They seem to favour globalism and urge support for the Democrats. The idea is “welcome” vs. “keep out” — with a graphic of happy people on the welcome side shaking hands (no beheadings evident!) I am pretty sure this is a planted article (by the folks who try to use the news to control the narrative) Interestingly, their example of a global leader who is on the right side of this divide is Justin Trudeau. Well, they are right about which side he is on (globalism), but this is not exactly the side that most people think is the correct side as is indicated by many of the comments. When I checked, a lot of the comments were absolutely scathing, some people announcing threat they had dropped the Economist or planned to do so. The Economist has offered up a simplistic and manipulative assessment of a pressing political issue. Justin is the poster boy. I hope Canadians are smarter than that.
Is anyone getting any sense that we are getting close to stopping terrorists from exacting their horrors of brutality and death on innocent people around the globe? Sure, sounds good to hear leaders say they will not win, we will not live our lives in fear. All we are doing is the same old, same old, bringing more Islamist bastards into our Western democracies and reacting with prayers and sympathy for their victims after each attack. So, who is winning? Not the people who died horrible deaths at the hands of these monsters in the name of Islam.
Meanwhile these scum of humanity are laughing, they don’t mind dying, they’ve been convinced paradise is their reward. We have so much technology now to spy on and investigate but are not doing it. We need to go into their dens and clear them out wherever they live or we are never going to end this scourge of humanity.
It’s amazing we’ve survived so long and with the present day attitudes we would never have world two world wars. We need to ferret out the rats. Personal freedoms and privacy are important to all of us perhaps we need to take stricter measures with those who do not share our values.If not, prepare for endless horrors as they are among us and around us with the same privileges and freedoms we have. They are using those freedoms against us and all we stand for.
I am currently on vacation in Kauai … the Garden Island … and swam at our favorite beach with a nice family from Paris (they all spoke beautiful English … much better than my broken French). They had redirected their summer holiday from Nice to Hawaii … for obvious reasons. Their two kids splashed carefree in the warm Hawaiian waters, with no fear except from afternoon rain showers

Actually soldiers and police armed with automatic weapons have been a fixture on the streets of France and Italy as long as I’ve been going there. (28 years) It’s the biggest culture shock I had on my first trip.

But if you want to switch the conversation to results, you have to admit that Hiroshima and Nagasaki sure as hell brought WWII to a grinding halt.
The Germans chose the method of warfare that the Allies employed. Check civilian deaths in the bombings of Warsaw, Leningrad, Stalingrad and Kharkov. Then there’s Coventry, London, Rotterdam. Oh and all the villages put to the torch in Yugoslavia, Greece, France, Poland and Ukraine. And no, this doesn’t include the Holocaust in the death camps.

And actually saved hundreds of thousands of lives. The Japanese were prepared to fight to the bitter end, and the casualties from trying to invade Japan would have been immense. My paternal Grandfather (born in Bath) immigrated from London to the city of my birth, Los Angeles, sometime around 1910. My mother’s ancestors were Scots (Ferguson). I have always longed to go to England to personally trace my roots.
I have, from afar, watched in abject horror to what England has become over the years. I now know I will never go there. I will die without this dream being fulfilled.
Now here comes a musloid mayor. London is fallen, indeed. I have read, in more than one place, that in the past two decades over 750,000 white Brits have fled London in their own version of “White Flight”. Guess the curry and kebobs weren’t all that much of a draw.
