Mulcaring

He gave his life for multiculturalism;

“(The niqab) hurt us terribly … I can share with you that the polling we did showed we dropped over 20 points in 48 hours here in Quebec because of the strong stand I took on the niqab.”
Even in this admission, Mulcair made it sound as if he had stood up for Rosa Parks, not a Pakistani immigrant telling Canadians how we need to change our laws to accommodate her.

  1. Doubtful. The LPC took many seats from the NDP in Quebec and they had they same position on the nikab as the NDP.

  2. Too true. I also agree with Dean Skoreyko that the NDP lost by fighting the Conservatives and not the Liberals their real electoral competitors.
Back to a permanent 15% as the 3rd Party from now on, I’m guessing.

  3. From the article:

Like ostriches, and similar to left wing parties around the globe, the New Democrats simply wanted to stay away from any culture war involving Islamists.
Islamism has become the new “holy cow” for the left.
No criticism of anything related to Islamic sharia is permitted, as if such discourse itself is blasphemy.

Is the left terrified of Islam? Or do are they just on the other side?

  5. The socialists don’t know Right from Wrong… They are now playing the “Bernie” Card without considering the consequences….Total BS crap that would have 300 million Americans on food stamps. No manufacturing or wealth generating industry….recycling Gov’t money with a 30% loss with each pass… requiring the FED’s to print more & more Money. Total disaster in 90 days
Social justice has no known Principles. They are wandering into the unknown wilderness

  6. Meanwhile back in Britain they’re starting to come to grips with ‘multiculturalism’. This gives a whole new meaning to ‘Our strength is in our diversity.”, and “A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.” not to mention that we have to be accepting our new immigrants ‘customs’.

  7. The original orange wave had nothing to do with the NDP making a breakthrough in Quebec. The votes were moved from the bloc to the NDP in order to set up another attempt at a coalition to hold Harper to a minority and then vote non confidence and install themselves into power.
They could not do this if the bloc was involved, and they needed the bloc seats to pull it off.
When it became apparent in the 2015 election that the planets had aligned and the LPC could gain a majority word went out to the unions and quebecers to vote strategically.
Agree inwa had nothing to do with anything

  8. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”
The LEFT so HATES Christianity and the foundation it provided for Capitalism and Western Culture from the Magna Carta to the US Constitution … that they embrace every enemy of Christianity. Izlam. The LGBTQQei ei-O community. Socialists. Communists. Marxists. Global Warmists. Greens. Animal Rights. Every sworn enemy of Christianity is EMBRACED by the LEFT.

maybe tommy beardlove would have been more popular with the dipper mainstream if he had been caught balls out in a seedy chinatown whorehouse. it certainly didn’t hurt shiatsu jack much.

  10. You know what I like? Lessons on high principles from a born again socialist who, as recently as 10 years ago, was sniffing around to join the Conservatives. That’s what I like.

  11. I agree.
Could Mulcair done anything more than he did to help the Liberals?
For example his little red(Liberal)stop Harper signs. Half-way through the 2015 election he couldn’t figure out why the media had stopped treating him like PM material.

  12. kenji, Kristianity is your belief, leftist ideology is their belief system. Many Kristian pols can not vote for certain policies “out of conscience”, same as the lefties push their agenda. Niether the lefties nor many Kristian pols understand that their ideals are irrelevant to how they should vote. They represent the “people” and should vote how they are directed by the people. If they can’t, get the h*ll out of politics. I find the bible bangers as hypocritical as the leftards on this file!
TareK is right in that Mulcair dropped the ball on this one, quebecers hate having their “French culture” infringed upon!!

  13. And remember, Rosa Parks was a trained communist agitator. Thank to Kathy Shaidle at Fivefeetoffury for educating me.

  14. The key is that the Liberals had already stated their policy, and polled accordingly. Once the NDP removed doubt about their policy, they lost support. When they showed weakness in the polls, the “Anyone but Harper” crowd moved to the Liberals. A straight linear progression clear for all to see.

  15. Tarek Fatah is one of my favourite Canadian Muslims, along with Prof. Salim Mansur and Raheel Raza.
They not only oppose Sharia Law. They point it out and warn us about stealth jihad.
The MMSM and the Liberals and NDP reject their advice and them for that.

  16. Sadly … our “educational” system conveniently omits minor details such as that. Kinda like the media conveniently ignoring all of Obama’s trainers and mentors … not to mention his school transcripts.

  17. If Mulcair had come out vigorously against wearing the Niqab at Citizenship ceremonies many of the anybody but Harper Lib votes would have gone to the NDP, across the country and not just in Quebec.

  18. Always liked Tarek Fatah, and some of the new commercials from Native bands of late, praising energy companies and the positive aspects of joining in and benefiting with full employment on reserves that previously had zero employment.

  19. Believe it or not, Jesse Jackson originally created Operation Push, and Push-excel as a self-help program for poor inner city black youth. He sponsored programs that rewarded school age children for reading 2 hours every night. His program instructed black kids to get good grades, study hard, get educated, and basically “beat whitey at his own game”. Even though his overtones were decidedly racist, I admired the message of personal responsibility and education … Jimmy Carter liked his program so much, that he had the Federal gov. “Invest” heavily in Jacksons group. Then … somewhere along the way … Jackson learned it was much easier (and $ profitable $) to just blackmail US Corporations into paying his group hush money … to NOT claim they were “racist”. Unfortunately … Obama came along in phase II of Jacksons business.

  20. Like, hellooooo Mr. Mulcair! It wasn’t the drop in 20 points that was the issue here. In any event, we ended up with Justin Trudeau instead of you, one way or another, Canada was, (and still is) in serious trouble. The issue was that you were telling Canadians that it was OK to hide your identity while swearing an oath to this country. Shame shame!

  21. The niqab had no substantial influence on the last federal election; we can only hope it was because at least we would have had an honest debate, inconsequential as it was. The larger question is the media’s complicity in a contrived and false middle class “crisis” (best not to mention the poor eh) and faked recession that was the fault of either Dutch disease or all eggs (at 9%/GDP max) in one basket, and Harper.
No the mediocracy absconded with the niqab to use as a teaching aid for the sheeple voters, particularly our large metro areas. Anyone taking a stand is appealing to their worst instincts, and since Peter Mansbridge doesn’t know the difference between a financially corpulent Senator and an Alice in Wonderland economic synopsis, well we can’t be seen as mean spirited. Oh and most of all – Harper had to go, helping the poor get off tax rolls and everything; so very unliberal of him.
We were instructed to vote Liberal and enough masochistic Ontarians did to give us the cabin boy. Mulcair’s creepy debate performances were his and his party’s undoing; they are the decisive factor of the last election. Now they will go hard left again back to the future with a neo waffle movement, providing lots of cover for further Grit pilfering of the treasury and our pocketbooks.

  22. Well said. You answered Lickmuffin’s question perfectly. The left hates liberal democracy and Christianity so much that it would join forces with anyone who wants to destroy individual freedom.

  23. the n d p lost in quebec as I said they would and for the same reason. the previous vote was a protest vote and Quebeckers returned to their normal pattern.

  24. Right on.
We all have God-give free will and the ability to choose our path in life, despite any imagined.
Where western Christianity went wrong was changing the focus from an individual’s struggle to live a better life by attaining inner peace through rejecting the world’s temptations to believing it was their role to make the world better. Many examples: United, Anglican, southern Baptist.
So, if you keep Christian principles and reject God, it’s easy to justify what became Communism or its slower cousin, socialism.
The left pretends they are smarter than anybody else and only they are wise enough to run the stupid people’s lives.
Oh, they can be so compassionate, not through the generosity of their own hearts, but with stolen money from others.

  25. there is a hard core dipper sector that will vote new democrap until the bitter end.
beyond that is the swing vote. that’s where the fun part is observing Canuckistan politics. there is also the sector with members of the shortest time period, the naive new voters, with heads filled with utopian ideology.
I wonder if a time is coming when these groups could together all fit in Blue Jays stadium.
