  1. First we were treated to musical selections from American Gigilo…is it safe to guess that we are on to The Big Chill soundtrack?! One of my favs from the 80’s

  2. Paris (AFP) – The main driver of wildlife extinction is not climate change but humanity’s rapacious harvesting of species for food and trophies, along with our ever-expanding agricultural footprint, said researchers pleading for a reset of conservation priorities.
In an analysis of nearly 9,000 “threatened” or “near-threatened” species, the scientists found that three-quarters are being over-exploited for commerce, recreation or subsistence.
Demand for meat and body parts, for example, have driven the Western gorilla and Chinese pangolin to near extinction, and pushed the Sumatran rhinoceros — prized in China for bogus medicines made from its horn — over the edge.
And more than half of the 8,688 species of animals and plants evaluated are suffering due to the conversion of their natural habitats into industrial farms and plantations, mainly to raise livestock and grow commodity crops for fuel or food.
By comparison, only 19 percent of these species are currently affected by climate change, they reported in a study published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature.

  3. “Life, Or a Way of Life? France cancels public events over terrorism concerns.” -Theodore Dalrymple
“One of the aims of terrorists is to alter the way of life of the country in which they live and kill: to sow fear,
mistrust, and timidity. In this regard, they have just scored an important victory in France.
For hundreds of years (dating back to the twelfth century, in fact), the city of Lille has held an annual jumble-sale,
or flea market. Last year, 2.5 million people attended, and 10,000 sellers participated, coming from a radius of 60 miles.
This year, for the first time since the Second World War, Lille has cancelled the event because of security concerns.
The cancellation is striking because it does not reflect a lack of effort: five times as many policemen as usual were
to have been deployed; concrete barriers were erected around the market-stall area to prevent the entry of booby-trapped
vehicles; police marksmen were to have stood on many of the surrounding rooftops; helicopters were to have kept the
whole area under constant surveillance. But in the end, the mayor of Lille, Martine Aubry, once a contender for the
leadership of the Socialist Party that now governs France, reluctantly concluded that it was not enough, that security
    could not be guaranteed. …”

Here is what is really at stake. Civilization, itself.
Waiting for leaders who will fight for it…

  4. What will or can the Liberal government of Canada do to keep us safe from terror attacks? All it takes is one screwed up creep to go off the rails, a so-called “lone wolf” or “home grown” bit of messed up scum to kill and maim many innocent people. Canada’s Trudeau Charter has all the loopholes in place to allow such slugs of humanity to prepare to kill and terrorize. Freedoms include freedom of religion and we know Driver converted to Islam and went on to become what’s being called “radicalized”, is this not a common thread on the road to becoming radicalized and a murderer? We dare not blame the so-called religion of peace or the Imams conducting the Mosques. We have no right to interfere.
Waiting to hear the bravado from our shirtless wonder, Goodale hasn’t allayed any fears.

  5. Internal revolt brewing at the DoJ over Clinton favourtism?
    ————————————-
Multiple FBI investigations are underway involving potential corruption charges against the Clinton Foundation, according to a former senior law enforcement official.
The reliance on U.S. attorneys would be a significant departure from the centralized manner in which the FBI managed the investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server and email addresses.

  6. I think the intelligence of a people is reflected in those they choose to represent them in government at all levels. IMO Ontario has the record for less than basic intelligence , in fact they’re stunned stupid and are a big part of the reason we have a celebrity seeker for Prime Minister. We know Wynne’s decision to campaign with the Shiny one during the federal election was beyond crass, it was a disgraceful interference in our democratic process, she was totally out of order.

  7. In my view, Canada is not in good shape to deal with the treacherous world that is unfolding. Our leader is not competent to deal with serious issues. He is a figure head. So exactly who is running the government? Who do we need to hold accountable for dealing with serious issues such as radicalization, terrorism and a weakening economy?

  8. “Who do we need to hold accountable for dealing with serious issues such as radicalization, terrorism and a weakening economy?”
Not to worry. We have zero ability to hold any of them accountable.
Therefore, knowing the name of the puppeteer is irrelevant.
Just take care of yourself and yours. And be sure to trust in God, who will provide.

  9. @chris c:
Sorry chris. It would indeed be news if true but Mr. Turner does not have credibility…..
I am reminded of a certain CBS news anchor in the not too distant past who tried something similar to characterize a certain U.S. president. He too had a document. I’d RATHER not tell you his name.

  10. Holding a politician accountable? What a concept!
Of course it’ll never happen here in Canada. We clearly see that at the federal level. PM Buttshead, who was never elected to office in the last election, is really running the country, using his buddy, the Clown Prince, to divert the public’s attention.
Then there’s all those “consultations” with the sheeple, I mean, public. The politicians solicit comments and ideas and then go ahead and do whatever they like anyway. If there’s objection, they simply trot out the lame excuse that they’re simply acting on the “advice” they were given. Of course, they don’t have to act directly on that information. In fact, they could use the results of those sessions to confirm that doing the opposite was what they wanted to do all along.
Then again, if voters really cared about accountability, would they have elected the current gang of idiots to office?
