I recently spoke to an ex-politician, a Liberal at that, who told me he sends money to his 80-year-old mother every month because she can’t afford to pay her energy bills.
She and her husband spent their lives working and paying taxes and this is the position the government has put her in.

I don’t believe that the worst fallout from Trudeau’s plan will be the rising cost of energy as much as the economic disadvantage it will be creating for the whole of Canada.
China, India, Pakistan, Russia etc. etc. are not concerned with carbon dioxide in their atmosphere. They’re in the same situation we were in during the post WWII era when industry and government worked together to produce more energy than we could possibly consume, the only way that prices could be kept down. That was how we were competitive with the industrial nations such as Britain, the USA and Germany.
Canada can’t build cars, washing machines and cotton overalls on 15 cent a kilowatt electricity. Up until recently, Canada was at 10 cents per KW, China, India and Pakistan at 8 cents, that kept us in the ball park. They also have a huge advantage in that they have a surplus of manual and skilled laborers (who don’t need dental plans, free golfing on weekends, and music in the washrooms.) Fuel prices for overland and maritime transport are relevant to world oil prices, thus if they overlook their emission standards, they can create an advantage for themselves.
And all along–the Carbon tax is there to combat their emissions, and not ours. What an intellectual we have in Justin!!

This is why we need single term limits – to eliminate the professional politician. Better still, why not eliminate elections (and Parties) and randomly draw reluctant citizens to temporarily hold office. Most who choose to run for office should be disqualified for that reason alone. They want the power over other’s lives (a reprehensible pathology). Progressives entering office, having inherited the legacy of enactment of all of their predecessors wish lists, must push the envelope while defending the status quo to get elected. This mostly involves offering more free stuff and ignoring who pays (the unborn, of course) but also includes the planks of global green theocracy which is no more scientifically founded than those of the inquisitors before them. Would a Parliament of citizens, beholden to no electorate not question the status quo bankrupt welfare state, a leviathan of mostly needless Ministries and bureaucrats. They would feel no need to “push the envelope” but instead, being comprised of ordinary people unbeholden to political media pressure, might focus on balancing a budget, questioning all departments function, looking into the science or lack thereof of CAGW, you know, the mundane business of what governance should be.
How do you “argue the science” of global warming when the government pays for all the “research” and the numbers are phony? I think people need to hear that all this phony-baloney green stuff is going to cost them a ton of money. Of course they will never hear that from the scumbag media. When the blackouts inevitably come, people need to hear the real reason why:

I doubt Liberals would see it as laughing at people in energy poverty who are victims of progressive environmental policies. I suspect they do actually believe they are saving the climate by applying a new tax on people heating their homes and driving to work. Of course, they have no idea or refuse to share their data on negative impacts and temperature benefits. The majority of Liberal MP’s are likely ignorant about how high the financial costs are to families, workers and how minuscule the temperature benefits. Presumably, because of that, they will go to great lengths to remain ignorant. Ditto for the majority of the media.

Canada, at 2% of MM CO2 emissions could perhaps reduce the temperatures by 2% of .3 degrees Farenheight or approx. .006 degrees F. The “hurt the poor” argument is a very sound one, especially given that carbon taxes do NOT reduce pollution or conserve the environment in any way, shape or form. There is a reason why Australia and Norway thought twice about this government money grab.
And no reputable scientist worth his salt would say that carbon or carbon dioxide are pollutants, certainly not the way heavy metals leaking into arable land are (oh, hi, China).
As for the upper crust argument, it reminds me of a picture I saw on zerohedge about modern feudalism vs. Medieval feudalism. Not saying it’s entirely true but I certainly think people may believe there’s some humourous truth in it.

How soon we forget or ignore the fact that ADAPTATION is what got us to where we are today.
We have adapted to the weather and climate around us by building structures that allow us to live and work in comfort under conditions that would otherwise kill us. (how long would you survive living outside in -20 weather?) We get that and worse almost every winter.
We have adapted the wagon trails of old to four lane highways and railway networks where we can comfortably, safely and efficiently move people and goods wherever they need to travel. Try to imagine todays populace trying to live without this infrastructure.
We have adapted by building sources of cheap, reliable and efficient energy providers for our living and working needs. Don’t believe me? Just think of the panic that would ensue if the electrical grid went down, or gasoline suddenly was not available. Yet some would have us rely in wind generated or solar power that could fail anytime, especially when it is most needed.
We have adapted by upgrading radio, telegraph, telephone and mail systems
with todays internet that allows us to share the best and worst of humanity.
I could go on, but my point is – lets continue adapting to conditions that arise rather than trying futile methods to ‘change climate’.
