  1. What about those companies that deal with secure or sensitive material? Shouldn’t they have the right to find out whether their potential employees are trustworthy?

  2. Politicians hate being discriminated against. Without such laws, politicians would have a much harder time blending-in or finding work after politics.

  3. There are patterns to the behavior of those who seek to become dictators and one of the things that every well-heeled dictator wannabe needs is to acquire a private army personally loyal to him. Besides loyalty, the other primary characteristic that the private army must possess is that it must be composed of individuals who are societal parasites and feel no twinge of conscience when physically or materially injuring others. Typically, the best place to find a sufficient quantity of such individuals is amongst low-level street criminals. So promoting street crime serves the wannabe dictator both as an expansion of the “talent pool” from which to recruit his private army and as a way to make the general populace feel insecure enough to accept a dramatic expansion of police powers and presence.
Everything Obama has done since becoming President is consist with the actions of a man whose ambition is to become dictator although even reliable proponents of freedom and constitutionalism are reluctant to point this out, preferring instead to ascribe Obama’s actions to racial payback, concern for legacy, incompetence, or simple corruption.
Regarding street crime, Obama has promoted hostility toward local police, used the DOJ to negatively interfere in local law enforcement efforts and persecute officers just trying to do their jobs, used the DHS and the Border patrol to facilitate the importation of large numbers of foreigners without vetting them for criminal or terrorist backgrounds, and he has released tens of thousands of convicted criminals from prison back onto America’s streets. All of these things are meant to increase street crime and create a sense of gratitude on the part of the criminals toward Obama. Then the Professional Left began its “ban the box” effort to allow the government to hire convicts into government jobs. It doesn’t take a genius to see that such an effort, if successful, would allow Obama or anyone else in government with dictatorial ambitions to surround himself with an army of criminal scum whose loyalty has been purchased with patronage positions.
Glad to see the LA city council is considering extending the insanity into the private sector. Coupled with the $15/hr. minimum wage, this new measure would ensure an economic renaissance in LA.

  4. I was born in Chicago. I believe that both the Cook county and Chicago governments have such a box, although it is used differently: if you check it, you get the job.

  5. I am surprised to hear there are any ex-cons applying for jobs in private enterprise … because the criminals are already all working for the government

  6. If I have a business within the city limits of Los Angeles, I will be conducting interviewing and hiring outside the city boundary. Although I do live in the city of Los Angeles, I don’t have any business in it.

  7. Read this story. It’s short and from a former career diplomat that had the misfortune to serve some of his time under the Lizard Queen’s tenure at State (he depises her).
It will restore your faith in the Silent Majority of us Californians that hate our state and local governments.

His blog is a must read. He’s a good writer, clear, concise and level-headed. I just wish he would post more often than he does (usually only once a week).

  8. Problem for LA is that all illegal immigration is a crime, wiping out most of the Liberal elites domestic slaves if anyone cared to follow the law. Which of course they don’t, so it becomes a vicious catch-22.
