted reality intrudes in their lives, it’s always someone elses fault and not that their belief system is fatally flawed. It’s not surprising that Silicon Valley billionaires have drunk of this koolaid as they live primarily in a virtual world. It’s so easy to create virtual realities with the processing power currently available to them that they mistake this for physical reality. They would never think of taking the red pill and are happy to take the blue pill and assume that everything is perfect.
It used to be that people would have direct interactions with physical reality on a daily basis but now too many choose to ignore those aspects of reality they consider unpleasant and surround themselves with equally blinkered individuals in their “safe spaces”. One can only hope that their virtual realities will be replaced by raw external realities which won’t go away regardless of how much they try to wish it away.
Really noticing the effects of the late celebratory glass of wine that I couldn’t have last night when I was on call so will stop here.

Neither the figures from Michigan nor Arizona are in yet. I watched the election on 3 networks.
As soon as the polls closed on the Left coast, Wash/Oregon/Cali were given to Clinton without even counting 1% of the votes in those states. I think that the numbers we have today will be different 1 year from now.
Trump still leads in Arizona and Michigan. His electoral vote total will be 306 when it’s all done.

What it shows is that whatever happened in the solidly Red or Blue states, something indeed moved significantly in all the battleground states.
It’s also worth nothing that Trump had to deal with two third party candidates. It’s reasonable to speculate that they took mostly Red votes, not Blue votes.
